Have no idea how thick one can layer pics into a post, so figure it's a good idea to break it up...
Speaking of Corlys Velaryon, here is The Sea Snake himself, Master Of Ships.
Here is his cousin-wife, Rhaenys, so named in honor of her ancestor, sister-wife of King Aegon I The Conqueror. Notice she doesn't have white Targaryen hair. She has the black Baratheon hair.
Here is Laenor Velaryon, son of Corlys and Rhaenys, brother of Laena & 1st husband of Princess Rhaenyra who was murdered in Spicetown by Ser Qarl.
This is Laena Velaryon with her cousin-husband Daemon Targaryen. She was the daughter of Corlys and Rhaenys, the sister of Laenor, mother of the twins Baela and Rhaena. She died not long after giving birth to a son who didn't live long.

King Jaehaerys I really was the peak of Targaryen dynastic power on the continent of Westeros. He lived a long time, but named no heir, so the 1000+ nobles of Westeros assembled a Great Council to elect a successor to the Targaryen crown since the rightful heir, Rhaenys, was a woman and they wouldn't tolerate a female on the throne. They instead elected Viserys I. Here is King Jaehaerys I being tended to by Alicent Hightower.

The illustrations from the Wiki have always been impressive in terms the fact that fans take so much time to make such beautiful compliments to the author, George R.R. Martin.
Velaryons from Valyria are only [written by GRRM] to have hair of the palest silver or gold and eyes in [shades of] purple. Skin colour is never mentioned.
Nevertheless, since House of the Dragon is a brand new telling, and GRRM is in charge of creative control, the fan Wiki's aren't applicable for this series.
House of the Dragon is a brand new [part 2] of "Fire and Blood" which was always intended in written form by GRRM, but has now taken visual form. (Check out "Not A Blog" for GRRMs thoughts on this.)

-The Crownlands where Kings Landing is on the East Coast. This is where The Targaryens, Velaryons and Celtigars settled after they fled The Doom of Old Valryia. They arrived on Westeros last, after The First Men, The Andals, and The Rhoynar. Those were the days of The 100 Kingdoms, after Pre-Dawn and the giants, and Children Of The Forest to whom Westeros truly belongs. These noble houses are among those that produce a large army & navy. After the Targaryens were all but extinct and exiled, a branch of the Targaryens called House Baratheon gained The Crownlands. Bastards from The Crownlands take the name of Waters.
-The Stormlands are below The Crownlands on the East Coast. This is where House Baratheon rules. Banner houses in this area include Tarth, Estermont and Selmy, which form a large army. Bastards from here take the name Storm.

This is the former Freehold Of Valyria that was once mighty like Egypt, but fell like Atlantis in what is known as The Doom Of Old Valyria. Most everyone died in the cataclysm, but some fled into the rest of Essos, but some Valyrians made it to Westeros such as The Targaryens, Celtigars & Velaryons.
The Children Of The Forest were a peaceful magical culture, but The First Men from Essos invaded Westeros with bronze weapons. Then The Andals came with iron weapons, armor, knighthood & feudalism. The Valyrians however brought steel, prophetic dreams, magic & dragons and made very short work of conquering Westeros as all of the 100 Kingdoms but Dorne were forced to bend the knee to their Targaryen overlords. Their inferior swords used by King Aegon I The Conqueror to fashion The Iron Throne by his dragonfire.

The splendor of Old Valyria lasted thousands of years. They conquered the empire of Ghis, established The Freehold Of Valyria through much of Essos with such colonies as Volantis and even conquered the now unknown continent of Sothoryos. The dragonlords of Valryia also went all the way up the great Rhoyne River, conquering The Rhoynar, First Men and The Andals of Andalos, driving all three cultures to flee from Essos to invade Westeros just to get away from them.
Weird advanced sciences and blood magic are felt by many to have cursed the civilization, bringing The Doom of the Valyrian gods upon them, shattering the land in a massive cataclysm that caused it to break apart. Centuries after The Doom, the impact of Valyria is still felt. ...

In Old Valyria, There were about 40 noble houses and the Targaryens were nowhere near the top of all those dragonlords. However the Targaryens are also prophetic magicians, not just dragonlords.
This is Aenar Targaryen. About a decade before The Doom Of Valyria his daughter Daenys had a premonition of the coming annihilation of their civilization, so he sold all of his property in The Lands Of The Long Summer to raise money to flee Valyria and go to the safety of Westeros to start a brand new life.
Since they were not a powerful family, the Targaryens were seen as cowards for doing this. However, those who called them cowards died and after it was all over, the Targaryens were the only dragonlords left alive in the entire world. Those that didn't die in The Doom died during The Century Of Blood while the Targaryens made a new home on a smokey mountain in Westeros called Dragonstone. There Aenar became the first lord of Dragonstone in 114 BC (Before Conquest. AC means After Conquest. The events of The House Of Dragon begin at 105 BC when Aemma Arryn dies during childbirth - 219 years after Aenar brought the Targaryens to Westeros.

King's Landing, the capitol city of Westeros.
Aegonfort.
Most everyone thought King Aegon The Conqueror would make his capitol on the west coast in Old Town since that is where The Maester's Citadel was as well as The Starry Sept. Not so. Targaryen's are not Andals. They're Valyrians and observe Valyrian gods, not Andal gods or First Men old gods, so The New Gods answer to the Targaryens - not the other way around. Therefor King Aegon and his Queens went to the East Coast in The Crownlands near their home of Dragonstone. There in Blackwater Bay, they found three hills and named them - Aegon's Hill, Visenya's Hill, and Rhaenys' Hill.

Visenya and Rhaenys look peachy plenty in this. I'd like to read comics of this, like I was following Conan's when I was younger. Have they made any comics for this?
@18635fdgd Yes, but not for this series or the book it's based on (the series is actually the unwritten part two of the book Fire & Blood). The comic edition of the A Game of Thrones which is only the first book in the series of books named "A Song of Ice and Fire". The comic version is by Dynamite Entertainment and written by Daniel Abraham, and is called "A Game of Thrones".
@18635fdgd There are also graphic novels, however these are much longer and leave out very important details. They all range in about the 220+ pages. Again, they are by Daniel Abraham with GRRM's notations.

Please note that in this instance, Comics, and Graphic Novels are two separate and distinct categories.
All of the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series are in fact Graphic Novels, whereas they are not Comics [yet].
Again, both have a lot of material removed, so you will still miss a lot of relevancy.
They are more geared toward those who have already read the novels.
Good luck and I hope you enjoy whatever you choose.
This map shows the origins and paths of invasions of the First Men, Rhoynar, and Andals.
It wasn't quick. The First Men came from the Dothraki Sea, way East of the area shown on the map. It took a while for them to begin their progress from East to West, then to cross the land bridge that was The Arm Of Dorne. That was an entire 12,000 years BEFORE the Andals.
They brought horses, bronze weapons & armor with them, so that overpowered the indigenous Children Of The Forest.
They immediately began killing the little fellas & burning the sacred weirwood trees.

The Andal invasion disrupted several thousands of years of peace. 4 millennia of peace down the drain when they landed on The Fingers of The Vale on the continent of Westeros.
The Andals themselves came from a northern peninsula of Essos called The Axe. They migrated from there since they themselves had been invaded probably by the Empire Of Ghis. They stayed in the northern part of Essos, but moved over to the west in a hill area closer to The Rhoyne River, which is believed to be the greatest river in the world. It is so wide, to be in the middle of it, one cannot see land on either side. They called their new home Andalos.
There they invariably met the Rhoynar who taught them metal working & introduced iron to them. They developed the ideas of feudalism & knighthood, but The Freehold Of Valyria pretty much forced the Rhoynar to flee from the dragonlords, then the Andals also fled since they were being captured as slaves, and worse. There's nothing left of those cultures in Essos anymore after they fled.

Over the millennia, hundreds of petty kingdoms arose of The First Men who came long before. They developed their own noble houses, but didn't have iron, so their bronze weapons & armor couldn't withstand much of what the Andals had to dish out. The Andals killed off The Children, burning the remainder of the sacred weirwood trees. Petty kingdoms of The First Men fell, but were successful in some areas.
The North was never conquered by The Andals. House Stark chopped off all their heads, then Theon Stark set sail to Essos with their corpses on his ships, invaded Andalos & planted the decapitated Andal heads on pikes. The Crannogmen of The Neck also destroyed Andal armies. Needless to say, The Andals gave up on The North.
The Vale had been ruled by the First Men noble house of Royce. (Daemon Targaryen's 1st wife was a lady of House Royce.) The Andal House Of Arryn defeated House Royce, and The Vale has been ruled by the Andal house since. The First Men who survived the slaughter fled into the mountains & became the Vale Mountain Clans.
To this day, The Vale Mountain Clans rule themselves & are not ruled by anyone else. They are regarded as savages since they have such absurd notions that everyone has an equal voice in self-governance. The clans will attack anyone who has bent the knee, especially the Arryns, any chance they get.
Thousands of years later, Tyrion Lannister & his sellsword Bronn enlist them & bring them to King's Landing - to the shock of everyone else.

The Ironborn were no longer in The Riverlands, everyone bent the knee to Aegon The Conqueror and he then awarded stewardship to House Tully, who ruled from Riverrun for generations until House Lannister stripped them of the lands & titles then gave Riverrun to House Frey from The Twins, and possession of the cursed Harrenhal given to Petyr Balish, aka Little Finger after conspiring to murder Robb Stark & his mother Catelyn Tully at The Red Wedding of Catelyn's brother Edmure Tully to Roselin Frey.
Riverrun. Formerly House Tully, now House Frey.
The Twins. House Frey, where Roselin & Edmure were kept after lands & titles were stripped of him.
The Andals pushed from the Riverlands all the way to The Westerlands coastline on the continent. The First Men who were there had established many houses in The Age Of Heroes, although most of what is known as The Westerlands was part of The Riverlands and ruled by kings from those areas.
All of that changed when The Andals successfully intruded upon the area. The Westerlands is smaller than the other kingdoms, but it's rich with gold & silver mines. A First Men house named Lannister tricked House Casterly into giving up Casterly Rock, and therefor took a large chunk of those abundant mines for themselves.
With the mines, they also upjumped in power. When the Andals came, they in turn took over House Lannister. Their First Men lineage died out & The Andals named Lydden took the name of Lannister for themselves. In taking the name, they took their banner, their mines, their house & their power. Once this was done, several more Andal houses displaced First Men houses, then pushed into The Iron Islands before moving forth to The Reach.
Though rich, the small Westerlands area could not withstand the fire of Aegon The Conqueror, and they bent the knee. The Andal House Of Lannister stayed loyal to their Valyrian overlords through the centuries, but frequently were on the wrong side of history. During the civil war of The Dance Of The Dragons, they declared for The Greens & for this error, got their asses handed to them, and lord Jason of House Lannister was killed for his poor choices.

Kind of a lot, given this is not Game of Thrones (the first book in the series "A Song of Ice and Fire" and that this aspect has never been written. This is the FEMALE perspective, unwritten. Also, the drawings/illustrations are subjective). Fun, inspirational, but not useful for the House of the Dragon. Very good fan generated art work nonetheless. Applauded transference from the Wiki. Thank you!
Among the last places The Andals invaded was The Reach, the kingdom of the descendants of the hero Garth Greenhand who made everything bloom where ever he went - even women.
The military was very prepared for The Andals. They had a formidable navy, allied with The Children as well as consulted witches. Generations went by before The Andals set foot in The Reach. By this time, the noble houses simply greeted them when they finally arrived. From House Gardener at Highgarden all the way to House Hightower at Oldtown, The Andals were welcomed.
Blood didn't have to spill. Maidens were offered in marriage & the Andal cult of The Seven was accepted.

Dorne was never a target for Andal invasion since it was known to be inhospitable to The First Men who were already there.
The First Men who were already there pretty much just squabbled with themselves rather brutally for centuries. Only singular Andal explorers entered the wastelands of Dorne, but no armies as such.
Only after The First Men & Andals alike had been there for one thousand years did Dorne actually get landed upon & invaded by The Rhoynar fleeing in terror from the Valyrian dragonlords of Essos.
Valyria had been an peaceful pastoral backwater until they discovered dragons amongst the volcanoes. That changed everything. There had been another empire in the remote past called Ghis. The Valyrians expanded to the east upon that. Then they proceeded north & west into the area that most GRR Martin readers know as the Free Cities geographical area.
There were already people there such as The Andals & The Rhoyanr. It didn't take long before the Valyrian dragonlords were capturing them to work as slaves in their mines for the Valyrian appetite for various metals. A series of wars happened that caused these people to flee to Westeros.
The Rhoynish Wars started with the First Turtle Wars high up on the Rhoyne River upon of their city-states. While the Valyrians practiced a blood & fire magic, the Rhoynar used Water Wizards, which was very different. For generations, they fought the dragonlords until finally in the Second Spice War, the Valyrians flew over 300 dragons upon the Rhoynar and utterly destroyed their civilization & great military leaders.

GRR Martin fans take A World Of Ice & Fire as a single whole rather than just a resource for tv shows. It's a literary work. Tv shows & other content are just bonuses. It's an involved tapestry of stories on an entirely different planet in an entirely different time. When viewing the tv shows, it's fun for us geeks to know the world that the stories of the people that is set in. Martin is very good in creating not just characters, but histories, mythologies & national narratives.
In George's world, there are stories before stories. In the story of Westeros, we find a story of various peoples who have histories that go far back into the far ancient past, yet their pasts affect the present stories that we involve ourselves with, so sayeth George.
The continent of Westeros as we know it in books or film has a cool history.
Before There were 7 Kingdoms, there were thousands, then hundreds, then tens until the invasion of The Andals condensed all those petty kingdoms down to what we roughly know as the 7 we are familiar with. ...

When the Targaryen's came to Westeros, they brought a handful of dragons. All but one died. The one that lived was Balerion, who was the last creature to have seen Old Valyria at it's peak before The Doom. Balerion eventually became Aegon The Conqueror's Dragon. He became known as The Black Dread.
Before Aegon & his sisters & brother conquered Westeros, he & Balerion flew over the continent & mapped it out, then came back to Dragonstone & made The Painted Table.
Balerion was the largest dragon & lived to be over 200 years old and had several riders before he died of old age. Maegor The Cruel had him after Aegon died, then Princess Aerea Targaryen had him during her short life, when she flew him all the way back to Valyria, but died after returning. Unlike in Game Of Thrones, a dragon's scales are much too tough to be penetrated by a weapon such as a scorpion. The only weak point a dragon has with weapons like that is the open eye or perhaps a lucky shot into an open mouth - maybe.

The downfall of the series named "Game of Thrones" was indeed the easy dragon kills. It was ludicrous.
Another downfall of the HBO written series that went on to end a series not even written, is the FACT that magic was coming back into the world of men, not the other way round.
Also ludicrous, is the FACT that House Stark did not believe in one family rule; yet at the end of the HBO decision, they left House Stark in charge of everything.
A brilliant start was "Game of Thrones" corrupted by the greed of HBO clamouring for viewership dollars and nothing more; to an American public that never read the books or understood anything about the Kingdom.
Disgusting.
Fun thing about this site is that it's a repository of posts from everywhere else on the internet, such as the scads & oodles of photos and videos from other sites. It's nice this site allows members to share things they enjoy that originate from elsewhere. Except for the games & bug reports & requests, almost every post we enjoy here originates from other sites & has been shared by members who like to have fun in their off-time. Our family likes to do that too, sharing from scans of our books or other sites.
Wiki's are certainly nice, especially the ones that George uses that are ran by people he knows. Much of the art they use are from media released & commissioned by Martin himself for his published works. In works that he grants license to, he is often consulted & describes what he wants characters & places to look like, even though he changes his mind here & there. His own site is surely the best place for anything related to his own material. We like that he allows fan sites to exist without legal action. He could do that, but he doesn't. Instead he chooses to have fun too, so he lets them exist & collaborates when he feels like it.

Even by the time of Aegon's Conquest, there were just 3 dragons used to tame a continent.
Those mere 3 dragons of Balerion, Meraxes & Vhagar are those the Targaryens use for their house.
The destruction of just one single dragon is immense. Imagine what hundreds can do.
They conquered half of the known world.
Before The Doom Of Valyria ever occurred, Valyrian's had already found a volcanic island on Westeros and they established an outpost there constructing it with long lost advanced ancient magickal building methods known only to the now lost Valyrian civilization.
They named the island and the outpost Dragonstone. After the Targaryens flee Valyria, they will claim Dragonstone as their own. It is there that their very few new dragons are hatched in the caves of the smokey volcano.

He was suppose to be king, but when he died, a council passed over Rhaenys & elected Viserys I as king rather than allow a female to rule since that is often cited as being unlawful & also against the cult of The Seven. When Aemon died, his nephew Prince Daemon became the new rider. For the coming civil war known as The Dance Of The Dragons, Caraxes was a considerable military asset in a war that involves female succession of the Targaryen throne.
Meleys, Caraxes, and the older dragon Vhagar that had first belonged to Queen Rhaenys- all 3 of these dragons belonged to Targaryen siblings- Aemon, and King Viserys I parents Alyssa & Baelon. These 3 siblings enjoyed flying together, so the dragons knew each other well. Meleys 1st rider was King Viserys I mom, Alyssa.
Not long after her sons King Viserys & Prince Daemon were born, she promptly took them flying with Meleys. 3 years after Alyssa died, Meleys new rider was Princess Rhaenys, The Queen Who Never Was. Although Meleys had gotten fat & lazy, she was faster than both Caraxes & Vhagar. None of these 3 dragons were particularly cranky since they were all use to being around people & often liked to sleep near their riders rather than someplace else- but they could be intimidating when necessary.
Young Syrax belonged only to Queen Rhaenyra. Like many dragons, Syrax was named after a Valyrian diety. The little princess began riding the dragon when she was just seven years old.
It is said that all of The Queen's sons dragons came from the eggs of Syrax. There's a legend this dragon also killed a knight that tried to sneak up on it to kill it.
Dreamfyre is another mature dragon. She first belonged to the very first grandbaby of Aegon The Conqueror, Princess Rhaena. Dreamfyre & Rhaena got around quite a bit, especially looking for her missing daughter who fled to Old Valyria on The Black Dread Balerion.
It is known that Rhaena's friend Elissa Farman stole 3 eggs from Dreamfyre & escaped to the former Valyrian city of Pentos in Essos. These eggs became Drogon, Viserion, and Rhaegal- the 3 dragons of Queen Daenerys Stormborn Targaryen, The Mother Of Dragons, Breaker Of Chains. These dragons, especially Drogon, look much like Dreamfyre.
After Rhaena died at Harrenhal, Dreamfyre flew to King's Landing to live there until she was claimed by Helaena Targaryen, the sister-wife of Aegon II. She began riding her at age 11.

Sunfyre belonged to the treasonous little brother of Queen Rhaenyra, Aegon II, who liked the dragon so much that he abandoned the traditional red & black Targaryen colors for gold & black instead. Sunfyre was hatched at the Dragonmont volcano about 9 years before King Viserys I died & had grown quite big for a young dragon by the time war broke out.

Blocking is a feature implemented by The Doc to be used by anyone for any reason.
Since our kids suggested this thread be made, with the exception of an honest question that Nasos had, the few additional posts that have been made have all been designed to personally harass. In so doing, that's 30 family members including kids as young as 4 that have been harassed.
Our family has about 30 people in it, including many children. We all look at this site & enjoy it. If anyone posts anything that anyone in our family objects to, we block that and move on. We're here to watch movies & share things that we enjoy.
We do not owe anyone any explanation as to why they were blocked other than a family of about 30 people found offense & the block option was used to eliminate further offense. That's the offenders problem, not ours.

If you dig The House Of Dragon, Game Of Thrones, GRR Martin Books, then here's some illustrations from books. It's just a fan-geek thing that my family thought would be nice to post, so here goes.
