I want to share thoughts from my experience with Ukrainian war refugees, in case they'd be of help for others. Perhaps this thread would have more opinions with goal the best for them.

I haven't relied on the tv and news. I assumed, from experience with similar cases they'd need something more from what they already been offered. So when I heard they around I drove to their hosting facility, found couple of them and asked them directly.

My impressions from the direct contact I had. They are afraid! Something normal for the troubles they having. They would accept communication with females to build a direct communication more than a male and especially big one.

The refugees , close to you won't appear like the common war immigrants we seen so far. They all dressed up pretty well, some of them with luxurious cars, even much better than ours. This is due to the specifics of this War. Many of them wealthy families or people that had everything and they had to pack and leave their country as soon as they could. Something that happened to Greeks too at some point, triggering to me historical memories.. Anyway these people are not used to charity, something also understood. So building a trusty communication using females would bring better results.

Missed to add that you don't have to be wealthy to help. If you can spare liquid for washing the dishes, an old washing machine for clothes, spare a load of fruits, offer a service like haircuts for women or kids and more this things sometimes even better than sending money abroad to money services.
