🔸 This Day In History........August 15th 1969 *On August 15, 1969, the Woodstock music festival opens on a patch of farmland in White Lake, a hamlet in the upstate New York town of Bethel. Promoters John Roberts, Joel Rosenman, Artie Kornfield and Michael Lang originally envisioned the festival as a way to raise funds to build a recording studio and rock-and-roll retreat near the town of Woodstock, New York. The longtime artists’ colony was already a home base for Bob Dylan and other musicians. Despite their relative inexperience, the young promoters managed to sign a roster of top acts, including the Jefferson Airplane, the Who, the Grateful Dead, Sly and the Family Stone, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Creedence Clearwater Revival and many more.
... *Half a million people waited on a dairy farm in Bethel, New York, for the three-day music festival to start. Billed as An Aquarian Experience 3 Days of Peace and Music, the epic event would later be known simply as Woodstock and become synonymous with the counterculture movement of the 1960s. Woodstock was a success. *But the massive concert didn’t come off without a hitch Last-minute venue changes, bad weather and the hordes of attendees caused major headaches. Still, despite—or because of—a lot of sex, drugs, rock ‘n’ roll and rain, Woodstock was a peaceful celebration and earned its hallowed place in pop culture history. 🔸 Hope you are well...Enjoy the weekend and always stay safe. ...1932 Indian Chief ✴The Chief was introduced as Indian’s heavyweight competitor to Harley-Davidson and lasted for 31 years. In 1922, 21 years after the company began building bikes, Indian launched the Chief with a 61 cubic inch flathead V-twin. Although a larger 74 cubic inch bike, called the Big Chief, was an option. ✴Indian remained faithful to the principle of a flathead, and in doing so escaped some of the pitfalls that Harley-Davidson encountered in their efforts with overhead valve designs. ✴The Indian was actually rather unconventional, with its left-hand twist grip (apparently so that policemen would be able to use their pistols with their right hand), a foot clutch, hand shift and the ignition advance controlled by the right handlebar grip. A 3-speed gearbox was standard, but a *Police Package 4-speed gearbox and a reverse gear were options. ... Hope all is well.....Have a great weekend.....Stay safe. Read moreLess
1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 Fastback *The Boss 429 also known as the "Boss" by enthusiasts is arguably one of the rarest and most valued muscle cars from the era. In total there were 1358 original Boss 429s made. For a two year run,1969 & 1970. The origin of the Boss 429 came about as Ford was seeking to develop a Hemi engine that could compete with the famed 426 Hemi from Chrysler..Boss Delivered Well Over 500 Horsepower. 🔹The Boss 429 engine was derived from the Ford 385 engine. It used four-bolt mains, a forged steel crank and forged steel connecting rods. The engine featured aluminum cylinder heads, with a modified Hemi type combustion chamber which Ford called "crescent". These heads used the "dry-deck" method, meaning no head gaskets were used. Each cylinder, oil passage and water passage had an individual "O" ring style seal to seal it tight. The Boss 429 engine used a single Holley 4-barrel carburetor rated at 735 CFM mounted on an aluminum intake manifold that flowed well for its time. ... 🔹 Though not originally offered as an option, it is common to add a spoiler and window louvers commonly seen on 1969–1970 Mach 1's and Boss 302's. Rancher John ★Old ranch owner John farmed a small ranch in Montana. The Montana Wage and Hour Department claimed he was not paying proper wages to his workers and sent an agent out to interview him....I need a list of your employees and how much you pay them,'demanded the agent. Well, replied old John, 'There's my ranch hand who's been with me for 3 years. I pay him $600 a week plus free room and board. The cook has been here for 18 months, and I pay her $500 a week plus free room and board. Then there's the half-wit who works about 18 hours every day and does about 90% of all the work around here. He makes about $25 per week, pays his own room and board and I buy him a bottle of bourbon every Saturday night. That's the guy I want to talk to, the half-wit, says the agent. That would be me, replied old rancher John. ... Farmer's Names ★George, the farmer, had so many children that he ran out of names. So he started calling his kids after something around his farm. It was the first day of school and the teacher asked each child their name. When he got to one of the farmer George's sons, the boy replied, 'Wagon Wheel. The teacher said, I need your real name boy, to which the lad replied, It's Wagon Wheel, sir....Really. The teacher, rather annoyed rejoined, All right young man, take yourself right down to the Principal's office this minute. The youngster pushed himself out of his chair, turned to his sister and said, 'C'mon, Chicken Feed, he ain't gonna believe you, either.

Famous & Inspiring Photography.............*Austrian Boy and his Shoes
The picture moves you to happy tears the moment you see it. The gentle curve of the child’s cheeks make you think that the innocence of infancy remains a permanent guest. The happiness is palpable, a pair of chubby little fingers clutch a pair of shoes to the chest of the little boy. Six-year-old Austrian boy, Werfel, was photographed when he got a new pair of shoes at the Am Himmel orphanage, donated to him.The photograph was first published in LIFE magazine on December 30, 1946 and later, again, on September 24, 1951 and was titled “New Shoes”. The picture is a beautiful effort in capturing the quintessence of childlike happiness. The abandon that children feel and profess, enjoying happiness in the littlest of things, in a life that an adult might otherwise be quick to profess as being filled with misery. The child’s ability to enjoy and cherish what has just been given to him, notwithstanding the fact that he lives in an orphanage, notwithstanding the historical events that had just unfolded snatching his comfortable life away from him, notwithstanding the fact that, that he doesn't understand were his parents are ...Reminds you how flawed our thinking is, to look at the negatives and focus on them. The expression of absolute purity in happiness is reminiscent of how beautiful life is – and wakes you up to straighten your own thinking when life strikes you down on occasion. ... ★Have you ever wished someone a Happy Easter only to be told it's not 'their' Easter yet? It happens to the best of us especially when we don't realize that our friends, or co-workers belong to the Orthodox Church, which celebrates Easter on a different day than the Catholic Church and the majority of the world. The dates are almost always different, except on rare occasions when the dates fall on the same day. Sounds confusing? It turns out that there is actually a carefully calculated system behind the day Easter is recognized. Easter is the day members of the Christian faith recognize the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. It is a celebration of life and new beginnings....*Orthodox Easter this year is on April 28th ... ★Before the invention of calendars and other modern methods of tracking years and seasons, people relied on the position of the sun in the sky and obvious signs in nature to indicate the passing of time. When the equator and the hemispheres of the Earth became common knowledge, it was understood that the slightly tilted rotation of the earth causes different hemispheres to experience different seasons. While one hemisphere experiences spring and summer the other hemisphere experiences fall and winter. This happening is called an equinox. The vernal equinox is the event that occurs in late March, which brings spring to the parts of the earth in the Northern Hemispheres. The council chose this equinox as part of the calculation to ensure Easter would be celebrated in the spring at the same time..
★Easter reminds us that hope must never be lost for as dark as the road may seem, there always lies light at the end of it......May all your prayers be fulfilled.......I wish you and your family with abundances of happiness and inner peace...........Have a Blessed Easter weekend...
