@ᗩᖇᗰᕮᕮK Woww!!!! Those were the days my friend. Get in, strap yourself and fly like the birds. The planes by comparison to today were only held together by string, scotch tape and prayers. But the triplane......wow, Red Baron....what a story, what a pilot!!!!

•Inspirational Story...........•A Bit Of Warmth...........•By Joseph J. Mazzella•

•It was a morning in January. The jet stream had dipped down causing the arctic cold to reach the mountains of my home. It was only 2 degrees outside but the wind chill made it feel like it was 15 below zero. Still, I was kneeling in the snow along side of my house trying to open a tiny door so I could get underneath it. I had forgotten to leave my water dripping the night before and now my water pipes were frozen and my faucets were dry.The wind cut into me like a knife while I struggled to get two electric space heaters in place around the section of frozen pipe. The waterlines were buried except for a small piece that connected up to my house. I put a space heater on each side of it, ran the extension cords into my house and plugged them in. Both heaters roared to life and started blowing hot air on the frozen water pipe. My fingers had already started to go numb so I stayed inside to wait. I could only hope that this bit of warmth could get my water flowing again. Finally, after twenty minutes the water started flowing through my faucets again. I went back outside into the bitter cold and gathered my heaters up. I looked at the weak January sun shining on the frozen snow and smiled. Then I sent a joy filled "thank you" heavenward and went back inside to make myself a hot breakfast.Sometimes the coldness of this life can get to us as well. It can make our hearts feel icy and frozen. It can keep our kindness and love from flowing out to others. At times like these, though, all we need is a bit of warmth to get us going again. It can be a simple smile, a kind word, a heart-felt hug, a morning sunrise, a bird’s song. Let us all be grateful for those bits of warmth that get us going again. And let us all try to be that bit of warmth for others every chance we get.....

@ᗩᖇᗰᕮᕮK That is quite beautiful indeed. And a smile does indeed work wonders, even for someone as grumpy as me in the mornings smiley

Having said that, I can relate to this story as it reminds me the winters of Canada. My car being frozen shut. Doors stuck from the ice and my cigarettes trapped inside smiley smiley The sight of my cousin going under the car to defrost the gearbox using a cigarette lighter, will forever be imprinted on my memory. Despite the ugliness of the situation, the laughs that came out of this were monumental smiley smiley smiley

@JudgeDredd Great story and very common here up to date, very heavy winter here this year, cars were so deep in snow you had brush off the snow till you found yours....But I love it...lol

Stay strong and leftie (or at least on that side of the pitch) and have a great one.

@..box.. Thank you kindly for your wishes. smiley smiley

Although I am not a leftie but neither a righty per se, I agree with certain ideologies from each side of the spectrum. Personally I prefer to distinguish between political actions that are just versus the ones that are unjust. Basically, I owe allegiance to no one and call the bullsh*t from which ever side it comes from. smiley

@bondojoe smiley smiley smiley Thank you Joe for your heartfelt wishes. Interestingly, I was born a conservative, as my entire family are conservatives. So I don't know if you want to revise your wish smiley smiley smiley

@JudgeDredd Remember what Churchill said about the connection of age with being liberal and conservative. smiley

@Bread&Circuses smiley smiley smiley I don't know what old Winston was thinking but when I was a teenager, my moral compass was ruled by other bodily parts than my heart. Plus I was born a conservative so I guess I was heartless to begin with. smiley smiley

@ᗩᖇᗰᕮᕮK Sweet !!! I am not sure what is better. The foreground or the background. The hotrod looks awesome. The babe should come with a pair of scissors to complete the present ;-)

@ᗩᖇᗰᕮᕮK tough one!!! Both seem to be able to achieve a 0-60 in record times. But as women of this stature are found more frequently than the car, I would opt for the rare find. Besides, the beauty of women is measured on the difficulty of the hunt. Having her delivered and ready to go removes half the fun :-)

@ᗩᖇᗰᕮᕮK It would be a real pleasure. Thank you, although I don't see myself visiting in the near future. Haven't been there since 2003.

Anyways, have a good weekend too and stay safe yourself. I remember traffic police having no sense of humour

@maeGastar WOWWW!!!! That is really well made!!! And succeeds in presenting Athens in a really appealing manner. If you ever lived there, you would probably be a little entertained too. They did manage after all to hide all the shortcomings of this city ;-)

In any case, my view of Greece is more like this:

@maeGastar I totally feel you. The big blue is simply amazing. If you ever go to Santorini, you must go with a boyfriend or husband. Its simply one of the most romantic islands in Greece. If you wanna go partying though....well you have serious choices there. If you want relaxation, sure you will find plenty of islands for that too....with 4000 islands to chose from it becomes a difficult choice :-)

@ᗩᖇᗰᕮᕮK Am I to suppose that all the vehicles on the picture are on your to do list for restoration? The Dakota would be the most impressive by far.

Nice to meet you btw. Whereabouts Canada are you in? I lived in Montreal for 2 years
