Hi Chaz,A friend's friend just inherited this, we don't know what it is, do you ?

I did find out that her father worked at Ferry Aviation so it may be aircraft related.
The case is likely 10 inches long.

@Bread&Circuses can't prove it yet but it appears to be a spaced rivet punch, my theory is you set the first 2 holes then rotate it to keep precise spacing the right side seem to be solid for tapping. the left may be like a nut you can undo and put in other set spacers. the case seems handmade and prolly the most common spacer/guide

@chaz1014 The most plausible supposition I've heard yet. Thank you, Chaz. See what else comes in over the next couple days. At this point you're the winner, but what do I know ?

@Bread&Circuses cases like these are usually made or come with precision tools like calipers and such, thats why i think its a punch of some kind or even for setting rivets. no idea how old they are but before their were rivet guns we had to poke the hole, set the rivet, then punch/squish the rivet together to hold

@chaz1014 True, but that's more of an on the line tool, a well used, worn instrument, I'd suppose. I wonder if it has fluids or bladders for air pressures, or some sextant like, too. As the line from Tomb Raider . . . I'm amused by my ignorance.

@Bread&Circuses tell your friend to contact the smithsonian or any aeronautic museum. perhaps even a company like boeing that builds planes.

From here on out I'll be posting my political cartoons on my wall, you'll have to come see them.
It's a lot of work to visit so many pages. I'm not getting nearly enough news in. smiley This may be good news to some folks.
