Buffering issues - OVER notification...lol...how do you stop it? (1419 views, 16 replies)

HI, I'm having some serious buffering issues 9 times out of 10 on here. With only 1 exception ...vshare.eu--rarely have a problem there. I don't understand it. Used to be able to load 3 movies/epis at the same time if I wanted to and watch one after the other without a problem with buffering, but on here it's very maddening.

Secondly, I would like to TURN OFF the popups showing messages about recent episodes just have the site post them in my 'messages' instead of opening a bunch of tabs labeled 'private messages' while I'm trying to watch a movie. It's hard enough to buffer without straining my poor old laptop with 3 or 4 unnecessary tabs popping up.
I turned off messages even but that didn't affect it.
Any suggestions about problems 1 & 2 ? What am I doing wrong ?

Thanks for any assistance!

@Holly Did you break your watchlist? LOL My 'watch list' doesn't disappear :)

You are probably following episodes of shows. To stop that, simply go to the show and click on "stop following".

@Perfection Perfection~~~Thanks for the quick reply! Right. I am following them and I would LIKE to be notified when they update. But not in constant popups. If it just posted in messages and one popup said "Check messages for recent TV updates" that would do it for me :) (And it would be a lot simpler for the site..lol) I could delete messages as I watched them! (actually a better system than I've seen elsewhere) Just a thought...

BTW,,,,is there a way to send private messages on here ? I know you can post on a wall, but on occasion you might want to send a message that isn't public.

@ThomasinaPaine Unfortunately there isn't a feature like this. You will onky be notified via that "annoying" popup. However, you can share your thought in a thread. If people like it admin may consider it.

Yes. You can privately chat with others.

@ThomasinaPaine Visit user's profile, then Send message. You should explore the site. It is not so complicated. (I hope)

@Dr.Evil Yes! Thank you. Duh on me...lol. It is not a difficult site to navigate at all...just need to keep looking around and getting familiar with nooks and crannies. :=) I particularly like the open, friendly forum. REALLY nice change ;> Thanks for the feedback, Dr, E.

How great 2 be able to actually have an idea considered!! Thank you :) I don't mean to jump on here and start being critical :/ It is just new to me... all the bells and whistles...and now I think I've figured out the buffering thing. I just had 2 other tabs open getting TO the link and wasn't closing them which I guess I'll have to forgo rating links ...not sure if that makes any sense to you...but I try to rate links...it's kind of nice to know which links are not so great and which are good. If I shut down all tabs but the player I can't rate the links I guess. Ah well, at least the buffering will be better :)

RE: Private messaging....I looked under 'Help" and didn't see that feature. I'm going to take a guess that you go to the person's profile and select 'send message'.
Duh on me :)
Thanks muchly!

I have a lot of buffering issues lately myself. I cannot pin it on one site. I thought maybe it was because I let my grandson play steam games. That usually requires me to do some deep cleaning. Well, I have cleaned defragged and cleansed from one end to the other and I still have the problem. Took 2 hours to watch 45 minutes the other day. I also like to have more than one episode ready to go after the first one. I binge watch. MOST tv episodes are pixilated to pieces I have to download them to even be able to see them. I thought maybe bad weather caused it but it's a lot of different episodes on different channels and days.

@fortunate1 ME TOO! I did the same, cleaned defragged and micro-cleaned to no avail.
YET last night I watched 2 shows that drove me nuts buffering
and THEN two shows that played smooth as silk, 1 after the other, with no buffering probs at all. Go figure. I have noted (on other sites and on here) that vshare.eu and estream seem to play more smoothly w/o the buffer prob. Seems the past 6 months or so the game popunders have picked up steam on some sites, and recently I've seen some risque popunders I never saw on sites (i.e., "NUDES!!.Dating.." etc,) and I have 3 blocker addons that usually stop everything like that. Maybe we users should look around for sites that aren't so into sponsoring suchlike and report back. I saw a note on here about the good idea of reporting unpopular sites.. maybe we all can look for better ones...sigh smh Oh yeah, daclips is pretty good too..or usd to be. ...

I think I might have found my issue, EZcloud. I cannot get rid of the bastard. I did manage to stop it. That was a major hoop just getting the service stopped. Access denied all the time. I got around that finally. It doesn't even show on Norton or Spybot. Iobit uninstaller doesn't see it either.Malbytes either. But you might want to look through system services see if you have something recently added. My security is tight so this came in on something my eight-year-old grandson downloaded with a steam game.

@fortunate1 Can't believe you would let a child play games on your machine ~ those kiddy game sites are packed with malware. Suggest you buy him one of his own, or teach the little blighter to read :D

@gallanted We just had a tutorial on how to custom install instead of just install wealso now have a rule. Show me and I will do it or not. I also taught him how to right click and scan before he opens anything.Seriously in process of moving his stuff to another user profile so I don't have to go through everything to be vigilant of his use. To buy him a desktop which is what he wants , Is nuts for just the two nights a week he is here. I agree wholeheartedly about those game sites. Steam games are extremely heavy and bloated.

@fortunate1 You'd do well to have an external hard drive to keep your important stuff seperate, and detach it when you aren't actually using it. Spent two days righting one of my friends HD's after he had let his daughter play Candy Crush on one of those sites ~ and still couldn't retrieve some of his files.

@fortunate1 I am not a geek or nerd or anything close to that..and never will be..but I have found that when MWBytes or my AV can't find something I suspect is a problem, that Eset Online Scanner finds stuff they miss.

That is a very good idea. I actually have a passport drive somewhere. Thank you.
