Favourite TV Theme Songs (508 views, 51 replies)
I have to say this was my favourite on my favourite during those early years and still is ...
@DemandingFemale Never did. There was a period at boarding school when we missed out on it. I think I might be too mature for it now.
@DemandingFemale I had a wee look and I guarantee that there comes a time in a man's life where Monkey just doesn't reflect the times nor the necessities of that man. I'm afraid the opportunity has moved on to other things more mature. Monkey just doesn't cut the mustard round here DF
@..box.. By sheer coincidence, I've been calling my husband David Cassidy all week. He really needs a haircut! lol
Who loves ya, Baby? When lollipops became cool
That's enough hogging for one day. This is a trip down memory lane and I was a sickly child and a telly addict.
@DemandingFemale I remember him from the Jason King which must have been a spin off to the above.
This one was a bit out of my league as to following anything they were saying then but the music stuck
This is from Thomas Newman, the same guy that brought us the music from American Beauty and loads of others
@ Believe it or not, these were the lyrics we learned at national/primary school about Bonny Prince Charlie escaping to Skye
The Skye Boat Song
Speed, bonnie boat, like a bird on the wing,
Onward! the sailors cry;
Carry the lad that's born to be King
Over the sea to Skye.
Loud the winds howl, loud the waves roar,
Thunderclaps rend the air;
Baffled, our foes stand by the shore,
Follow they will not dare.
Though the waves leap, soft shall ye sleep,
Ocean's a royal bed.
Rocked in the deep, Flora will keep
Watch by your weary head.
Many’s the lad, fought in that day
Well the claymore did wield;
When the night came, silently lay
Dead on Cullodens field.
Burned are their homes, exile and death
Scatter the loyal men;
Yet ere the sword cool in the sheath
Charlie will come again.
Here are a few old ones I loved as a kid. When I hear them they bring back such an awareness of that time, it's crazy how sounds, smells, etc can do that.
@ Oh yes! I love James Garner he is so great. He made my husband cry in the Notebook and me as well. I loved Murphy's Romance though. I can remember making a pallet at the foot of my parents bed some nights when I was scared or just didn't want to sleep alone and they would be watching The Rockford Files or Taxi. Those theme songs really bring back great memories for me.
Here is one from recent times that I just absolutely love. It is by Georgi Kay and her music is hauntingly beautiful. She is actually in the series Top of the Lake season 1.
Its Cold Outside - Red Dwarf

I also love the end theme song to the original berserk anime..
