Best and Worst movie of 2022 - 1 submission for each catagory (698 views, 63 replies)
@18635fdgd I checked online at Whole Foods for golden raspberries - they have golden raisins but no golden raspberries - aren't you from the country that had the Golden Apples or was it the Golden Fleece?
Best Movie?

Worst movie:
Spiderhead dosmovies.com/film/Spiderhead
@M3g4m1nd thanks for mentioning the gray man. I didn't even know about it. I think you can guess what I'll be doing this morning.
Too much thinking on my side the reason I can't select best and worst. To explain a bit: I choose what to watch and many times I reject soon after.
I can say that the year 2022 brought up -established a very good Master Director , Mr Taylor Sheridan. His works set a higher level of comparison and competition. I think after his works, other directors to be able to be commercial and American need to steal some of his tricks.
Russian and Chinese productions en masse were mimicking the American in order to achieve blockbusting and universal acceptance and they failed.
I think Indian and Korean cinema achieved excellence and has shown a raise in streaming acceptance and maturity.
Mr Cameron once more proved his worth and blew off the cash registers - his work should be also a lesson for others.
Marvel and NetFlix said too much and done bad Art and disputable products without resonance. They need to re- evaluate their path.
The quarantine raised the expectations of the audience, made them focus and organize their needs in shows and thus they became better in their selections and more difficult to please.

OK, I have read your disclaimer - for god sake! - list the best and worst - doesn't matter what anyone thinks - it's your opinion - I AM SURE you have a favorite and another that made you feel ill while looking for a hammer to take to your screen. Doesne't matter where the film was made I saw a 1985 made in Argentina - BRILLIANT FILM - which won an award last night in the US as the best Foreign film (about the military junta in Argentina on trial in a civilian court.. )
You write meaningful articulate reviews - please enter your choices. You really should but it's up to you. No explanations are necessary - up and down vote cheers
@18635fdgd OK! you're running ahead - we'll get to the best series. I would prefer not to separate the categories because the members here are from all over the world - so - let's choose based on the quality of the content no matter where it comes from. sound good? What's 'foreign to me may not be to you> Let's treat it based on merit and good storytelling
The best would have to be The Banshees of Inisherin.
Any year in which Kevin Heart stars in a movie that movie will be my choice for worst and this year we were cursed with 3. Me Time, The Man from Toronto, and Super-Pets. TBH, I didn't watch the 1st one. Kevin Hart and Mark Wahlberg. 'nuf said. I was hoping that Woody Harrelson might make The Man from Toronto worth my time, but I was mistaken. Super-pets? I think Hart and Johnson are 2 of the most overrated actors of all time and watching anything that they are in together makes me want to commit acts of violence upon myself for having the poor judgment to do so.
@Contrarian OK! another for Banshees. (I really have to watch it - won a golden globe a few days ago.) I read your feedback on The Worst and as a critics therapist, I have concluded that Super Pets inflicted the most trauma and I truly hope you won't require electric shock therapy to overcome this assault on the senses and overall intelligence. (sounds like Third World countries might play this 24x7 in prisons..) thanks for your response!
@bigsteve Been there, done that. Electric shock therapy is highly overrated as a form of treatment for trauma.
Best - The Banshees of Inisherin
They could film Brendan Gleeson making a toasted cheese sandwich and I would watch it.
Worst - Hellraiser
Almost went with Halloween End but it was so crap it doesn't deserve to get voted for anything.
@DemandingFemale Thank you - I agree Brendan Gleeson is a very talented actor and I always enjoy watching him. The WORST category seems to be the hardest - too many to choose from!! think of the $$$ millions spent on this!! You'd think that picking the WORST movie wouldn't be harder than picking the worst politician?
Best movie for 2022 _According the IMDB date/year : Avatar: The Way of Water 2022
Worst Movie for 2022 : Black Adam 2022
WOW! you shocked me! I was stunned and had to drink more coffee before I could type. would have never thought you'd choose 'Avatar" - quite a masterpiece and I hope it does more than $2 bil. Black Adan disappointing.. thanks!
Top Gun: Maverick best movie of 2022.
No idea of the worse one, I avoid those by investigating movies and show on imdb.com.
I most oven draw the line at the 6.0 rating.
@Bread&Circuses thanks for weighing in - Are you sure there is not 1 film you watched you wished you didn't? With all the ones you've seen? think about - maybe it will come to you in a nightmare
@bigsteve I did fall to sleep watching Enola Holmes 2 . I enjoyed the first one.
Eternals was pretty lame.
I would have to say mindcage or black Adam as the best in my opinion I watch more "TV Shows" and "Japanese Anime" over movies an when I do watch movies I normally watch "Netflix New Movies like Netflix made movies" or I find things on the main page from the "Popular now, Top 7 days, Top 30 days, Top 3 months, Top 6 months. That is normally how I find my movies.
Worst movie would have to be "Violent Night".
These movies are based on movies I have seen from 2022 that I would watch again in 2023 or just enjoy rewatching.
I hope this makes sense. Sometimes I find different types of movies better then others. Example I like batman of superman but I still have seen every episode of "Smallville" several times. It all depends on what a person finds entertaining. And I have not seen every movie that has ever been released in (2022) this is just what I recall seeing and would rewatch.
@CosmoQueen88 Awwww, I loved Violent Night. I thought it was a great Christmas gorefest. But, I have really bad taste.
@DemandingFemale The action was great but to have "Santa" being a "D**k" from time to time was a bit hard for me to watch. Like he is who he is but come on. Keeping it funny was okay but it was a bit gross at 1 point I didn't like at [SPOILER] otherwise the movie was okayish. I know I wont watch again but I did like the "Santa" actor from his other work. The kid in the movie did kind of act a bit childish and then teen age boy such a "D**k" at times as well. I like what I like and some people have interest in comic based movies or star wars and star track and stuff but personally I can't keep up with some stuff. I just watch it once and if I like it I do repeat watches them are my favorites. If I can't make it through a whole movie then nope totally hate it. But "Violent Night" I did watch all the way through.
@CosmoQueen88 You raise a very good point I didn't consider - deconstructing our myths - to be replaced with what? Siri? That's why on my wall at Xmas time I posted a montage of images of Miracle on 34th Street 1947 and a tribute to Natalie Wood - really great movie and story
@CosmoQueen88 I think his behaviour/attitude was part of the point. You don't get to be millennia-old, having done the same thing every year with evermore ungrateful, greedy kids without losing your Christmas spirit.
I've seen Santa act much worse in some of the other Christmas horrors.
@DemandingFemale Its true spirit is important but I don't really remember a whole lot about the movie it was a one time watch for me and didn't pull me in for the long hall. I watched it from beginning to end and that was that. I was expecting something a bit different then what I had watched was all.
@DemandingFemale There is something endearing about a Viking Santa that's good with weapons..
@bigsteve I loved the part when there was a bit of history for the current Santa but it took a little while to get to that point. Now if there was a version of a "Santa" that was a "Viking that turned Santa" and you seen how he was when he just became Santa and there was some old timey stuff I think I could get behind something like that or a story like "A tale of the "Santa's" and have like the top (5) worst men that became santa and had a bit of story about each one. Kind of like a how some movies will take a bad man like a "Gangster and turn them into better men" or something kind of like how "Samaritan" turned out. Every body knows santa is a kind old soul but come on is he "REALLY". If there was a movie with a fun twists that would be pretty cool.
@CosmoQueen88 I think they did cover a little of his genesis and how he got the role - as Santa - some kind of karma He does dispatch the bad guys and reach his character arc. A different twist on it. To me - Miracle on 34th St is the best - a man claims to be the real Santa and has to defend himself in court! and a 10 year old comes to his aid Brings back the magic
@bigsteve Not enough violence and swearing in Miracle on 34th Street for me ;)
@CosmoQueen88 Great - we are going to do another survey/poll for shows/series and anime I think it would be good to cover the different genres as there is a wide membership here appreciate your response cheers
@bigsteve The only thing hard about reviewing "anime" is that there are "Anime Shows" "Anime Movies" "Anime Live Action". When it comes to "Anime Shows" there all different kinds form Sci-fi, to mecha, to horror, to comedy, to subbed to dubbed. Some like different things and there is always different ones being released all the time. From week to week and month to month. Now if there was a area to put like "Favorite anime of January 2023" and then go by month for each comment. Since there are new stuff coming out all the time. Same as Movies and TV Shows. Some people have favorite actors and actresses but then they see a movie or show with that person and it might suck. It dose not mean that that person is no longer there favorite it just has to do with the movie or show. Plus there are things people are waiting on and also has seen. ...

@CosmoQueen88 Very good point SO - I reckon you have movies and series and only the best of. WE have some time to figure it out and get some feedback thank u!
@bigsteve Did you want something from (2022) or (2020's) or (2020), (2021), (2022) and then have a area in the forum with trailers for upcoming "Anime TV Shows" I get a lot of information for new "Anime Shows" from "Animenewsnetwork" for upcoming Anime Shows and release dates if you would like I could throw a list of thing together from youtube for trailers for "Upcoming Anime Show Releases" it would also be nice to have a list of"Netflix and or places but not just "Anime" stuff." But for "Original" stuff from different steaming services. And then people can comment one what they are looking forward to.
@CosmoQueen88 You have so many great questions,., maybe ALL TIME FAVORITE - best ones you've ever seen? I'd like to see that list - wouldn't you?
@bigsteve When it comes to "Anime" there is not a everyday list on "Dosmovies" I mean "Anime Sites" get updated more often. So do you want me to just place the titles and then link to youtube videos for the trailers and then link to dosmovies for the ones with the Anime.
@CosmoQueen88 What thought we'd do is a poll asking for viewer choices - However I think what you suggest is a great idea with the following caveat - if you want to post a list on DOS - it should of content available on Dow and get permission to load a trailer link - a really great idea - we need to moderators approval - I will check their Anime list and take a look great ideas but we need the mods approval I think...
@bigsteve I actually just made a quick list of my top (5) anime titles of all time and I looked around on Dos and I could find the shows but the first episodes are gone and the one episode for the first show had only (1) link and it was not even subbed. I did added trailers from YouTube quickly enough just by search for the trailer on YouTube on a different opened tab and then took the URL and added it with the YouTube button on the forum. I only added (5) since there was nothing from the (5) to really add from dos to the list and if I had gone and added more and had the "Trailers" and someone had gotten interested but could not watch it on dos I didn't think it would be worth adding to the list if there was no way to watch it on here. "I plan to look through each episode for the (5) shows and see what episodes are missing and then see if I could find them online and see if I could add them to the show and then update the list." I really do enjoy watching Anime I have been a big fan since I was a kid and I know people watch the "anime" stuff from other sites but I think it would be nice if dos had more anime for people that just happen to stumble upon it and that don't use many other sites."
@CosmoQueen88 Ok - you added to the trailer from youtube on the actual DOS site? (I am unfamiliar with this, just asking.) There are other sites that have most of the anime with subs (Asian sites) and could be loaded on Dos - but i have no idea how that works I did check the anime list on DOS clicking the anime genre - no idea how current it is. I think we should create the poll first and start with favorite titles.. a little easier - as a starting point. I do admire your'take charge' attitude and follow-up. very impressive - you'd be good company during a zombie invasion.
@bigsteve I decided to stop at the (5) and then I went to youtube an grabbed the first "English Dubbed" episodes for a few of the shows from the list. And I was going to place links for the shows. But instead I decided to just start with (1) Show and then find all the episodes in "English Dubbed" and then add the episodes 1 at a time until the show was finished and then once the show was finished I decided on making a forum called "Anime Shows With English Full Episodes" or some thing similar and then just link to the "dosmovies" for each of the shows that are finished. For example I'm currently working on "The Ancient Magus Bride" current episode is (6) out of (24) once I am finished I will make a forum and add the main page and then a trailer from youtube and then I will keep going with some other animes I find. I plan to do the (5) from the top (5) list and then just keep going. ...

@CosmoQueen88 I thought about it and think that there should be 2 different classifications of anime - one, USA and the other Asian If you do a poll under a 'general' most would vote Batman or star wars etc - so I think it better to start with 2 polls for anime one for USA and the other for Asian and I think you should do the post on the forum as you really know the genre anyways think about it
There are not many movies made these days that I have an interest in watching. So a lot of movies I never saw. My two choices are entirely based on my personal opinion and in no way influenced by the masses or critics.
Best is "The Banshees of Inisherin"
Worst is "Everything Everywhere All at Once"
@bigsteve My pleasure, thanks for your query.
It all just seemed pointless. I tried to like it but couldn't even watch the whole thing. I grew up on bizarre, Monty Python for example, and the absurdity of EEAO just never grabbed my attention. "Violent Night" was hilarious for me and is in my top 10 for 2022!
Sorry I'm 2 weeks late on answering your message. I put some thought into best Pic. Of course everyone knows I am going to pick a horror movie from my arsenal. My pick is
Speak no evil
dosmovies.com/film/Speak_No_Evil...
My reasoning for this choice is the feelings that this film produced in me. It was made to make you feel uncomfortable and to raise your anxiety. It truly succeeded in that manner. Best isn't always the funniest, the most action or the biggest budget. For me I love thought provoking films, films that can put you on edge like that and when a movie sticks with you and you think about for days.
The worst film in going with
Crimes of the future
dosmovies.com/film/Crimes_of_the...
I was disappointed with this one. I was expecting a phenomenal horror but didn't feel like they carried the story throughout that film.
