on another site i use from time to time they call those "sock" accounts. some use them for seperate pages .others use them to "troll"
@brian195951 I was just curious. The person that I'm thinking of truly is delusional and uses multiple profiles to stalk and harass others and will often praise herself and hold conversations between the different accounts. It's really crazy and mind blowing to watch. I just didn't know if that was still considered catfish even or something else entirely. "Sock" accounts, eh? Okay. I'll have to try to remember that. Thanks!
@◦•●◉✿♡Momof3αηgєℓѕ♡✿◉●•◦ I'm pretty sure I know who you are talking about and it is crazy to sit back and watch. I've even pulled back some over the past few months bc of the craziness some people love to stir up on here. They truly must have no life and be very miserable and lonely.
To answer your original questions I guess all personalities would be considered a nuisance and nothing more...LOL

yep more common than you would think. i am kinda new to this page and i hve seen it myself here. it was real bad at the other site i mentioned. by the way how do you find friends on this page?
@brian195951 There's a lot of cool people on this site. There's a couple frauds, but the good make up for the few ignorant bad apples. Usually if I see a user commenting on movie pages with similar tastes or funny comments then I just click on them and request them. There's only a handful that I actually message back and forth though so I'm not really sure why I do the friend thing. I think I'm just used to doing that because of FB, IG, etc.

Well anyway, hope your not being targeted or harassed at the moment bc you are one of the great ones on here. Keep being you and ignore the nuisance.

ok cool... one other thing. the site that i was on was veehd. really great site back in the day all but gone now. but there was a user very popular and well liked. "she" got into an argument with another member in the forum one day. it was crazy! everyone was telling him to back off and threatening to ban him and all. well to make a long story short some how he found "her ip address and ended up outing "her" she had 8 accounts. male and female. good personas and bad. it was the strangest thing i had ever seen. multiple ages and every thing. crazy! well just thought i would share that with you. since then i just dont know about anybody i meet on the internet that i do not know in real life. by the way i am as real as it gets. i am 59 years old. married 19 years and just bassically bored man that works constantly. lol i run a motel and it takes up all my time. nice chating and i love your comments on the movies. have a great day. and see ya around .peace!!
@brian195951 That's exactly what would be found here and is another big thing for me... You never know which is which and who is really who these days,so I only talk to very few in terms of anything meaningful. Even then I don't divulge a lot of stuff.

I used to know a person like that, and just wrote her off as a "toxic" friend and stay away, they love when they know they have hurt someone else, it is almost a sickness (in the head)...

@Teeny💋 I was thinking that same thing. I know one on here in particular that stalks, lurks and attacks on here so much and so often, you would think it's their job. It silly really. It's irritating especially when as soon as you point out something they are doing, catch them in something, they then turn around and accuse you of being the one doing all that. But that's what they want though...To get under your skin. They can't ruin my day, that's for sure.💙💙

I, like some others here, have many, MANY years of experience online and have come across a lot of seriously deranged and strange people.
In my experience it has never been a case of split personality. Yes, some have mental health issues but they are still fully aware of what they are doing, and take great delight in fooling people.
They interact with themselves often to keep up the ruse for long as possible - and there is usually some benefit to doing so (post count/points for posts/friend requests)
I wouldn't really define it as Catfishing, it's a category all in itself.
I slyly called someone out recently on another site for the same thing - I spotted this persons new profile and immediately recognised their style of writing. Within 10 minutes the profile had been changed lol. I won't say too much 'cause I know they'll likely see this *waves*
Most people find it very difficult to change their style, spelling and phrasing - it's very easy to spot once you know what to look for.
@DemandingFemale That's how I initially caught on to this person. They're not the brightest crayon in the box, that's for sure. I'm positive that this person has serious mental issues. The multiple personality thing was just a sarcastic way,granted a bad way, to describe the scenario, I guess.

I just don't understand getting joy out of pretending to be nice and friending you and then all of sudden be talking crap about you?? It is the same with the late night sexters if you forget and leave your page open all night. People are trying to friend you that have no playlists, no favorites but yet love to talk about movies with ya...yea right!! I wish the high school hijinks would just find some other site to bother and leave us friends and movie lovers alone. There are a ton of great people on here and I did start to question even that lately just bc of a troll. I've decided you can always tell who your real friends are even online, they are the ones that care and are there for you, that make you feel good not drag you into drama. Just want to say to all my friends on here that YOU ALL ARE THE GREATEST AND KEEP BEING YOU(bc everyone else is taken)...LOLNo but seriously all my friends on here are Awesome and I love you all

@DemandingFemale Im an a***ole and still deal with it. Where one leaves off another picks up. There's been a few on this site, but no where near like on my other social media platforms.

I have no idea who you are all talking about, I guess I don't spend enough time chatting on here to notice much.
But I do know that people who do these things can be dangerous. I once belonged to a forum where I spent a lot of time, folks on there I considered friends (still in touch with some now). A new person joined who seemed to 'fit in', but very quickly began PM'ing quite a few of us - mostly to talk badly about the others. She really tried to cause a division but got found out pretty quickly.
Tried to excuse herself and gain sypmathy by talking about her Mental Health issues, and was defended by half a dozen others.
People weren't having it though- long story short she left an online suicide note and disappeared. That really messed some people up, thinking they were partly to blame.
But - one of the mods did some digging - turned out all the accounts that had defended her, some of which were still around and pointing fingers of blame for her 'death' were actually all her!

@ Well I think we all know that there are a lot of people who might find it amusing to behave that way, but this person certainly had/has issues. She is not the only 'suicide scammer' I've ever encountered, but the distress she caused (what I have said above is just the tip of a very large iceberg) was in a league of it's own. This world is small enough though that it just might be you encountered her.
@⭐️janerosity⭐️ Oh wow!! Sounds eerily familiar to what has been going on here. I just don't understand it. Maybe it's in part because my brain just isn't wired in such a way that would allow me to even consider doing any of this to people that never did anything to warrant all that. SMH.

I have a genuine curiosity about something. I just want to know if pretending to be someone else and using a fake picture on a online profile and assuming that identity online is called catfish, what is it called when a certain person's split or multiple personalities have and use their own separate accounts/profiles online? It's a serious question
@◦•●◉✿♡Momof3αηgєℓѕ♡✿◉●•◦ I think of the film doc. catfish or talhotblond, where one person sets up a fake account, pix, name, age, .. and all sorts as catfishing. Multiple accounts set up by one person where they engage each other.. back in the IRC days was called doppelganging. It's good to teach children that when a whole room has ganged up on them.. or lots of hating on a website, it's possible only one or two, plus the doppelgangers, maybe using multiple accounts.
@ginger666 Very true. I guess I didn't catch on for a while because I don't think like that, plus I had them blocked. They just made it so obvious recently on a comment of mine so I started looking more closely at other ones, digging digging a little and viola! I mean this person is blocked. They shouldn't have even seen that I commented, much less what I even said in it, yet they go on this huge spill about me and what I said. Then from a different profile starts praising "them" while downing me, but the wording and phrasing were all the same on that comment and the multiple others just like the original account did before I blocked them a while back. For months I've had multiple people send me screenshots of similar stuff from the same friggin user. I had just been ignoring it, but I'm so tired of it.

@𝓜𝓸𝓾𝓼𝓮*🐭 I have a list of 3. One I know for sure, the 2nd I'm almost positive and the 3rd is iffy. I bet if I compare with you, yours will match one of mine and possibly the name of a profile I was given this morning from a mutual friend.
