@DontSpeak yes that is what I think too. I was in my 20's when all this went down. It is a scar in my memory.

@💛Yellow_rose1💛 He was a horror show, but not the way they told it. Probably worse, because he tried to turn himself in more than a few times. The police dismissed it, and so did his family.

@DontSpeak Yes before he terrorized Milwaukie. The city was known for Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley and Beer factories. The days of innocence was completely stolen. The police really did F**k up badly.

@💛Yellow_rose1💛 Oh yeah. The Police really dropped the ball on this one. I am actually curious as to what happened to the officers who allowed the murder of Sinthasomphone to take place.

@JudgeDredd I can't imagine the anger and resentment the family feels not just for Dahmer but the police. I feel they are just as much to blame. If a neighbor on the street could see he was just a child then why couldn't they?

@JudgeDredd I'm really sorry to tell you that they "retired" with full pay and no repercussions.

@DontSpeak As depicted in the limited series, Balcerzak and Gabrish both appealed their dismissals and were reinstated as police officers in spite of their negligence. According to Associated Press, Reserve Judge Robert Parins ruled in 1994 that "the firings were too severe a punishment and that former officers should be reinstated, with back pay of about $55,000 each."

Balcerzak went on to become Head of the Milwaukee Police Association and only retired in 2017. Associated Press reports that he also owns a pub. As for Gabrish, he left the Milwaukee force and became a captain and interim chief of Grafton's Police Department. Gabrish has now retired as well.

Okay, so we have age restriction warnings, but not for this, which is just idiotic considering how forthcoming Dahmer is on this interview.

In doing research *(as an assistant not the primary writer) I was granted access to more than just this, but cannot show those documents and videos... all of them show a Dahmer that the series got entirely wrong. He is the first EVER serial killer who had no issue taking 100% blame for everything and wanted no defence.

One such interview that is public:

The real issue is with the POLICE. Their racial profiling was disgusting. Their dismissive attitudes let these crimes continue, and if Dahmer had not confessed immediately the public would have paid even more dearly.

Am I in any way saying Dahmer should be forgiven? That he had a heart? That he was still human. NO.

He had evolved into a complete degradation of humanity, but he should have been put in a permanent study.

16 life sentences?? What? Are these officials completely insane?

@DontSpeak many of these killers when arrested and during their interviews with police, go into great detail describing what they did to their victims showing no remorse. In fact they describe the killings as a type of bragging rights. They want the attention and to shock and awe. With Dahmer he was able to come across as remorseful. However I don't think he really felt that way. If he had an ounce of guilt or remorse he would have not continued with the torcher and maiming of these men. He really was a different type of serial killer, yet portrayed many similar characteristics. You are right they should have studied him and learned as much as they could. They did so with Bundy and Arthur Shawcross

@💛Yellow_rose1💛 The difference in psychology is that other serial killer BLAME pornography, the way they were raised, other people.

He did not.

That's what is unique.

Remorse isn't something they feel any-more, so it's an aside.

The FACT that he told his story without blame and did not want anything other than to die, was also unique.

Compare Bundy, Gacy, Ridgeway, DeAngelo, Rader ...

Blame, blame, blame, feel sorry for me, give me attention.

My only point:

Dahmer blamed no one but himself, did not want notoriety and wanted to die.

He would have be useful in understanding psychopathy and how to prevent it in the future.

@DontSpeak You are right, many of them did not take accountability. Dahmer came across as not knowing the why anymore than society knows the why. Good point!

@💛Yellow_rose1💛 People too easily think revenge looks like death.

Revenge can be study that benefits all of humanity.

The transcripts I read were horrific about how his mother was with him.

The nature vs nurture with him is quite evident, whilst with others, it's more the wiring of their brains from birth.

We need to understand this.

Otherwise these "for profit" prisons are a part of the problem, and worse.

@DontSpeak very true. Not speaking of serial killers but when young men enter a prison environment it is in these "correction" facilities that they hone their criminal skills by learning from older criminals. As well as having to join a gang in order to be protected.
