YOU have to HEAR this😘💋 (920 views, 30 replies)
I hear Laurel every single time, I can kind of hear Yanny when slowed down. My husband is the same but my parents and my son all hear Yanny. Apparently more people hear Yanny than Laurel. So let me know what you heard.
Weird thing is I just putting this up and my husband walked in and now he only hears Yanny. We originally heard this on the radio one morning and neither of us could hear Yanny. Now he can't hear Laurel???
It is strange how some people hear one thing and other hear something different. It is so weird considering the 2 words sound nothing alike at all!! I guess it is like the picture of the blue dress/gold dress that drove everyone crazy on the internet.
I heard all of it, when very slow more yanny but lots of laurel---so slow LOW YANNY--HIGH LAUREL--I was expecting very high pitches (cause i had high pitched hearing)but yes, very low slow yanny and higher laurel--lots 0f laurel.(is there a test for higher pitches>) thanks.
( my sister lost a lot of hearing thru having too many ear infections as a little kid, when my parents didn't catch that.anyone having little kids?any ear pains in them, take to doctor, little kids very susceptable to them.)
sorry for parenting advice, heh heh.--really true.--but the person's hearing very important, watch little kids.)(Me, I hear what my cat hears.
I notice, yrs, ago got tested, I heard 3 octaves above normal hearing, ????WHY???AM I PART DOG?
?HAH HAH..
woof woof!!
@clarachan1355 Thanks for sharing that! I had bad earaches as a child and lost hearing in one of my ears but I luckily got it back. My son also suffered from earaches as a child. As much as I didn't want to hear it then: Smoking does cause earaches, etc for your children - even if you smoke outside away from your child. I vape now but anyone who smokes and has a child with earaches-quit smoking it will help
@Teeny💋 Oh my gosh, that so reminds me of what happened with my son.
He never had any ear issues, but one Winter when he was just 5, he got sick. Within days, he just couldn't hear. I looked into his throat, and his tonsils were SO swollen that his throat was nearly closed off.
I'm serious, it was really scary.
Anyhow, I got an emergency appointment with an ENT specialist (we were living in the States in New Jersey, at the time) and he told me that he needed to be admitted immediately as his throat, his nose and his ears were extremely infected and he was in danger of losing his hearing permanently.
They removed his tonsils, removed his adenoids and drained this ears and put tubes in.
It was really scary for him, and for me. 3 surgeries for a small child... and so quickly without any warning. (I am not the sort to ignore my child's needs.)
He was also allergic to the pain medication they gave him and was in soooo much pain afterwards, and developed a fever of 104... it was a truly scary time for me.

@ When I was young my ENT said my tonsils were as big as golf balls, so for me that was an issue as well.
I was wondering did your son change at all after that high fever? My son came down with pnemonia 3 times before he was 10 years old. He had asthma due to to allergies and that is what strarted it. He ran a fever that high and I had to get in a cold bath with him to get it to to drop at one point. He became very shy after having that fever which was totally opposite from before. It is terrifying when your child is sick enough that he was lifeless just staring at the ceiling. He finally outgrew how sick he would get at the changing of the seasons, he still gets a little wheezy sometimes but nothing like he use to.
@Teeny💋 No, he didn't, but he had all those things removed that were completely infected. He barely remembers it. The most he remembers is my looking after him and that the anesthetic was cool because it was especially scented for children and they let him help to prepare himself for the surgery.
He still get illnesses that settle in his ears and nose and throat. I guess he's just vulnerable there.
@Teeny💋 Do you know if this is known as "Time Stretching"?
I'm interested in finding out the reasons behind this happening.
:)
@Teeny💋 I've been reading quite a bit, and apparently, this is a very common auditory illusion (that not everyone's ear can pick up).
This article explains a few of the illusions and give more information than I am qualified to give.
It's really interesting stuff, I think.
Thanks for sharing it and giving me something new to learn about!

Tell me what do you hear??
LAUREL OR YANNY??
@Teeny💋 I heard Laurel until the last one, abd then I heard Mary.
@bondojoe Mary wasn't a choice! Did you hear that when it was slowed down?
@Teeny💋 Yeah...the very last time. I thought everyone would hear it!
@Teeny💋 I can hear both
@Mykee83 I guess you can hear all kind of frequencies then. On the radio the person that was explaining it said that they thought older people would hear yanny bc your older and you don't hear as well.
