July 9, 2018 around 8 am or so .I was outside watering my plants by the front porch.I notice I was seeing something black moving at the corner of my eye .When I turned to look ,there was nothing there.A few mins have pasted and I keep on seeing a black shape moving at the corner of my eye .I turned and looked a second time and still nothing was was there . I went to cut off my water ,once I cut it off and turned around there was a big black bear right here next to me .I did not move and I wondered why this bear was in my yard .I looked at him and he looked at me .Then finally he just walked off .I don't know why the bear came so close to me .I didn't know if he was going to attack me .That was a strange day for me.I'm still wondered why did that bear do that ,knowing I was there in the first place. I would like your info On this matter.

Bears don't attack from behind, typically. They also don't typically stalk. Since I don't know where you are (urban, rural, state, country, etc.) it's really hard to say. As they get habitulaised to humans is actually when they are most dangerous. Best to scare them away with loud noises so they do not identify humans with sources (including smells, they have a terrific sense of smell) of food.

That's typically when they become aggressive, sadly, and attack because they don't "reason", they are scavenger and apex predator.

@ I live in the boonies ,country ,woods .when I go out to pick berries ,when they are in season .I have seen bears there but they run off when they see me . I just don't know why this bear did what he did .

@gregsohappy My experience with them is they can get curious for many reasons. I'm not a bear or that bear, so who knows?

It's best not to tempt things, I my experience. They are powerful, wild animals. If you make your presence known, they generally run off.

Nevertheless, kinda scary for you, I imagine.

Just my experience and opinion. :)

Bear eats berries too and they have a route they take to revisit the spots where the berries are and you are picking on their route. Bear will not pick berries from a bush or tree when there is another Bear there picking..they will run away. The one that came to your house has probably seen you out there on his route and followed you at some point. He has associated you as one of their own. Please don't feed them. They need to get their own food and not depend on humans as a food source. You may be a kind person who will not be violent to them but if Bear comes to think of you as friendly they may assume other humans are friendly too and that could end badly. It is best for them to stay wild for their own safety. Your lucky, not everyone gets that kind of experience from Nature..you must have a good Heart.

People who cross paths with Bear are given Bear medicine. This can stay with us for the rest of our lives or show up when it is needed to teach us.
Bear Medicine askes us to do some introspection. Bears like to be alone, this is where their Strength and higher intelligence comes from. You are being asked to do this if you have Bear Medicine.
It also brings attention to our Intuition as well. This is very strong medicine because Intuition is our guide during our Earth walk. We all connect to our Ancestors through our Intuition but people with Bear Medicine have a strong connection and tend to become wise beyond their years.

@ @RB Lawd Hav Mercy... who the heck votes this stuff down?smiley One can only hope this community adopts the methodology (as others do) of eliminating down-votes to starve shadow-trollssmileyinstead of feeding the pathetic punitive peeps.

@𝓜𝓸𝓾𝓼𝓮*🐭 Gosh, I'm sorry that's going on for you, too.

We actually don't need the thumbs down.

If we don't like something, we can just move on. It's really only thumbs up we need. Grrrr is spot on about that. :)

@WEBHEAD🕸️ Maybe not a conspiracy, but a means to hate. Removing it removes one opportunity. :)

@ I was joking when I typed that. But I still agree about removing any possible way one can show hate for no reason. Like I can say I like Unicorns & Rainbows. Then somebody thumbs down my comment thinking to much into it. Thumbs down really needs to go. Let those that dislike make a comment on why they dislike. Don't hide in the shadows dislikers.
I think the Grizzly bear is really the bear to avoid.Even grizzly experts, who knew the bears for years, have gotten attacked and killed. They don;t seem to get along even with their closest humans,so I'd make a point when on vacation, stay away from wilder spots where you might meet a grizzly.--if they exist in your state.BRRR-they are scary animals.I think black bears regularly get trained, and "civilized" a lot easier. But, yeah, when they get and steal food from humans, they go nuts. smiley

@clarachan1355 Habitulaising any wild bear is a very bad idea. The bears that become accustomed to humans and food that remain wild, will turn aggressive. As far as civilising, it's really taming and those bears are kept in captivity, not wild at all anymore, and there are still enormous risks.
