I was re-watching Tenet and was trying to imagine what Old Hollywood directors e.g William Wyler, David Lean, Cecille B DeMille, Orson Welles would make of it.

(Not just that but movies considered modern masterpieces like There Will Be Blood, Zodiac, No Country For Old Men etc.)

Do you think they would be astonished, perplexed, revolted? or all 3.

They'd say nothing. Useless anyway. The damage is done and all they would get out of expressing opinion is hate and stupid argumentation. But this for most of the commercial movies. There are brilliant and astonishing works of modern filmmakers. Considering that in Art in general there is decay and modern people explore every day more old timers, filming is just a part of the problem. How many modern songs play around Christmas time? And how many of the modern tunes stay as hits for long time? I think some sources want to limit and forbidden access to old art works. Probably the modern art industry?
