Just check this: www.lumendatabase.org/notices/18...

I have no words do describe this. NBCUniversal send this request to Google, and Google removed dozens of home pages, including our home page. And Google accepted it as a VALID request! smiley

For those like myself who are not so in the know about such things, what does this mean in regards to this site?

@mrkim56 Taking down any information allowing others to search the site, thus breaking down the site's self sustaining capability and rendering the linkers devoid of income.

I got a notice the other day when trying to send the site info through FB to a friend that they refused to transmit the info.

Maybe Gemini set this up. He threatened the site several times. SOMEONE had to do it! Look to someone that had a grudge because they didn't get their way.

@bondojoe I would suggest that a memeber member generated "name and shame" , or witch Hunt, is a dangerous thing.

Please send any suspicions to Doc directly through PMs to avoid any ganging up on ANY member of this site.

Otherwise, this is the equivalent of "guilty" until proven innocent" (just as it was with me when Doc asked me to look at a Reddit post. A post I was openly accused of looking up the information on on my own -- false information that turned into a witch hunt, and deeply hurt me).

I'm suggesting that this isn't something anyone would like done to them.

@Dr.Evil Does the site stats say that there is a lot of traffic via Google searches?

I would have thought it would have been more word of virtual-mouth and third-party sites with streaming site lists?

@DemandingFemale I'm pretty sure I found this site through a Google search. It's been quite a long time though so I can't be sure.

@rickgrimesrocks I've always found that reputation usually fuels traffic more than Google (other search engines are available)

Searches like: "Where can I watch movies for free?" & "Best free movie" usually return results for third-party lists of some of the top sites.

If people are looking for a specific movie "Watch Endgame for free" "Stream Endgame online" - Any direct results are buried or blocked. Most of the time the best you'll get is social media posts with links, some of them referral links to the sites.

@bondojoe Yes some address changes - our reaction to such requests.

So am I okay to still use this site safely? I love it here, from the easy-to-navigate page setup to the amount of variety and everything in between, I have no complaints. I even get my news here and so far everyone has been really awesome. I would be sad if I woke up one day and couldn't come here! Should I be concerned?

@dragonfly1985 I wouldn't be concerned with safety on this site as it's just, for the most part, a directory. If they start shutting down hosting sites, then you should be alarmed.

Well, lets be honest here. Every industry has its pros and cons. Profit has always been relative to legal risk. The bigger the risk, the bigger the financial returns. The problem with streaming sites is that it is seen as depriving financial income from the copyright holders. And they are right up to a point. Truth be told, a studio will take a hit from loss of future income.

However, at the rate movies are made these days, it becomes impossible to view anything other than the blockbusters or the Oscar nominees. Movies of lesser quality or budget would be doomed to oblivion had it not been for the streaming community which provides the much needed advertisement through word of mouth. And it is that community that makes or breaks the reputation of a movie or TV show. Take "Expanse" as an example, the show was cancelled after 3 seasons on SyFy. Fans protested the cancellation, gathering over 100,000 signatures for an online petition. They lobbied Amazon Studios and Netflix to pick the series up; a crowdfunding campaign paid for an airplane to fly a "#SaveTheExpanse" banner around Amazon Studios. Are we to believe that those over 100.000 fans were all Syfy subscribers who then traded their subscriptions to Amazon just to follow the show?
