This is dedicated to all the crime fans out there - both registered members and others who have not registered yet, but still check my threads. I will add all of my favourites to this thread from true-crime series, documentaries to all things crime based Films/Series. It's going to be a very long thread. Please do feel free to add onto it otherwise I don't mind doing so myself. I will continue to add more and more, when I have the time. Enjoy! 💜

If you do add on to this thread, please add the title, link and description to the film/series that you are sharing here. It makes it easier for others to find it. Thanks!

I will begin with one of my all time favourites here:

The Killing (2011-2014)

A police investigation, the saga of a grieving family, and a Seattle mayoral campaign all interlock after the body of 17-year-old Rosie Larsen is found in the trunk of a submerged car.

In no particular order, here is another one of my faves:

Mindhunter (2017)

In the late 1970s two FBI agents expand criminal science by delving into the psychology of murder and getting uneasily close to all-too-real monsters.

@fifi949 lol no porn either this way. I disable it via add-on called "uBlock Origin" works wonders.

I am currently watching a show that has not been added to this site yet called Blood (UK) it's a crime and there's 4 episodes of 6 out already online with links on other sites.

I have yet to check Informer but have it added to my watch list.

Also, trying to finish up Narcos: Mexico on Netflix and Warrior when I have the time - probably this weekend.

You're welcome and thanks for taking part here and sharing xx

This is a newer added crime based movie that I recently enjoyed watching:

The Clovehitch Killer (2018)

A picture-perfect family is shattered when the work of a serial killer hits too close to home. Dylan McDermott stars in this chilling portrait of all-American evil.

@⭐️janerosity⭐️ You're most welcome :)

It was an interesting film and based on real events/serial killers which is really what had me wanting to watch it. I also enjoyed the different perspective from a relative of a serial killer instead of just the serial killer himself. Dylan McDermott played his goofy role extremely well...

I've had that side panel "Visitors watching now" disabled for quite some time now so I never see what's there. I once clicked on what I thought was a regular movie that had "Goddess" in the title but it ended up being some type of porn so I quickly disabled that from ever happening again. I was clueless to the fact that porn even existed on here. It's the top 3 movie tags on this site so go figure lol neither my hubby or I watch porn so I can do without that annoying feature :)

I could also do without the point system on here and the labels (newbie, guru, god etc.) I don't care for either as both are silly and pointLESS haha

I find these types of forum threads more fun than anything else and interesting on a film/series site.

When I first registered as a member here there wasn't even a game thread that existed let alone threads dedicated to films/series genres so I figured why not start both games + genres ....

Great topic EUNOIA, hopefully some crime fans will chime in. A recent show by Netflix I just enjoyed was made in Denmark. Be aware it does require reading English subtitles. It's the standard European 6 episodes in length so it's easily binge-able in a long night:

Warrior (2018)

@LesStrater I watched the first two episodes of Warrior on Netflix 💜 which is where I been viewing most films/series lately with all the great stuff they've been releasing, it's definitely worth the membership there but I won't be able to finish it until my hubby watches with me lol as we are both fans of crime.

In the meantime, I have been watching:

Narcos: Mexico

The rise of the Guadalajara Cartel as an American DEA agent learns the danger of targeting narcos in Mexico. dosmovies.com/watch_tv_show/Narcos_Mexic.... on Netflix 💜 the subs are excellent if you don't speak Spanish. Have you viewed it yet or not your cup of tea?

I also hope that other members chime in here but I doubt many will. One would think on a film/series site that these types of topics would blow up but it seems the majority here are more interested + invested in politics, drama, and arguing than anything else. ;)

One that started recently on the British channel ITV is called...

Dark Heart (2018)

The season is broken down into 2 episodes per case and the first case was already aired in 2016 as a one off special.

Detective inspector Will Wagstaffe fights crime tirelessly, his way to deal with the murder of his parents, which he never got quite over even if he just lived longer without them than with them. This is the story that continues throughout the series and we find out he has a single mother sister with a teenage son and an Italian boyfriend.

The leading actor is not always mister nice guy but comes across as upright and looks after his own. Worth a watch especially for his sister (Charlotte Riley) who was recently in Press (2018)

I caught my son watching this on Netflix a couple of months ago, so I sat down and I thoroughly enjoyed it AGAIN, as I had watched it in the original weekly installment version.

River (2014)

I was drawn to the series initially as I am a fan of Nicola Walker and Eddie Marsden but the real star of the show has to be Stellan Skarsgård as Det. John River who manages to run the gamut of emotions during his journey in search for the truth, at times without uttering a single word. The chemistry between him and Jackie 'Stevie' Stevenson (Nicola Walker) is quite amazing and Eddie Marsden is in top form with some wonderful dialogue.

I would definitely describe it as crime/thriller with shades of horror and some WTFs to boot. I really couldn't recommend this more for storyline and a fantastic ensemble of actors (Lesley Manville - Oscar nominated 2018 for Phantom Thread and Adeel Akhtar turning in a very touching, human performance as the new cop on the job)

I am putting this here even though it may be considered as a sub-genre of the Crime/Thriller/Drama series.

Condor 2018

I still have good memories of the Robert Redford and Sydney Pollack film "Three days of the Condor" from 1975 although I saw it in 1979 at school. I believe this was the first film I had seen which really challenged me to understand what was going on as we are given the POV of icon Robert Redford (who I imagined looked strangely like my older brother). These were strange times in Washington and I suppose the film reflected this.

This series brings the film up to date with muslim terrorists and chemical warfare and expands the story (obviously). Some quality heavyweight actors (William Hurt & Mira Sorvino) are being tight lipped and shady and a sense that no one can be trusted is carried through the first episode. We follow CIA analyst Joe Turner journey through an attack and later a "cat and mouse game" full of treachery and treason with double and triple-cross utilised to their full extent, along with a global disaster looming. ...

Although this new Irish series is not on this site yet I am sure it will be soon after this post.

Blood (2018) follows Cat Hogan, an isolated woman on the run from her past, a past she is forced to confront when the sudden ‘accidental' death of her mother, Mary, draws her back to the family she has spent the last ten years trying to avoid. Her suspicions start to mount against her father, when she begins to notice discrepancies in his stories.

The first episode looks promising as I have watched it elsewhere and there's nothing like a good crime show from the homeland.

Enjoy!

Chiming in to let you know about the best series on 2M since god knows when.

And speaking of Jody Comer, she pops up in this series, along with the fabulous Sandra Oh, as they pit their wits against each other, while bodies get strewn by the wayside. Developed for television by the incredibly talented Phoebe Waller-Bridge (of Fleabag fame) from the Villanelle novellas by Luke Jennings, I so hope this keeps going as Comer literally eats every scene she is in.

The humour is dark and witty and the violence is violent. These are bad ass ladies in a Jason Bourne world and they handle themselves to perfection. And having Fiona Shaw in the mix is just a big fat bonus for all concerned. If there is one series you need to watch over the festive season, make it this one. At eight episodes, you will not be asking for your time nor money back.

I am killing one bird with two stones by posting the same film on two threads. (For more details see dosmovies.com/forum/thread/Favourite-Chr.... )

This screenplay was penned by Curtis Hanson, who would later be responsible for L.A. Confidential and stars two of my favourite actors, Elliot Gould and Christopher Plummer who are on top form here. It is a bank heist thriller set during the Christmas period but not everything goes to plan. Tense, twisty and terribly intelligent with the added bonus of an early appearance by John Candy, this film won’t disappoint.

And Toronto looks great also.

I have to heap praise on one of my new true crime shows, it's "Real Detectives" and while many of these types of shows can have some horrendous reenactment actors "Real Detectives" has found a good group of actors to draw from. By far the best True Crime Reemactors that I have seen. S01E01 stars movie actor Michael Madsen who has starred in too many movies to list but include Thelma & Louise, Reservoir Dogs, Wyatt Earp, Species, Mulholland Falls, Donnie Brasco, both Kill Bills and MANY MORE! Season 2 kicks off with the male lead actor from the original Final Destination movie, Devon Sawa. I hate to build up something too much because it always seems to disappoint....so I'll just say it's good & I enjoyed all 16 episode in 2 seasons! dosmovies.com/watch_tv_show/Real_Detecti....

It's 1933 and the English are complaining about and protesting against immigrants (anyone for Brexit yet?).

Hercule Poirot is older now and doesn't have the same clout among Scotland Yard. He has been forced to make a living selling his powers of deduction at aristocratic birthday parties and vanity keeps him dying his goatee black. Age has caught up and he has slowed down. But not the "little grey matter", thank God. He faces an intimate killer who taunts him by sending him letters about his killings. Enough said.

As usual, the BBC are king when it comes to Christie but the choice of John Malkovich may be surprising as he does not typify the Belgian sleuth from previous outings (the fantastic David Suchet or the late, great Albert Finney) who gave an energy that the aging Poirot is lacking.

But everyone grows old and the friendless immigrant must work alone while being hampered by the police force he once enlightened. The plot will keep you guessing and amused. A delightfully sinsiter tale.

They show his chopped p3n1s a few times throughout this show and that may be disturbing to some. There are no warnings when it appears. Just thought I would share.

Unbelievable (2019) dosmovies.com/watch_tv_show/Unbelievable.... Based on the true story of Marie, a teenager who was charged with lying about having been raped, and the two female detectives who followed the path to the truth.

I also recommend watching this documentary after "Unbelievable" as it relates to the topic at hand (rape) and is quite shocking:

I Am Evidence dosmovies.com/watch_movie/I_Am_Evidence/.... An investigation into the way sexual assault cases are handled by police departments across the United States.
