I see some users don't like them. Should we remove thumbs down buttons completely?

In my opinion, both thumbs need to be removed. Too many haters, leaving a thumbs down on pleasant comments. I got 3 thumbs down for a comment I made on Black Panther. And I was excited about seeing the film. If someone wants to hate on somebody else, have them do it without concealing their identity. I'm just saying, that's like bullying/hateful actions and not being accounted for it. Thank You 2 Movies. <br>

@WEBHEAD🕸️ That's a perfect example of what I wrote below in my comment. They didn't agree with you, so voting down is actually abusing the purpose of the thumbs down button. I honestly believe that about 50% of the people who do this are unaware of the actual purpose of the button (they think it's for "agreement") and the other 50% that abuse it are VERY angry. LOL Sorry for your negative experience. I've been there many times. Best of luck.

At the end of the day we are all entitled to our opinions and, if you don't want anyone to have an opinion on your posts well, don't post anything. I personally value the thumbs up/down features both on forums and film/tv links and most users have the good sense to vote how they genuinely feel about topics etc despite a few petty A-holes that just thumbs down for the hell of it or because they dislike someone. I think classifying it as 'bullying' is a bit harsh but that is jst my opinion. Let the thumb action commence...... ;) ;)

I've been around film sites since 2007. To one degree or another the "thumbs down" vote is abused by certain people. For example, do you disagree with the comment? That's not what the button is for; it's for relevancy and helpfulness. So, ask yourself, is the comment relevant and/or helpful, not "Do I agree with their opinion." To be honest, it wouldn't be missed by very many. I believe most people misuse the thumbs down and then a potential hate-war begins. I've seen it a million times and once set into motion it cannot be reasoned with. I wouldn't miss it. That said, comments that get personal/demeaning/are hate speech of any kind...those need to be dealt with. Having a different opinion, or sharing information that may not have been considered, these are neutral. This site still seems to be a democracy, and I'm really delighted to see it. Thank you very much.

@ I want to add that one word comments are not helpful, such as "boring", "rubbish", "brilliant"...all of which you can find on the same film by 3 different members. Therefore, in those circumstances, the comment was NOT helpful to ascertain whether or not someone looking into the film or series would want to go further. Comments are meant to be helpful opinions. We can't all agree, but one word doesn't say why someone liked or disliked something.

On one hand the down vote is useful if you disagree with the post, on the other hand it's a heavily abused feature.
