Today, I’m going to cover the surprising potential causes of autoimmune diseases. There are so many people developing autoimmune diseases around the world, and I want to share what I think is going on.

When it comes to autoimmune diseases, we need to ask the right questions. Instead of asking what causes autoimmune diseases, I think we need to ask what causes immunodeficiency or immunosuppression. We also need to ask what causes harmful microbes that are dormant to become active and cause problems.

Well-known triggers of autoimmune diseases:

thanks for this valuable information. I was diagnosis with psoriasis at the age of 10. For most of my life I was denied the necessary treatment to keep this skin disease from ravaging my body. Sometime in my 20's I developed psoriatic arthritis. However because I was denied being sent to a specialist for my skin by my G.P. this destroyed my joints and now live in terrible pain. None of my doctors told me in was an autoimmune disorder or that it would eventually attacks my joints when left untreated. The moral of my story is no one is a better advocate then yourself and do not let doctors dictate whether you are worthy of treatment. I'm finally getting treated. It is very expensive and I'm fortunate to live in a country that is covering the treatment I receive. It is a little too little to late and I wish I had pushed my G.P more to give me the necessary treatment many years ago

@💛Yellow_rose1💛 After i started Keto (3 day in) i was watching one of this Doctors (can't find it at the moment) vids where he was talking about peoples knee pain improving up to 85%/95% and even 100% after starting Keto.
Then i suddenly realized that the right knee pain i had, was about 95% gone!

Here's one of his other vids on knee pain and Keto.

Hmmm. Well as someone with an autoimmune disease that is NOT mentioned, I can say that this list is pretty lacking and not absolute. Autoimmune diseases are vastly different.

Especially because the 3 biggest triggers for exacerbating ANY autoimmune disease are not mentioned: fried/refined foods, refined sugar, alcohol.

Glutathione, MSM, hydrolysed collagen peptides, and vitamin c support connective tissue and help with primary RA based AI diseases.

Knee pain is not the same as having an autoimmune disease, or having RA, which is also not OA (nearly everyone gets OA due to wear and tear in ageing), and not all autoimmune diseases are primary with rheumatoid base.

@DontSpeak What knowledge do you have on MSM, have you used it, how does it work in the body?

@PureVodka🍺 I wouldn't have listed anything that I didn't use and wasn't familiar with from years of use. Again, it depends on what it's needed for and what type you get. Not all supplements are equal, nor should they be recommended.

@PureVodka🍺 I can send you the dissertation I wrote on it. At the moment I buy from iHerb. Although powdered is superior, I cannot stand the taste and gag it back up. I have found a capsule form that is just as good. You should be careful, though. Although I have never run across anyone with an allergy, I feel that this could happen. Also any medications you take must be checked for contraindications.

@DontSpeak Keto is not just potentially dangerous for the kidneys it is not recommended for any RA based autoimmune disease. DMSO is reactive and MSM is Non-reactive and is found naturally. It is more stable, better tolerated and has no toxicity. This is also why mega loading with vitamin D is dangerous. Fat soluble vitamins are stored in the body and reach a toxic level. Water soluble are not stored and are easily sloughed off by the body and the kidneys. There are many suggestions I'm seeing that are very dangerous for this reason and other. DMSO is stored. I would never use it.

@DontSpeak "Keto is not just potentially dangerous for the kidneys"*

Where did you read this, what evidence do you have?

@PureVodka🍺 MSM is said to be the cleaned up cousin to DMSO. Very good analgesic, antinflammatory. Sorta like DMSO in a pill form. W/o the garlicy smell you get from internal use of dmso.

@dubub No, it's not that at all. Similar, but very different. This is why someone with a knowledge of chemistry should judge these recommendations, not a layperson.

@DontSpeak Funny, I've been using it (for myself and others) for that for years. There's lots of other indications, tho not all of 'em I'd use/recommend it for.

The 'cleaned up cousin' was how it was described to me by pharmacists I worked with when it 1st came out in the early 90's, when I first learned of it. I figure a biochemist or a pharmacologist wd describe it differently but my interests are more for practical use.

@dubub DMSO? Or MSM? MSM is something that in my previous life profession, I've recommended without hesitancy. DMSO, I wouldn't. Curious, what you found it helpful for and what application methods and amounts?

I also ask because I've seen first hand over zealous use of DMSO. MSM has no such adverse reactions, being water soluble.

@DontSpeak I have a fair bit of experience (and got some impressive results) with using DMSO too. (I'm not exactly a lay person but that's all I'll say to strangers in a public forum on the net.)

@dubub "How does MSM fight inflammation?
MSM increases the effectiveness of the naturally occurring, anti-inflammatory hormone cortisol."

@PureVodka🍺 I was an everyday user of a combination of: Glucosamine, MSM, Chondroitin,Hyaluronic Acid along with Collagen to help heal and maintain my joints. Ater years of downing Ibuprofen and Naproxen to get through the day, I learned that COX2 inhibitors turn off the bodies healing mechanism , there was a lot of accumulated damage .Later adding Curcumin C3 and Omega 3,6,9 complex to the mix, The healing process improved and spread to other conditions. I'll keep it short.I also found that Egg Shell Membrane contains all the ingredients in the first group and is cheaper than just one of the ingredients. Curcumin C3, Eggshell membrane, and Mega EFA complex are now part of my everyday routine.

Dr Wahls is a doctor who was confined to bed with advanced stage Multiple Sclerosis. She was determined to find a solution for her affliction. She did. While she admits that she is not completely "cured", she is no longer confined to bed , symptoms of her progressive MS are dormant.

Food as medicine to treat and manage disease is universal, and is a practice as old as our species. Knowing how to use the system, and what foods to eat are key.
