senior guru I am a plug'n'play person, happily using Googlecast until they sided with "bigbrother" and are now blocking all sites where I live. So had to change browser and drag out the old HDMI cable to connect laptop to not-smart TV, bit of a trip hazard but works for me. I thought you could network smart TVs? (shows you how much I know!) One of my TVs tells me I can go online, It's just a little smart but has no camera or microphone, which I prefer. I haven't figured out how to do it. In the meantime, am looking for a universal cast and will let you know if ever I find one.
