These are mature trees that have been in the ground for over 100-150 years and the main stems have grown together to form a trunk. Two years ago one became diseased and was cut off at ground level. We all had a cry. It has since resprouted and the 4 dominant sapling shoots out of the stump are already 3-4 inches thick and 12 or so feet high with full foliagen no berries yet. The other two are maybe 100+ feet tall. The birds bite off a clump, eat a few berries and drop the clump on the ground. The mess is incredible. The winters are mild here and it gets very hot, I don't know how they would do in the cold. Couldn't find a picture of a full tree, they are quie attractive before the birds get at them.
