You can block any user by visiting his/her profile and hitting block user button.

When you block the user, he/she will not be able to send you private messages. His/her messages in chatbox, movie comments, forum posts will become invisible for you. Also blocked users will not see your messages and comments.

We don't notify users about being blocked by someone.

P.S. Copy-pasted from FAQ

Removed off topic.

Example.
A user blocked B (bad) user. Now A user can't see B comments. B user can't see A comments. B user can't send private messages to A. B user wasn't notified that A user blocked B.

List of blocked users you can find in your settings.

Update 1: Removed author name of hidden comment.

@Dr.Evil A person has blocked me. I don't care. But I DO care that they can see the things that I have written, and can write about me without my knowledge. How do I block them in return?

@Dr.Evil He meant he doesn't care that he was blocked but he cares that he can't see what that person writes about him. And I agree, that is kinda inappropriate, and one sided. We should be allowed to read anything without having to log out.

@bondojoe Re-read the above (I am not being cheeky, just trying to clarify for you as per your question) If you are blocked they cannot see your comments or messages at all anymore.

(As per Dr Evil, above)
" ...Also blocked users will not see your messages and comments."

"...You can block any user by visiting his/her profile and hitting block user button. @Dr.Evil When both users block, nothing comes up, not even the profile, so there's no way of unblocking ever?

@Dr.Evil I'm unclear why if someone blocks me, that I can't see what they write, I didn't block them. So a random person gets to decide what I see? Seems somehow wrong.

+2

@sunshinedaydreams Facebook does the same. Why? Because the user I blocked can reply, troll and downvote my messages.

@sunshinedaydreams But your question is reasonable because comments are public. I think that blocking should work only on user profiles. Your profile is like your home, but movie pages, forum, news are public like a night club. I'm not sure if we leave this feature...

@Dr.Evil The taunting from blockers has already started in chat and on the forum. It's all well and good to block somebody so you can't interact with them but to then comment on threads you can't read whilst waving for the upvotes is ridiculous.

I've only been here 5 minutes
and can already see that it's the same little clique b**ching, whining and mass up/down voting depending on who they do and do not collectively like.

@Dr.Evil I tend to agree with you on this. Comments are public domain. Comments on a profile are private. But that's just the way/ I see it. I still have no intention of blocking anyone. I love freedom of speech and I stand by it no matter what.

@Dr.Evil I would like to know why and how a certain member who I have blocked and has blocked me who I also avoid, have no communications with nor do I attempt to interact with this user... yet I am receiving notifications in my Inbox that this member is posting to me in my forum games and not even playing by the rules just typing STALKER . why would anyone who has BLOCKED and is BLOCKED bother someone else? this is just getting creepier. I would really love to never hear from my stalker again. Yet this member refuses to stop harassing me. Call it trolling or whatever suits ya. It's crazy!

LOL..I don't care that I've been Blocked, I DO care if it doesn't work both ways. I don't want her seeing what I write, either. How do I stop that? The FAQ says that the person blocked will not be able to see any written communication by the blocker. It says nothing about what the BLOCKER can see. Is this just a one way street?

@ Yeah. I don't care that she blocked mer. All she wanted to do was argue. I was just concerned that because I could not block her, she could still see WHO I was writing to, and what I was saying. It didn't seem fair to be one sided. Dr Evil updated the explanation. It's all good now...thanks!

+1

@bondojoe That implies it does both. Blocking someone (my end) I cannot see what they write.

I just checked on that. @Unreconstructed It's not paranoid to want someone to leave you alone, mate. People find clever ways of stalking and harassing others. Personally, if I cannot help someone, I leave them alone. My situation got out of control and I had to actually start fighting back because the user would use what they thought was clever ways of stalking my posts and expressions that are borderline to be aggressive and hateful. I'm delighted that they cannot see anything I do.

I'm very much thankful that this option was brought to light. I had to deal with a delusional user that made it their mission to harass me and also several others, but cry and lie pretending to be a victim of bullying. (4 of which took the time to message me about having the same problems with that same user.) I saw they blocked me the other day, I just wish that said user would make up their mind and stop blocking and unblocking every couple hours. It won't be long before they're back in action though. Blocking doesn't completely block you from seeing a user's comments. If you're blocked you can't see comments on a movie page but can still see them on the main recent movie comments section. I figure it kind of defeats the purpose of blocking someone from contact or from seeing your stuff if they can still access it from the main eeb page. I guarantee that the user I'm referring to has figured that out based on snide remarks verbatim of things I've said since her initial "block". I don't know if that's a glitch or not.

When Blocking a member, you will no longer see their comments anywhere on the site, they can't down/up vote you, Message you, Send friend Requests, Stalk, Troll, or interact with you in any form. Not even will you receive notifications through your inbox about them. Is there anything else I missed? This is by far, the best thing ever and I am beyond grateful to Doc, for listening to User Feedback and giving Users exactly what we want and need to remain on this site. I wish there was a Donation option on this site to show some gratitude to you ;) I can't imagine the coding that was required to make all these amazing upgrades/changes. Now only if when blocking a member, how about they can't view profiles of the people that have them blocked? My stalker is always viewing my profile and we have each other blocked. Just like on Facebook when you block someone, it's like they don't exist. I know it's asking a lot but it's just an idea. maybe in the future ;) Anyways... ...
