The Truth About Calcium

The Best Ways To Make Sure You Are Absorbing Your Calcium Supplement - Dr Alan Mandell, D.C.

Bone Strength
In 15 healthy and 15 osteoporotic women, a study found that when half of the patients received lysine supplements, these patients absorbed more calcium and excreted more in urine.

The other half received acute calcium load. In the same study, 45 osteoporotic patients were also given valine, tryptophan, and lysine (15).

The results proved that lysine can be used for prevention and treatment for those suffering from osteoporosis.

Calcium is abundant in many foods. Learn what is good. Supplementation is usually not necessary unless a poor diet has caused a deficiency. A deficiency of calcium is dangerous just as any other mineral like magnesium ,potassium etc can and will cause serious disease. To get the most benefit when supplementation is necessary; Vitamin D3 , K2 (k6) , and a full spectrum of trace minerals is also required . Best when extracted from natural sources in an absorbable form.

@PureVodka🍺 You are welcome, just my opinion, I don't like thinking out of the box when it comes to health issues, so I stay with what I have learned, and what my own Dr says. I am going to mention this to her, interested in her take :)

@PureVodka🍺 oh heres another one .. COMPARE the labels of mutivitimins .. the cheaper ones tend to have half as much of everything! its probly fine, but its also probly fine to eat 2 a day. DONT eat a lot at once, some things, like vitimin A, can actually poison you to death in large enuf doses

@Kingarco66 Most bargain vitamins are a waste of money. Synthetic crap and oxides of minerals. Quality ingredients like chelates for the minerals and extraction from food sources are choice. Sticking with the recommended doses for a multi is important. Just as important as eating good food.
Vitamin A Poisoning -
The dose of vitamin A in 1 " Alive brand " once daily for women is 1350mcg or about 5300 units
(1 mcg retinol = 3.33 units.)
"Acute vitamin A toxicity in children may result from taking large doses (> 300,000 units [> 100,000 RAE]), usually accidentally. In adults, acute toxicity has occurred when arctic explorers ingested polar bear or seal livers, which contain several million units of vitamin A.
"Chronic vitamin A toxicity in older children and adults usually develops after doses of > 100,000 units (> 30,000 RAE)/day have been taken for months. Megavitamin therapy is a possible cause, as are massive daily doses (150,000 to 350,000 units [50,000 to 120,000 RAE]) of vitamin A or its metabolites, which are sometimes given for nodular acne or other skin disorders. Such megadoses can cause liver toxicity. Adults who consume > 4500 units (> 1500 RAE)/day of vitamin A may develop osteoporosis. Infants who are given excessive doses (18,000 to 60,000 units [6,000 to 20,000 RAE]/day) of water-miscible vitamin A may develop toxicity within a few weeks. Birth defects occur in children of women receiving isotretinoin (which is related to vitamin A) for acne treatment during pregnancy. Megadoses of vitamin A can cause liver toxicity."

@Kingarco66 Whats on the label and what's in the pill.. sometimes it's a mystery. Personally, I NEVER buy supplements sourced from China. With the exception that they are first lab verified.
Refering to oxides .. ex Iron oxide, Magnesium oxide in multis. Preferred would be Ferro-gluconate or chelated with amino acids like l-lysine or l-glycine

@CanyonD the trick is to have govt funded scientists oversee it with no commercial interference. Simple. However that sort of thing would get instantly branded as "socialism" over there, I do understand your problem. Unfortunately the megacorps and thier stooges are "fixing" this here, cutting the govt scientists to the bone, I dont know how long we will keep it. Already they are under attack for pursuing research with "no obvious direct economic applications", forced to turn from general research to things like making a better drill bit for megacorp mining companies that arent even australian and pay NO tax

@Kingarco66 This is the way of our world from the beginning.Do what you can, or do nothing at all. Enjoy life , and be grateful. Some days are better than others. An umbrella ,boots, and a flask of whiskey come in handy on cold rainy days. Adapt and thrive. Until the Creator puts and end to these constructive and destructive cycles ; this is our world. No escape. In the mean time live well, love many, and laugh often. Life is just too short to be miserable! smiley

@Kingarco66 I rarely drink . Don't have the thirst for it anymore. But something about having a swallow of liquor to warm the body after freezing my ass off seems to work. This winter 2021 has brought freezing rain and snow to central Texas when it is usually moderately cold. Must be that damn global warming thing. Good luck on sacrificing yourself. No man has love for his brother like the man that will lay down his life for his brothers redemption. Perhaps donating your corpse when you are done with it will be sufficient. Enjoy!

@CollideDuhScope Good question! Shells for the calcium source, and the membrane for the cartilage and connective tissue. I remember reading a long time ago that in Asia ,people would rub the membrane on their joints for relief. I thought it was weird.
Eggshell membrane contains collagen, glucosamine, chondroitin, hyaluronic acid, all of which have been proven to help heal connective tissue and joint cartilage.
Eggshell membrane is ready for use. Found a good article , and a clinical study. NOW brand is about $22 on Amazon.500mg x 60. The study shows improvement in joints starting at 7 days.

@CanyonD oh yeah collagen production needs to happen if you dont want age wrinkles .. of course they will happen eventually but whats the rush :) i tend to rely on fish bone for that but i do eat a lotta raw eggs .. dunno about shell, dunno if we can digest it, probably milk has you covered for calcium.
The rubbing of egg on the outside sounds like "sympathetic magic" .. you see the same idea in skin creams with collagen in them :) you can liken it to rubbing steaks on yourself to grow muscle :) its just dumb but ppl are superstitious lol

@Kingarco66 That's exactly why I thought it was weird. Had the author gone a step further to explain why it is good to eat the membrane; it would have saved me $40 a month back in the 90's as compared to buying 4 different supplements when all the ingredients I needed were in the eggshell membrane.

well bone provides the same building blocks, and the easiest way I could fint to eat bone was just eat sardines every day. The other thing you need apart from the neccesary ingredients is to ramp up your production of human growth hormone, that lessens as you age. 2 simple ways - excercise, so you make more and it gets taken to those parts (mostly) or repairing damage. So how to damage ALL your skin every day, withut really doing any damage? I use sand soap, scrub hard .. you get used to it :) and the growth hormone and ingredients will make more collagen there :) easy peasey !

Naturally Creates Collagen
www.well-beingsecrets.com/l-lysi...

Did you know that collagen is one of the most abundant proteins in the human body?

This is because collagen can build cartilage, connective tissue, and bone.

Lysine aids in this formation, and at the same time, it can stop the breakdown and excretion of collagen (7).

Collagen combined with calcium is an amazing duo that may help prevent bone loss.

When you do not have enough lysine, the formation of collagen and calcium actually slows down.

Without lysine, your bones may weaken.

Those with fragile bones most likely have a lysine deficiency (8).

Natural Absorption of Calcium
www.well-beingsecrets.com/l-lysi...

Overall, the consumption of lysine allows the human body to absorb calcium more effectively.

While there have not been any conclusive studies on lysine’s effect on osteoporosis, calcium plays a significant role in bone health.

Calcium is also essential for more than bone strength.

If you eat appropriate amounts of calcium, research has found that it helps to promote a healthy weight, PMS symptom reduction, cancer prevention, dental health, nerve health, muscle growth, and the prevention of diabetes.
