UN Votes to Condemn Russia's Invasion

The United Nations General Assembly voted in overwhelming support to adopt a resolution condemning Russia's invasion of Ukraine less than a day before the war in eastern Europe reaches its one-year mark.

During an emergency session Thursday, 141 nations approved the resolution calling for Russia to "immediately, completely and unconditionally withdraw all of its military forces from the territory of Ukraine." The resolution also emphasizes the need to quickly establish peace between the two countries.

Among the members in favor include some of Ukraine's strongest allies to have provided military support since the start of Russia's invasion, including the United States, which helped draft the resolution.

Belarus, North Korea, Eritrea, Syria, Mali, Nicaragua and Russia

It would have been surprising if Russia voted against the invasion. The interesting part is that nearly all the countries that share a border with Russia abstained.

@JudgeDredd Haha right?? Like it's not totally obvious the only ones against had a russian gun to their head or are already on list of human-rights abusers so they get-in where they fit-in:

We should also watch which companies observe the sanctions, and those who remain in Russia.

Those ignoring or even profiting from sanctions include Mars and Mondalez (confectionery, pet food), Pirelli and Bridgestone (tyres), John Deere, Caterpillar and Cummins (agricultural and industrial machinery), Hilton, Hyatt, Marriot, Accor and other hotel companies.
Heiniken has just reversed its previous policy and is leaving under international pressure (including the Buttless boycot).
