So I was messing around today and learned something that I never knew before and thought I'd share. The movie, Die Hard, was based on a book called Nothing Lasts Forever by Roderick Thorp. The book was a sequel to another book he wrote in 1966 called The Detective. In 1968 his book, The Detective, was made into a movie with the same name. It starred Frank Sinatra. In 1988 when Die Hard was made the producers offered the role to Sinatra who was in his 70's at the time. He declined. They changed the name of the main character from Joe Leland to John McClane and one of the greatest action movies ever made was created.
