This is unfair to the victim; Baldwin was holding the firearm and was ultimately responsible for its safety. He should have been in court.

@Buttless He's an actor not a gunsmith or firearms expert. He's provided the equipment needed to perform his job. The blame lies solely on the weapons master on the set in charge of providing him with said weapon. He's not qualified to be inspecting or tampering with the stage firearms. The question that should be asked is why were there live rounds on the set to begin with. What possible explanation could there be for that? Why did the weapons master not see the rounds were live and not blanks. There's a big difference in appearance between the two

@LarryxBenson He was also THE producer who hired and oversaw weapons master, et al.

@LarryxBenson If nothing else, it's basic gun safety and common sense to check a firearm you're willing to take responsibility of, for the purpose of pointing it in someone else's direction. He was aware there were live bullets on the set. Not being a firearms expert to check a gun is like not being an electrician to switch on a light.

@LarryxBenson Gun safety 101: The person holding the firearm is responsible for its safety, that responsibility cannot be contracted out to anyone else and if he is not capable of checking it then he should not touch it.
The armourer is responsible for over-all site safety, should never have allowed live rounds on the set and should have assessed Baldwin's competence before allowing him to hold a working firearm.

@LarryxBenson I read that there was some live rounds for off set use during down time at the set… How does the live ammunition get into the blank box???

They could not have been that many people behind the handling (and safety) of that gun, murder comes to mind.

If he wasn't rich and famous he'd be in jail by now.

This is just daft. He's an actor, first of all. If he didn't load the gun, and he'playing a part as an actor, he's in no way complicit.

Saying that he is, is the equivalent of holding an actor responsible for the8r "role" as a Doctor, or a lawyer, or a psychiatrist etc. etc.
