Why did Jim Acosta think he could take over the Presidents Press conference? (1454 views, 145 replies)

Why did Acosta hang on to the mic after the President said that's enough? Why didn't he hand it back to the girl reaching for it? What makes Liberals think they are above the rules? Why do they think they can do whatever they want to? Why are they ALWAYS whining, and playing the "race card" everythime they open their mouths? Why do people think it's OK to act this way? When they LOSE a race...why can't they act like a human, and congratulate the other person, insted of crying foul? Why are they such haters? Will they hate ME for pointing out the truth?

@BrunoAxemaker Haha. Yeah, that's why democrats easily took the House, and between the House and Senate, got almost 20 million more votes. Y'all are lucky that the system is rigged in your favor. Your policies, your opinions, are [SPOILER] with a good majority of individual voters.

@thesslazarus 'Easily' took the house. You just squeaked by with the majority

and the several voting discrepancies, in this election and 2016 were all Dems

But I know you don't believe that because your owners said otherwise. I've got no time to argue with someone that really thinks Democrats are growing

Good luck. You and your party are going to need it.

@BrunoAxemaker The turnout for democrats was the highest in 4 decades. They won nearly 40 seats in the House - the largest democratic House wave since Nixon. The seats Republicans won were in expected Red areas. Democrats on the other hand, flipped 29 red seats Blue. You've got no time to argue because we both know you just can't handle the truth. Baby Boomer numbers are thinning, and Millennials are now the majority. And I know it's got you worried as hell. Power mongers worry when their grip begins to slip.

Wanting all the votes counted isn't a discrepancy. Literally, the only reason you're saying there's a discrepancy is because your favorite politicians and media heads told you so, there is no factual basis for it. So to say I believe something because my owners said otherwise is a complete projection by you.

@thesslazarus Yes- the turnout was high, as well as the illegal votes that are now being uncovered

and a LOT more Boomers are blue than you would think. That's the problem.

I love you accusing me of projection when it is turning out that Dems are cheating.

Honestly, I've had enough trying to convince people like you. I've showed evidence before and you zombies still don't believe it.

Believe what you want and be happy in your stupidity. The blip that the Dems illegally won doesn't matter anyway. The SCOTUS is red for generations and Trump will get another term

The funniest thing is a few years ago I would have stood side by side with you but the piss poor liberal attitude has turned off me and millions of others. You're a failing party and you not admitting it or listening to reason is exactly the reason why.

I'm sure you'll argue that too- "Oh no no! Jon Oliver and CNN says differently!"

Reckon the extremes on both sides are just as bad as each other. Has always been that way in politics. But for either extreme to prevail means them having to impose their will on unwilling others. The only ground where most people win is usually center.

Not sure that a rant full of your opinion of liberals = Truth in the strictest sense. Two sides to every coin, and each side shows a different perspective of the same thing. The extremes could / would not exist without each other to feed off.

But who represents the center ground in US politics?

Why do conservatives think they can walk up to someone and put their hands on them? Why do conservatives think it's okay to doctor a video so they can claim to be victims? Why do conservatives want to censor the media? Why is Trump so afraid of non-softball questions? That last question is rhetorical. Since Trump doesn't know the words to the National Anthem and answers everything with, "it's really good" or "it's really bad", of course he's afraid of serious questions that require real answers.

@thesslazarus That comparison in job creation numbers is not accurate.
I have read many articles from journalists praising President Obama by pointing out the jobs created during his time in office. But this is a silly spin job to convince the gullible. Job creation is only part of the equation for real job growth. An honest evaluation considers jobs created vs. jobs shed by the economy during the same period. If 100,000 jobs were created but 80,000 jobs were shed during the same month, real job growth was only 20,000 jobs. President Obama’s real job growth was the worst of any president since FDR. Also, the percentage of part-time jobs vs. full-time jobs was the highest ever since FDR. www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/08/2...
I don’t blame President Obama and certain journalist for touting his job creation numbers to spin 8 years of a bad economy. ...

@thesslazarus The few jobs that began with Obama, was as far as it could go, due to the sanctions that were in place, put there by other Presidents as well as Obama. They couldn't have gone any higher until Trump took them out of legislation. This shows how the "Recession," was manufactured, it was never real. It would be good to remember this, because it will happen again in the future after Trump completes his time there. It's part of the Globalist Plan to take this country down.

I never said it was fake. But I do think it's fair not to edit situations like this. I watched the un-edited version and it does make a difference.

All presidents before him have felt uncomfortable when asked critical questions. It's just part of the job to face that. Question is how you handle it.

Nope, no hate. Just because you fail to see the point of a criticism doesn't mean it's hate. You always seem to be judgemental. Pretty scary. And why are you talking about your opinion of America as a whole? I thought the question here was Acosta?

Still un-answered. Why judge millions of people on the actions of a few, or in this case one? IMO he had legitimate questions. But principally this is important.

If I vote for someone I don't stop being critical of him/her. That's just dangerous.

@Muspeljotn Acosta got two questions answered, when it's usually only one. It was someone else's turn. Most all other reporters there know this is the way it's done, but Acosta wanted to hog the mic and make it all about him. He was grandstanding and wanted to get into an argument with the President. I've seen a video of Obama having reporters removed for less.

This is just Trump's third press conference in two years. Just the third, folks. Instead of answering Acosta's question, he was evasive, insulted him, bragged, and like an emperor, instructed him to stop seeking clarification. Acosta, like any hard hitting journalist, persisted.

Faced with a similar situation, Obama, Bush Jr. Clinton and Bush Sr. all managed to handle similar situations deftly. Especially Obama and Bush Jr., who were consistently interrupted during many of their press conferences in the White House and on the road. Obama even had a GOP legislator yelling "Liar!" during a speech, while an Iraqi journalist threw a shoe at Bush Jr.

Now the alt-rights and conservatives are incensed that Acosta didn't bow down to Trump, and they expect others to feel the same way. What they don't understand is (which they would, if they get out of their bubble), most people viewed Trump's behavior as boorish, and they actually supported Acosta.

If they really wanted to stop Acosta talking, one of the engineers on duty could have cut off the mic with a flick of a switch. They didn't. Instead Sarah Sanders gestured to an aide, who automatically and promptly understood what she needed to do, and tried to wrestled the mic away from Acosta. The aide looked at Sanders and Trump when Acosta refused to let go of the mic.

@bondojoe Buddy, Trump is well on his way towards becoming the worst American president in history. You guys just don't see it yet.

He's taking credit for Obama's economy, but the massive tax cuts passed in Congress earlier this year will slow down the pace of the economy - just like the Bush tax cuts did in 2001.

The argument for the tax cuts is, businesses will reinvest the savings into the economy. Alas, as the Reagan and Bush tax cuts have shown (even the Kobach tax cuts in Kansas), businesses will just pay out dividends and carry on as usual.

The tax cuts will reduce the federal government's income, and will lead to a massive spikes in the federal deficit. I know you don't believe me, but please, wait for the new budget to be unveiled, and watch them try to balance the budget by cutting healthcare, Social Security and welfare spending. The deficit will probably be the highest in history.

@thesslazarus I blame the right wing media, Lazarus. Since Reagan repealed the Fairness Doctrine, right wing media have abandoned truth in favor of indoctrination. As a result, you have an entire generation of right wingers who have been taught to hate everything and everyone that disagrees with them.

I mean, just look at Trump. He lies and lies and lies, but has anyone at Fox (aside from Shep Smith) ever called him out on the lies? Frequently, they simply doubled down on the lie.

Mark probably got his info from Sarah Sanders, who last week claimed that Trump has been the most open president in history. It was another bold faced lie from Sanders, but no one from the right wing media challenged it.

It's a terrifying bubble they are living in.

@Couch_Potato First, no one wants to take credit for the worst economy in US history since the FDR presidency. I fail to see what President Obama's economy has contributed to the current economic growth. It certainly wasn't the Affordable Care Act. Secondly, if tax cuts are the cause of government debt, why did the national debt increase from 10 trillion to nearly 20 trillion from 2008 to 2016 when no tax cuts were passed?
Tax cuts are not the issue. It is the amount of tax revenue generated by an economy vs. the runaway spending by the government that causes debt. If the federal government continues its spending binge, we will all pay for it dearly.

@realwood Obama inherited the worst American economy since the Great Depression in the 1930s owing to the subprime mortgage crisis, which triggered a global recession. When he took office, the country was losing over 700,000 jobs a month. The automotive sector was on the verge of collapse. The banking system nearly suffered a cataclysmic meltdown (a joint Bush-Obama intervention in November 2008 prevented that).

Obama's American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 stimulus program stabilized the economy, despite the opposition from the GOP and condemnation from right wing media. However, the country still had to take care of nine million Americans who lost their jobs due to the economic crisis. The bill for unemployment benefits, food stamps, welfare, etc. went up. The debts left behind by Bush cost the economy over $400 billion a year in interest. The two credit card wars in Afghanistan and Iraq drained hundreds of billions from the government coffers. That is why the national debt exploded. These are all facts that the right wing media never speak of.

@Couch_Potato You did a good job quoting the spin from left wing writers. In fact, you even used keywords to explain the poor economic record. How do I know this? Because I read both left and right wing sites daily, but with a healthy amount of skepticism.

“Obama inherited the worst American economy since the Great Depression…”. That would explain the first two years of his economic record but not the last six, 2010-2016.
“Obama's American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 stimulus program stabilized the economy…”. In terms of stopping the tide of job losses, it did. But a high percentage of those jobs created were either temp or part-time. Nevertheless, they counted those jobs as part of the job creation the act generated. I don’t blame them for doing that, as all administration do it to make their job creation numbers look better. In terms of continued job creation and economic growth, it was a failure. Monthly, at least 200,000 jobs need to be created to keep pace with the young population entering the job market. From 2010 to 2016, only an average of 187,000 jobs was added monthly and annual GDP stayed below 3%. The lowest since FDR. The economy "stabilized" to a bad jobs market with anemic economic growth from 2010 to 2017 (this includes the first year of Trump because every president inherits the economic policies of his predecessor his first year).

@realwood Fella, you accused me of "quoting the spin", yet that is exactly what you are doing to counter the FACTS I wrote. You're merely using right wing talking points to reshape reality.

1. The impact of the Great Recession did not end conveniently in just two years. It's ridiculous to suggest otherwise.

2. The economy became progressively better with every passing year of Obama's term. His job creation record is better that Bush Jr. and Bush Sr. combined, despite, among others, inheriting an 8% unemployment market. In fact, job creation number in his last two years in office is better than Trump's first two years in office (2.4% vs 2.1%).

3. "But a high percentage of those jobs created were either temp or part-time." - This accusation is entirely made up by right wing media to diminish Obama's achievement. It has been debunked repeatedly. Here's one of them: www.politifact.com/virginia/stat...

you one third of the population that actually voted for trump are the worst sore winners the country has ever seen. this president is a joke and so is everyone who supports him. think about this. 2 thirds of the population is really pissed off at you right now. We're coming for you so you better hope that Adolf Trump takes over the world. Cuz i'm personally out there to go f**k some repub wives and F*ck up some repub lives. Democrats = Democracy. Did you notice all of the riots that we DIDN'T have, when Democrats won the House? LOL! Not ONE protest, speech, or march from Republicans. They just accepted the loss, and said..."next time."

Gov. Mike Huckabee

@GovMikeHuckabee
What would the federal judge do if Acosta "challenged" him in his courtroom and argued and wouldn't shut up when judge told him to and refused to give up mic when bailiff tried to retrieve it? Asking for a friend. And for half of America.
