Friends, Blockers and Administrators, lend me your ears …[PART 1 - PROBLEM] (1359 views, 26 replies)

I come to call your attention to a problem I am experiencing with the current set up of BLOCKING, not only on this site but also on TwoMovies.

Thomasina and Mandale both touched on the topic in the thread from the moderator’s “Proactive Solutions” thread … anysubj.com/p/Proactive-solution... but there are many pies, and not enough fingers to control us roustabouts.

I am referring to the BLOCK TOOL (here we go again!!!).
No, not stopping the block this time. God forbid as sanity must be maintained at all costs.

But perhaps TWEAKING it?

HERE is my problem. At the moment I don’t block anyone and I have two blockers on ANYSUBJ.COM. As far as I know I have 3 or 4 on 2M. Fair enough, I hear you say. So what’s the problem?

Well the problem is the following,

1. I like to follow what the members have to say much more that the material that is posted from news media, because unless it is very specialised, I can usually find it on the regular media sites, in one form or another. So I am interested in the member’s reaction to a story, or maybe they can contribute some extra knowledge on the subject or even disagree with it altogether.

And this is where the “Latest Comments” box comes in very handy, as I can see the topic and also the latest commenter. As with everyone, there are some that I wouldn’t bother with as it is a bit of backslapping or bantering (which may or may not be of interest). There are others that I have a lot of time for, and when they speak I usually listen.

BUT I CAN’T.

And this is why.

I go to the HOME page of anysubj.com and I see the “latest comments” and I roll the pointer over the topic list to see who w
as the last to comment, and I see that (for example) Ravenousbird has made a comment on the thread “10 ways to fart in public without being caught” and I think … she’ll have an insight into this problem that pops up (and out) with certain frequency.

So I click on the link and I am met with ….



Further investigation tells me that the OP of the thread is one of my two blockers and thus I am unable to enter the thread and interact with RB.

HERE on 2M blocking means you can’t read the blocker’s/blockee’s comments (except by logging out), and you cann’t reply, upvote, downvote etc. BUT YOU DO HAVE ACCESS TO THE THREAD AND YOU CAN PARTICIPATE WITH OTHER MEMBERS.

This is not possible on anysubj.com

The unfortunate thing is that my blockers happen to be in the TOP ten posters, even a gold medal holder in the ranks. And this is what I had to view from the LATEST COMMENTS ...



2. I have noticed my blockers seem to like talking about me to each other in the public forums and on the threads here. And not everything is so nice. And I cannot see what they are saying about me, cannot defend myself but the rest of the community, who are not blocked by these devoted members, can.



From reading the interaction between these two honourable members, you can see the problem.

3. But it doesn’t end there … you can see above MR replies to me (he blocked me, unblocked me, left this response to ME). I received the following system message ...



But when I click on it I see the now famous ...



Which meant he reblocked me, knowing full well what he was doing and what childish game he was playing.

4. Then I received the following messages … one from what MR claims to be “his wife’s account” and he is over generous with his explanation which causes suspicions – handy to have access to another account to upvote and downvote etc.



Why go to all this trouble – he has unblocked me before, why not again?

THEN, he discovers that he can communicate with his BLOCKEE using the … PM system



So you can block someone, they can’t see what you are writing about them in a public forum AND the BLOCKER can drop you a PM without skipping a beat. WTF?

Oh dear. Moderators spoke and we had peace in our
time and no further digs or comments were forthcoming apparently.

Now this. May I request a moderator kindly asks box not to continue these attacks that were just a clear excuse for part one, or stop being petty and trying to kick start this feud which I beloved died a death a few days ago?

Is this clear attempt at bullying and trying to start another argument going to be allowed to continue one sided?

I myself am constantly getting blocked by someone and. THIS IS THE PROBLEM WITH extreme. blockers. They continue to post a lot of subjects I am not even allowed to read.blockers cut up all the posts,all the subjects,and all the ,many things on the forum.THEREFORE I ASK DR. EVIL TO STOP LETTING BLOCKERS CUT UP ALL THE FORUM SUBJECTS AND MOVIE TRAILERS.

I don't want to post I only want to READ EVERYTHING THAT IS ALL.BUT BLOCKERS ARE MAKING THE FORUMS AND SUBJECTS NOT READABLE.HOW can we invite new people to the site(and I have referred several friends to here)when everyone gets so blocked you can't read all the subjects any more? it is cutting up all the forum and subjectts on this site.Please Dr. Evil,can you only let us. "I'd also suggest when UNblocking is evoked accts remain unblocked for 7-10 days. After a blocker unblocks the same person three times triggers the unstable-account to freeze; then Admin is notified until matters are sorted. Then this shyt would promptly stop." :smiley:
