@FemaleLotRfan83 i was just thinking that lately about the simpsons. 30 years, and with no major cast changes like on Law & Order, so they can't even compare.
@uunboundd No but I do like Supernatural even though I began watching after season 12 ended.
@FemaleLotRfan83 i only watched the first three or four seasons. perhaps we both could have some catching up to do.
@uunboundd I got caught up before season 13 aired and it took me 3 weeks.
The show is on site so you can watch the eps you haven't watched.

True, it just seems like a lot of loose ends to tie up.
- Adam is still in Hell
- Jesse the Antichrist is still missing
- Heaven's lights are dying
I wonder if they'll explain any of those or just leave them as is.

The first season was terrific. It's worth another look. It did DOOM the actors into being horribly typecast and they just didn't try as it paid so well.

@delamitri That is called glamhorror or glamvampires.
It largely began with The Hunger with Catherine Deneuve.
Underworld tried to have it all as the decadent vampires are glamvmpires (posers) versus Viktor (Bill Nighy) who is malevolent and powerful.
The Russian vampires in Nightwatch are dark and malevolent yet the production uses this glamhorror.

The early seasons did a very good job concerning the tragic nature of the deaths by paranormal means. They also established the personal family mythology. It seemed actually scary in some episodes.
Lauren Cohen did a fine job over her early arc.

In subsequent seasons it got very diluted.
The music chosen for episodes must have made it terribly expensive. Producers genuinely complain when showrunners do this. It's considered excessive when they have paid staff to create music.
Anyone who liked this show, might binge watch Apparitions which a BBC horror show concerning demonic possession. It was well done.

@FemaleLotRfan83 I really like the Bobby Singer character played by Jim Beaver.
He then showed up on Breaking Bad and now Better Call Saul.
Then the complex chemistry of Jo and Ellen Harvelle. They were played by Alona Tal (sweet and innocent)and very sexy Samantha Ferris.
Two hunters afraid of Ellen's ire and the sexual chemistry between Jo and Dean. That REO Speedwagon scene is funny.

I’m sad for the friends I know who have been working on the crew, etc. here for all these years. I think I would be sad if I followed a show for that long, and then it was gone, but shows I watch seem to get cancelled or recast long before 15 years. I’m sad for the people who will be sad. Maybe I’ll binge watch it though, since my attention to it won’t put it in jeopardy of being cancelled now!

You can understand why actors keep a show going from an economic standpoint, but that is artistic death to go longer than seven years.
You gotta pay the electric bill though.
I felt they could both do more while on "hiatus". That is what most actors do and will find short term independent films as they have very short time commitments. That then inspires better performances in their own shows.
Ackles had other projects and did some fine early work.
Being an actor on a tv series is EXTREMELY long frustrating demanding days. A single scene can take hours when it's a fight scene that is meticulous due to continuity errors. Some are entirely spent by hiatus time and want to eat a real meal like a normal human being instead of always starving. Then just loaf.
Actors don't get the respect they once did.
Not many people can immerse themselves in a character and then let them age and mature and stay fresh.
That kind of element made Gandolfinni go bonkers and why he would refuse to shoot and be late on the Sopranos. That can make your fellow actors lose patience.

Yes I have watch Supernatural from the start but it was not axed or anything in fact The CW said as long as the actors were happy with it he was OK for it to run until they decided, in the end it was a joint decision you can see the cast, crew talking about this at comic con which you will find on youtube. I do hope to see Crowley again though in this last season and maybe we will see John again [SPOILER] I have enjoyed this series and it was meant to end at season 5 but the studio wanted more Kripke had planned it for 5, to go another 10 is great. Here are my thoughts:
I know J2 has said in previous years that they only see the show ending if Sam and Dean die but I hope that's not how they end Season 15. I'd prefer an open ending where we can imagine them still saving people and hunting things.
