More and more villains are being portrayed sympathetically in movies. Look at Kylo Ren and Thanos, who either see themselves as the hero or victim of circumstances. Often the stories are told from only one perspective and we rarely hear the villain's side of the story. Knowing what you know now, would you have joined Darth Vader? Thanos? Sauron? How many of you would have gone to the other side?

well, Darth Vader was just manipulated by the bad guy smiley (who was still seen by everyone as the good guy)and he played on Darth's smiley insecurity having lost his mom;so he felt very insecure about losing Padma(??name--Natile Portman)) smiley whom he loved more than anything--the guy was horribly insecure.

HOWEVER,COULD HE have really killed a bunch of little kids?? smiley --which he did?And used Portman as the excuse?I could have been similarly set up,emotionally, smiley (and I have been,in the past)but I just lost some money.I could not,I feel, deliberately have killed a buncha little kids! smiley !--even if it saved my mom or dad;s life!Or my sister!!Its just TOO UNMERCIFUL AN ACT!! smiley IT WAS SICKENING IN THE MOVIE!!-

-I think Darth had some mental illness going on,that he could do that!!I remember he didn't even flinch!!I know that in war time, most soldiers get really bummed out, having to kill the enemy, even during WW2. smiley --it goes against the normal person's conscience, and emotional system.Darth almost (well, he tried to)killed his own son.I don't think Darth had much of a conscience, until FINALLY he stopped so-&-so-from killing his son. smiley

@clarachan1355 I definitely would have been in the Empire. Luke and the Rebels are really just new age hippies.

@BrunoAxemaker you call them hippies, but the emperor's inner circle were all about that force mysticism. the rest were just a bunch of suits with a bureaucratic wet dream of micromanaging the universe.
