For years, Finn and Natalie walked the same path. But when their time together comes to an end, Finn finds himself lost in a mysterious land. Paralyzed by the fear of moving on, he is at risk of losing himself. Through self-discovery, Finn must gather the strength to forge a new way forward.

Sonder takes us inside of the mind of a man who is paralyzed by the fear of moving forward after he and his girlfriend break up....This is a tremendously moving short film that I think many people will be able to relate to.................. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 “𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚, 𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙨 & 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮”

✴ A single mother drives out with her young son to a shore house outside of the city. Helmer’s character recently landed a life changing choreography gig and she feels as though the locale better facilitates her creative endeavors. Her neighbor comes over to check on her and play with her son, Bowen. The neighbor proves to be quirky and mysterious. What follows is a beautifully shot montage sequence wherein Helmer’s character rehearses in the woods.

✴ We are introduced to the monster of this film- a ghastly fairy...All though Initially, the creature is a dead dried up husk..........The neighbor inspects the corpse and deems it to be a bat.

✴ An obsessive choreographer on a creative retreat with her toddler awakens a fairy corpse with disturbing intentions ........➤ vimeo.com/channels/staffpicks/29...

🔸This story tells of two friends who were walking through the desert. At some point in the journey they had an argument, and one friend slapped the other one in the face. The one who got slapped was hurt, but without saying anything, wrote in the sand: "TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE." They kept on walking until they found an oasis, where they decided to take a bath. The one, who had been slapped, got stuck in the mire and started drowning, but the friend saved him. After the friend recovered from nearly drowning, he wrote on a stone: "TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SAVED MY LIFE."

🔸I went to see a friend today, A friend I had not seen Since he was in his twenties And I was still a teen, We were both inseparable then, See one you’d see the other Sharing everything we did, He was like a brother, But as so often happens, Too soon there came the day, When he decided to remain And I to move away, We wished each other good luck,Recalled good times we’d shared, Said that we would keep in touch See how each other fared, But of course that didn’t happen The days just came and went, No phone calls were ever made No greetings ever sent, How quickly the time passes And friendships start to dim, Although we went our separate ways I often thought of him, I wondered how he looked today How he had weathered life Did he still live in our old home town,Did he ever take a wife, One day I got a letter, And when I looked inside I read I regret to inform you That your friend has died..*I went to see a friend today As I’ve often said I would, To visit for a little while My promise to make good, I wish that I could tell him How bad I feel that I Never took the time to say hello Before I had to say goodbye.

Friendships are precious. Be sure to take some time to visit the people that are special in your life.

🔹 This multi-award winning short film shows us that in the near future, our legacy forces marine wildlife to adapt to there surroundings with unimaginable consequences. Hybrids is set in the oceanic depths, revealing the brutality of survival and the catastrophic effects of the pollution on our environment.

🔹When marine wildlife has to adapt to the pollution surrounding it......The rules of survival change.
🔹What you’re seeing looks real......Because it’s almost real in our world

🔹This is precisely why Hybrids is so impactful – it feels unsettlingly real. The aesthetic here is cleverly designed to imitate life, but seen through a twisted, hostile lens which inevitably hits home and leaves you wondering ‘is this all to come’? The ingenious character and sound design do a brilliant job of seamlessly blending the organic with the synthetic, tricking our eyes and ears into buying this dark vision of the future.

@..box.. hi hi hi. I deleted everything in my inbox and think I briefly saw your message but not sure. Were you asking about the film festival? Well, I ended up not seeing all of the films I had tickets to because of work stuff but Border (scandy fantasy film) was by far the most insane thing I've ever seen. The guilty was good and kind of different. A little bit like that Tom Hardy film where he's just driving the whole time. The new Cohen Brothers film, the ballad of buster scruggs, was good/weird. Started so strong and came up a bit short at the end but well worth a watch. Life Itself (from the same guy as "this is us") was good. I cried like a baby the whole time and i like that it's also a story about NYC in the background but it's almost too over the top with the heart wrenching story...at one point I had to laugh at how much I was crying like...This isn't real...

@kita2 Well you managed to squeeze a few in there and you have given me food for thought. I am a big cohen bros fan and I admit I am a sucker for "this is US" so I'll be crying like a chef cutting onions (apparently one way to avoid this is to cover the chopping board in lemon juice).

Just started a course on American film directors and the brothers Cohen are on the list along with Tarantino and pollack. We are looking at Tim Burton and his influences. I get homework to watch films and take notes - I think I died and went to heaven!!

What was the film about the couple - Cold War or something else?

The real Eleanor Riese (played by Bonham Carter in the movie), was diagnosed with schizophrenia when she was 25. At the time of the trial in 1989, she was 44, and had been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for several years preceding her case. During her stay at St. Mary’s Hospital in San Fransisco, Riese’s lawyers argued she developed physical symptoms caused by antipsychotic medication she did not consent to.....➤ dosmovies.com/watch_movie/55_Steps....

An elderly carpenter was ready to retire. He told his employer-contractor of his plans to leave the house-building business to live a more leisurely life with his wife and enjoy his extended family. He would miss the paycheck each week, but he wanted to retire. They could get by. The contractor was sorry to see his good worker go & asked if he could build just one more house as a personal favor. The carpenter said yes, but over time it was easy to see that his heart was not in his work. He resorted to shoddy workmanship and used inferior materials. It was an unfortunate way to end a dedicated career. When the carpenter finished his work, his employer came to inspect the house. Then he handed the front-door key to the carpenter and said, “This is your house… my gift to you.”The carpenter was shocked! What a shame! If he had only known he was building his own house, he would have done it all so differently. So it is with us. We build our lives, a day at a time, often putting less than our best into the building. Then, with a shock, we realize we have to live in the house we have built. If we could do it over, we would do it much differently. But, you cannot go back. You are the carpenter, and every day you hammer a nail, place a board, or erect a wall. Someone once said, “Life is a do-it-yourself project.” Your attitude, and the choices you make today, help build the “house” you will live in tomorrow.

@kita2 Lucky you!

We have the SSFF (SAN SEBASTIAN FILM FESTIVAL) starting today and continues for 8 days. Unfortunately travel committments mean we can only go to 3 - one being Beautiful Boy which I see is also showing in BFI. Also seeing Cold War which is a Polish film.

Great having the buzz on your doorstep.

Let me know if you would recommend anything you see.

@..box.. They're advertising Cold War all over the London subway right now and it looks great. (i realize this is just from a picture but i have a feeling...)

Sisters Brothers is an AMAZING book that I read a few years ago...think dark comedy meets western. The film is playing at your festival and I'm seeing it at BFI. I have a feeling the film won't live up to the book but I really really hope it does. If you can get tickets, it'll probably worth the view.

@kita2 It was so good, she said it twice LOL. It happens these repeated comments for no apparent reason.

I saw COLD WAR yesterday and it was fantastic - B&W, perfect photography, wonderful love story and some fantastic music. Well worth the effort.

Sisters Brothers is being shown later in the week but I won't be here unfortunately. I'm sure I will be out on the commercial circuit soon.

There was a big crowd and plenty of buzz outside the hotel to see Ryan Gosling but we didn't bother waiting - it was getting late. I thinking he is presenting First Man which is getting rave reviews.
