The sentencing remarks are on:
www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/uplo... .

I think he got 6 months for stalking and another 5 years for being an unbearable narcissist.

Have a nice time, Alex, I'm sure you will be in demand on date night. smiley

@Buttless I am delighted with this verdict. At least they got this one right. I just hope he doesn't get out early.

@DontSpeak 5 years is a long time for such a crime, he will come out a changed person.
Even a month or two would be effective, there are some seriously bad guys inside who love pretty boys.

@Buttless 1. He's not pretty. 2. He stalked and harassed a lot of people. Speaking as someone who's been stalked, it's hell. He deserves this. Better would be if he had mandatory counselling, but then again, he may be clever enough to fool a counsellor.

@Buttless Buttless, you've been giving this too much thought. Try looking at Malaika for a moment to get your brain back to thinking straight smiley

"Alex Belfield was jailed for five years and 26 weeks at Nottingham Crown Court
He was found guilty of a relentless stalking campaign against broadcasters
TV's Jeremy Vine labelled him 'the Jimmy Savile of trolling' during a trial."

GOOD.

@DontSpeak I say good too. Sometimes I think I live under a rock. I've never heard of this man.

Appeal?
That will be amusing.
Alex Belfield represented himself in court, and looked a complete dork.
If he does an appeal and represents himself similarly... his sentence will be increased!

Interesting situation all round. This chap sums up the sentencing pretty well.
I understand that although he referred to gays as “Light on their feet “ and “ Twirlies” , the judge referred to him as part of the LGBTQ community. I’m guessing that he told the judge he was gay.
He’s managed to con over £300k from his followers by claiming to be a victim while sending over 1000 emails to someone he was stalking.

@DontSpeak I find myself pondering over the thousands of people that have sent him money to fund his case against the BBC when it was himself being prosecuted for stalking.
We all love a good conspiracy and I’m sure he will now become another George Floyd, persecuted and silenced by nefarious shadowy government figures.
The real lesson I think is that in the modern age, internet stalking is just as cruel and effective and deserves an appropriate punishment.
When I see people proudly telling the world that they have lost 500 kilos, my first thought is “ how, why and when did you put it on in the first place “
He knew exactly what he was doing and now is paying the price.

@shabbapaul He's a predator. Of course he knew.

There's someone claiming they lost 500 kilos?? Are they part elephant? smiley smiley
