What movie? What actor? (1592 views, 216 replies)
@bondojoe Yeah, you start out games with easy ones.
By the way, amateur filmfans have databases of scripts which are mostly correct and sometimes reveal details about the film. I have no idea if those are from real scripts or based on compiling data from many sources.
I'm supplying this link as a resource to help people find a line to post.
www.nyfa.edu/student-resources/1...
Monty Python back in the seventies actually published the script for Monty Python and the Holy Grail. It was sold in bookstores.
"Yeah, but it's a dry heat..."
"What are we supposed to use Sarge, harsh language"?
Boots, I got Hayes and some youngster outside with Moon and Quincy. I want you to bury 'em for me. I'm in a hurry.
Capt. Boots Finch:
They're dead?
Well, I wouldn't want you to bury 'em if they wasn't.
@swans2525 Not sure whether the dialog is different between the older and newer versions, though I expect they would be. As much as I appreciate John Wayne I really prefer the newer version.
@swans2525 I highly recommend the newer version w/Jeff Bridges as Rooster. Not sure if they made a serious effort to ensure the dialogue was periodically correct but it's really interesting listening to their phrasing as it's quite different than our speech patterns today.
Hope you have yourself a great weekend as well :>)
The entire world's a graveyard, and we the birds of prey picking at the bones, that's all we are. We're the ones who let the dying know the hour has come.
Due to opensubtitles and .srt files, then anyone can rename that to .txt and the cut and paste dialogue from a film or tv series.
www.opensubtitles.org/en/search/s...
Those either are .zip or .rar files so you have to extract them. They come in many languages though of course English is the most common.
It was often much more difficult to find a tv episode script, but not anymore.
@AnhedoniaNightmare nobody asked for your help. good game sneaking in the teachers edition and ruining it for everyone else, asshøle.
@uunboundd Note: my first two were extremely easy.
The third literally took 1 second to find and is in the very first hit.
Hahah
You think that is the teacher's edition?
ROFL
@AnhedoniaNightmare i was specifically referring to the link you posted.
i would say don't flatter yourself, but its part of what sustains you.
@uunboundd Why are you so bitter that I tried to help people find movie dialogue so they can participate?
It's odd.
Who hurt you so bad that you are suspiscious of everything?
@AnhedoniaNightmare The Addiction (1995)
Christopher Walken is an old vampire talking to a brand new vampire Lily Taylor.
dosmovies.com/watch_movie/The_Addiction....
It's a largely unknown but excellent vampire film.

There's a story that several solders were missing in action and held in a Vietnames prisoner of war camp. So they were going insane from the torture and they started doing Star Trek episodes from memory and ad libbing. Eventually they just did improv to create episodes.
It made a Star Trek actor tear up that somehow he had helped them through it.
I think this one is rather easy for anyone who has seen the film which is also one of my faves...
"Too many guys think I'm a concept or I complete them or I'm going to 'make them alive'…but I'm just a f**ked up girl who's looking for my own peace of mind."
(Movie and Actor)
No cheating okay.
Gonna jump the shark here but it's easy one:
"I came here to kick ass and chew bubble gum and I'm all outta bubble gum"
@uunboundd Nailed it! I've always thought that line is straight up hilarious, and yeah, lots of folks have used it.
Here's one from early on in one of my all time faves: "Some dreams ruin being awake, if you know the difference. Best not to know."
@bondojoe Here's another from the same flick: "Eh, Fort Knox. Everybody's got a jig they dance about work. Fort Knox, hard knocks, plaid socks, Chinese fuggin puzzle box, it don't matter. In the absence of the benevolent aristocracy though, the old Colossus still got one foot planted in art and the other in commerce. Pissin on your head while he's wearin your wrist watch. Work is just work brother."
"God gave men brains larger than dogs' so they wouldn't hump women's legs at cocktail parties."
This should be an easy one. “It’s only after we’ve lost everything that we’re free to do anything.”
This one is easy. Let's see who can get it the quickest with the movie title and actor's name. No cheating. ;)
"Do you wanna know how I got these scars? My father was a drinker...and a fiend. And one night, he goes off crazier than usual. Mommy gets the kitchen knife to defend herself. He doesn't like that. Not...one...bit."
@DemandingFemale You being a zombie movie freak (like myself) I bet you know where the "double tap rule" comes from too.
@mrkim56 What about...
"They're coming to get you, Barbara"
&
"We're coming to get you, Barbara"
“Hey, Goose, you big stud. Take me to bed or lose me forever.”
“Show me the way home, honey.”
Maybe a tough one for some. "If we're collapsing right now, I'm gonna collapse on them. I'm not gonna wait for them to collapse on us."
@DemandingFemale Nope! It looks like I have everyone stumped! I think it's a great movie, too! I guess it's not very popular. One more clue! It also has the late River Phoenix.
@bondojoe The jungle one. lol. Can't remember its name without hitting Google and I don't wanna cheat.
"Inconceivable."
"You keep saying that word but I don't think it means what you think it means."
Got another one. " If I stay here, you're all gonna end up drowning with me."
"We'll learn to swim. I love you. "
@RandomOne The young actress who played Newt (Carrie Henn) struck up such an emotional bond with Sigourney Weaver that they corresponded every year and into her adulthood. As I recall she even gave her a necklace that the young actress cherishes to this day.
Most of her scenes were severely trimmed by the inital theatrical release. But the director's cut adds all of them back in and explains what happened to her family and how the colony was infected.
Someone should get it right away. “Peace isn't merely the absence of conflict, but the presence of justice.”
@RandomOne That movie is insane. The things they talk about are way out there. Like harvesting adenochrome from the brain of humans just to get high.
@bondojoe I'll give you another quote from the same movie. This should make is easy peasy.
"Dispatch war rocket Ajax to bring back his body"
@DemandingFemale OK! Flash Gorden. I used to watch the ORIGINAL, in black and white, back in the 1950's!
"if we've got any surprises for each other, i don't think either one of us is in much shape to do anything about it."
"I had another Liam Neeson nightmare. I kidnapped his daughter and he wasn't having it."
"They made three of those movies. At some point you have to wonder if he's a bad parent."
"I am but a woman, with all the imperfections natural to the weakness of my sex;”
If you can't figure it out here is the rest of the line
[SPOILER]
Teeny💋
"i can't tell you... that was one of the best times i ever had. it was. but, you know, i knew something must be rotten in Denmark. there was no way you could like me that much. man, i can't tell you how relieved i was when you took off your dress, you... you didn't have a d**k."
@uunboundd Haha so you know? Cheated, schmeated, you told me you did it so it's an honest cheat!
"Gentlemen we don't stop until nightfall."
"What about breakfast?"
"You've already had it."

Post a line, or quote from a movie, and see who can guess what the movie was, and who said it. I'll start.... "Negative. I am a meat popsicle."
