Other comments from this member has since been deleted where he was trying the same sh*t on another colleague. Deleting the comments however does not make the problem go away.

@WhirledPeas I have been reading your comments and I will bow to your considerable experience in this field. I am a newcomer and I suppose quite naïve in this area of the internet. I think deleting the comments will rub out the nasty graffiti but some way of stopping/impeding their continuous bullying could be considered. There are other smart people here, who like you have experience in this and have things to say about tackling the problem.
I agree that hopefully one day they will realise what they are doing is senseless cruelty BUT I don't want us to sit on our hands until they decide to become civilised.

I've searched with one relentless and hateful bully that attacked me and numerous others, several times a day and almost every day. Sometimes it would be against a few people on the same day. All this was unprovoked too. I dealt with it For 3 or so months before I said anything to any mods or evil because I'm not a tattletale/rat. But after I found out that my bully was running to the TM higher ups and complaining on me and telling them that the roles were in reverse and that I was doing to her all the things she actually did to me, I knew I had to say something. This was of course before I caught on to her having multiple profiles. I was told that unless they violate the TOS, then there's really nothing that will be done. That I needed to show proof in the form of screenshots and send it to him. (so make sure you get that.) I couldn't remember all the movie pages that the concerned the bullying towwardse and since I was now blocked, it would be too much to try to go back and figure out since I couldn't see their posts anymore and not all of them were direct or name calling. ...

I don't think so but who knows.
The admin has a record of all the comments as he/they deleted them all and as we know things never disappear on the internet. I don't know if I should just out this "member and phony account" or not. I do not have the screenshots but I have other members who were attacked viciously in the same way.
It seems when I react to something, things get deleted. But that only sweeps the sh*it under the rug and soon it will be stinking up the place again.
How do you know when another member gets banned? - the profile is there but there is no indication.
Also, should there not be more time between registering and commenting?

Instead of writing long posts and leaving replies to trolls - just report them. We don't have time reading all drama. Unfortunately. Attach urls and screenshots when reporting!
@Dr.Evil I did report them. and the comments were deleted much later. By deleting them however, admits that somethings were written that were not appropriate and thus should have a consequence.
Perhaps something could be done about the trolls. Also it is a good thing to make others aware what happens on this site and send a message that trolling will not be tolerated and that consequences will be enforced.
Maybe death threats and child/mother rape threats are drama to some but to me they are the stuff of lowlife. I do not consider such things in the same category as Best Film at the Oscars.
Maybe the moderators could keep an eye on the drama.

Simply asking a reasonable question and giving his opinion, experience and having a dialog about it.
@WhirledPeas OR before the next time maybe we could have some system that actually moderates the comments and the reported stuff and follows an agreed plan of action (by the mods) that all members are aware of in such situations.

Sometimes it is a bit fustrating when people avoid the topic of the thread and try to distract from the debate. However, they too must be rebutted, just like the trolls, bullies and harrassers.

But for someone who keeps insisting that I want to ban stuff and making me out to be some type of Hitler, I think he may have more in common with any right/left wing dictator. He wants to keep the news section (which he claims I want to ban) and yet in his manifesto we get not only NO FREEDOM OF SPEECH but also HARSH PUNISHMENT (DEATH PENALTY?) if you say the wrong thing.
I won't even get on about his idea of abortion, freedom of religion, death penalty (for car jacking?) and same sex marriage.
And now he sets me up as a cry baby who can't take the abuse given out by likeminded thugs. I was standing up for colleagues who were receiving the abuse. He should try it. He may feel like he is committed to something besides his political buffoonery.
I really think he needs to think about what decade we are living in. Post war Britain has been gone for a long time. Things have moved on and bullying and abusive language is not permisible under any circumstances.

I have an eye doctor appointment and I really want to ask her about the things I am seeing on the thread. I spoke to the eye doc after doing all the tests and she says everything is working fine in that department. I then explained the problem when I read the posts here and her professional opinion was ... the condition is on the writer´s side of the screen and has nothing to do with me.
What a relief! (Well I suppose that is a tad subjective)
She advised not to spend too much time with these types of posts as the condition is highly contagious. And also use lots of protection!!!!
Ain't is amazing what these docs are able to tell nowadays, just by looking in your eye.
I am going to take all the necessary precautions and I suggest you do the same sunny.

I hear ya. I think we all do. I read every single comment in the offending thread It sounded like kids to me, but then most do when you reach my age. You are correct, it was out of line and crass.
I even stuck up for a colleague once. The end result being that I found myself alone and defending myself. Just as you are now. I'll never do it again....

Thanks for your input and support. I don't mind defending others when this type of verbal abuse happpens and I don't mind defending my stance against because people come here to relax and watch a film or a movie and the last thing they need is some a**hole ruining that for them.

I've often stood up for others when I was even unable to stand up for myself, only to be attacked, and have my "reasons and feelings" given to me by others who know nothing about me or the situation, rather than anyone (intelligently) inquiring about why I was taking the stance I was taking.
I always remember this, in such circumstances,
"Do what is right, not what is easy."
Every single person who has stood up to any negative behaviour across the board has had to endure the cross that other have assumptively put upon them.
I do not expect to be understood any more in life, I welcome it when it comes, but it is never an expectation.
I understand why you wouldn't do it again; it's a hard road.
It's actually part and parcel of my temperament, I've tried to separate it before. Now I just act with wisdom and only make a stance when something is completely unbalanced.

TBH, not much will get you banned.. I could do a list.. But then that all depends on if your part of the loophole or not also. Allot of people should have been banned but are still here because of this hole. So it all depends. There is really basic stuff that will get you canned but for the most part, it all depends on this loophole really. Honestly......

This IS really an awesome site, its just got some people involved in it now that have dragged the community down. As you can see in threads, movie comments and so on. It is the SAME group of people ALL of the time. Like a pack of dogs. I block them as recommended by Admin/Mod but they still continue with their strange ways.... creating threads against others, replying to posts by members who have them blocked and who they have blocked... creating drama ... just childish stuff really. Then I share this site with others... spread the word how great this site is to watch stuff and so on... then they see the bullsh*t... lol and well ... ok thread is now closed as I was typing.. anyway.. but that all that could be filed under freedom of speech and pursuit of happiness... your best bet is not to get banned but work hard to become a moderator yourself then you can do the banning... or start a competitor site

I suppose a good question would be what is the role of a moderator? I have seen posts regarding this but never a reply. There are some people on here that would make excellent mods based on their wise and impartial views. I don't think I would have the qualities for something like that. And I don't think there could be a better site than 2M for movies.
@..box.. so you think mods that this site have right now aren't good enough ? do you want to be a mod ? i will be gladly to give mine for you. When you make this threat, have you check the account you report ? i had suspend their accounts for 7 days, even when you not giving me a screenshot, i did that base on what necro report and told me. If we have to ban permanently every users that get reported, then sooner or later this site won't have any users at all. It is simple actually, next if someone offend you, threaten you, bullying you, just give the link to the post/comment or take a screen shot, so we know where to look.
@∞Aces∞ I don't know if the mods here are or are not good enough as I do not know what their role is. I do think that there is a need for a communications moderator.
I haven't made any threat to anyone. I did report the interactions using the spam "!" at the side of the comment box. Just like NECRO did. I was not aware at the time that screenshots were necessary as the spam box just requests the reason for reporting. It does not have any attachment mechanism either.
I am not aware of the technicalities but why need a screenshot when you have the comments indicated by the spam report. Are comments and reports not linked.
There was no indication that anyone's account was suspended and I did offer to out the member and his phoney account.
Thank you for this update Aces - finally some action. Much appreciated. If this had been posted when this thread was opened then it could have saved me a lot of time defending it.

This seems to be one of those sites where people can say cruel things to others and once that starts, the bully crowd often steps in and tries to destroy the person targeted,,
I've blocked people but as far as I've seen, I can't see them, but anything I say is still open to be seen by the same people blocked that I don't want to talk with,, and they are free to comment to me even though I can't see them.. which to me is really creepy and kindof proves to me that bullies are (inadvertently)encouraged here by allowing them an avenue to stalking,, and to that I say: "Bummer"...
I really enjoy this site, very grateful to everyone who works here,,,, but I am afraid to say much since I don't think the same way the bullies do.. (Bullies target anyone they disagree with and refuse to join in conversation unless it's with other bullies)..
Personally, I think if blocking meant that the person I blocked can't see me either, much of the bullying wouldn't be able to escalate the same way..

@WhirledPeas I do believe that when you block someone they cannot see what you do on here, comments, forum posts, etc. You can also not see what they do.
@rickgrimesrocks I'm pretty sure that the reason I get a notification that someone has commented in response to me BUT when I look, it's instead replaced by a message that I blocked someone and that's why I can't see them.. but it's a response to something I said-- so they can see me, I can't see them..
@WhirledPeas They shouldn't be able to see you. I know the block goes both ways bc they just updated it not too long ago to be that way. Also someone has me blocked and I cannot see their comments and posts. Not sure about your notifications but I would ask Dr. E about it.

and BTW,, the mental health professionals are studying whether "trolling" is an addiction since trolls get a giant rush of dopamine when they check to see if anyone has taken their bait and starts to talk, whether agreeing or disagreeing with them... but the disagreements get the biggest dopamine rush of all..
That dopamine rush is identical to the dopamine rush an alcoholic gets before drinking and addict gets when they get their drug of choice..
and I find that interesting and very telling..

I've been moderator on other sites and one of theeeee most frustrating things is when other people start defining what my job is suppose to be,,, those people were usually banned because I figured out that I ended up representing someone they didn't like from their childhood... and they tended to never let up, taking every opportunity they could to demand I be something they wanted me to be...
You have noooo idea how much work being a moderator is...

@WhirledPeas i worked as a yahoo chat moderator for 5 years till yahoo ended there chat function, then i moderated various sites and forums on an off.. i wasn't saying what the job was or entailed exactly outside of enforcing the forum rules.. i was more or less being hypothetical

@IamBlue I've always preferred live chat moderating to forums, you catch stuff as it's happening and not after user reports or trawling through posts.
I tend to only mod forums on sites that are dedicated to something I'm passionate about, or it starts to feel like a chore.

I don't know what the admin tools are like here, so I don't know if they keep record of user generated content, and/or Mod notes.
But there should be 0% tolerance for any user giving out death threats or threats of violence, and insults pertaining to child abuse.
3 strike rule for serious offenders.
First: A warning.
Second: Muted from comm's for a day/week.
Third: Banned.
The blocked/blockee issue also needs addressing. If someone has you on block (or visa versa), why feel the need to interject in their original posts. I'm not suggesting people avoid threads where you can't see 1 or 2 posts - but if you're unable to see the original post without signing out, leave it be!
Plus - Pointless comments need deleting from the TV/Movie pages. Who needs to know you haven't watched it yet, but you plan to at some point?
I still think collapsing the replies would be a great move.

I can only see a problem with blocking when it prohibits people from participating in forum activities (games/stories) and not being able to read the instructions or see the previous entry.
Totally agree with the pointless comments - well that example anyway. Not sure about who would decide on other comments. That's why I could never be a mod - I would consider too many comments pointless!!!
Collapsing replies - all the replies?
@..box.. The forum game issue is an easy solve... Just wait for a turn where you can see the previous comment. If you can't see the rules, I wouldn't participate at all.
Collapsing the comments would mean any replies to the original post are hidden - until the user clicks 'read more' or 'read replies'. Then users can choose to read lengthy discussions, or scroll quickly to the next genuine review.

I kind of agree, honestly. Certain people on here make it really scary to chime in on certain conversations. At the same time, it's hella fun lurkin on yall. This is my favorite website on the entire internet NO LIE, mostly because of the movies but secretly because of the comment wars.

I only have 2 issues with the current system. If someone blocks me, and I can't see what they are saying, it leaves it up to others to report them if they talk about or attack me.
To block someone so as not to see their posts is fine, but to keep them from seeing what your write seems more like censorship.
Also, even if someone blocks me, I can still see their news posts, and anything they wrote in the description. Not that big a deal, but still part of the issue.
Last, I'd like to apologize if my rebuttals to many of the political posts only seemed to rile up some people. It's just my nature. If I see something I think is wrong, I speak up.

Actually Aces banned those users really fast. Regular users can't see the ban status. User just goes offline for everybody.

The topic starter has been called some choice things and he has been defending the topic and himself as best he can. If I sound like a politician, then that was not my intention.
1. Everything is NOT bad, not bad at all. In fact I would go so far as to say that the vast majority of things on 2M work very well.
2. Yes, I do think that things can/could be improved.
I have been reading all the comments here and seeing that there are people with experience that have things to say and to contribute. Some co-ordination of these suggestions/advice should be considered.
There may be a role for a moderator who is involved with communication on the site. Someone who checks on the comments/forums to make sure that as DF said "there should be 0% tolerance for any user giving out death threats or threats of violence, and insults pertaining to child abuse."

I had an interaction with two members recently who were clearly one in the same using two different accounts. In the comment section of "Galveston" there seemed to be a case of provocation, insults and downright disrespect towards one of my colleagues by this other "member".
I chimed in (as one does) to defend the one getting bullied only to be told to wait as he was getting a friend. On his profile he had no friends but ten minutes later a new member appeared who had registered 5 minutes previously and began to use threatening language (death threats, rape threats) and other abusive tones which were clearly coming from the same person.
And I wasn't the only one to receive this abuse. Another colleague called him out only to receive similar abuse.
I know what you are thinking - forget about it. SOme d**khead with a hard on for spewing bile around the internet. Getting his rocks off cos he is all alone in front of the screen and bored and he wants to play.

@..box.. This is unacceptable and I can think of one other member who has done this as well and gotten away with it, just to play the martyr.
This cannot be tolerated again.
Temporary bans that lead to permanent bans need to be in place.
I realise that banning a VPN is near impossible, but styles of writing and assaulting the same members will make them stand out when they try to sneak back in....
@ Exactly.... Ir's so obvious from that movie thread many of us are so familiar with, that this particular member has multiple accounts, and actually has conversations praising herself.
@..box.. I saw Galveston recommended by the SXSW festival, and later here on this channel. I did see that ugly comment made a week ago about how the prostitute was ugly and someone said go look at pornhub.. and it went on and on a bit.. Those comments are erased now and that is good. In all honesty that would not get you removed from this channel. But at least the comments were taken down.
