Double letter game (3135 views, 517 replies)
@---BOX--- LOL I have a fascination with unusual words.
I never get an opportunity to use them, but I still love them.
Thanks. :)
@delamitri LOL I had to double check I posted in the correct game... then the penny dropped.
Duh. haha

Ollamh (so appropriate )
Sapphism - The word Sapphism originates from the lesbian poet Sappho who lived on the island of Lesbos (Greece). I suppose the marketing people thought the island name would sell better?
Oometer -
I always thought it was the way of measuring the element of surprise "OOOOOH" BUT it's not
@delamitri LOL you are so funny.
It's good to be a big kid and remain playful...it's my main goal in life. :)
@delamitri Too many word games for you, I'm afraid.
A strict diet of one per hour with a slice of chocolate cake in between is the recommended counsil for low level infections like this one.
@---BOX--- I overdosed and got drunk on words. 😳 I'm so addicted!!! Okay, I will try this moderation you speak of.
@---BOX--- That would make sense, wouldn't it?
I generally just use polyglot, and it seems to cover them all. :)
@delamitri Saw this on FB today
"It's finally November,
Michael Buble and Mariah Carey
are defrosting as we speak."
@delamitri I am sure they will be well defrosted by the time December first rolls around.
@delamitri Sniffle, sniffle -
are you suggesting I am a fogie caus eI can remember the 80's?
From 2003 I think though I am not a fan of either
@---BOX--- Hahaha, not at all. I just didn't want you thinking I was dim, because I wasn't sure I got the joke with those 2, as I'm not very familiar with them.
@---BOX--- Oh my, they are pop artists. Yeah, I was around in the 80s and 90s, but for sure I never listened to those types. 😁
@delamitri I understand now - I thought it would be nigh on impossible not to hear them but knowing you selective taste in music - all is forgiven.
You got out of that one rather well.
@delamitri Bahahahahaha!
That's so funny!
I hope Mr. Box appreciates us. This stuff is pure gold, I tell ya!
@delamitri You are too young to remember the originals or you have forgotten so you are onthe other side of being too young.
@---BOX--- I'll need the year before I can figure this out. Although sometimes while trying to figure things, I tend to be on the other side of being too young.
@delamitri They got to my part of Ireland in and around 1973 so I would assume they were available in US by at least 1968 - 1969. Too young I would say
@---BOX--- Oh yes, definitely too young then. I wouldn't see a bicycle for quite some time after that.
@delamitri As you may know that word takes on a whole other meaning when it crosses the Atlantic. Even more so if they are "fluffy".
Of course you know - that is why you put it.
@---BOX--- Yea, my boyfriend and I always get a kick outta when American's come over here and are shouting something or other about their "Fannie packs! :O :O :O
It's gross! Don't put ANYTHING there! lol
Tattoos - have yet to find the moments of bravery and necessity to have one done AKA total wimpy wimp.
@---BOX--- No need to be hasty on a forever decision like that, but it's not that bad as far as pain goes.
@---BOX--- Yes, definitely worse on skin close to bones. Front shin is probably the most painful.
@delamitri I have a small/no resistance to pain and firearms. So I'll forget the bone one. Wifey might not be too enthusiastic either. You must have at least one?
@---BOX--- Six. Definitely listen to wife's opinion whether to get one or not, because she's the one who will see it the most, even more than you.
@delamitri Words of Wisdom - "Listen to the wife". Should have been the first commandment from Moses. No doubt about it.
@---BOX--- I would say the D is silent, because it's pronounced gee-lah-buh with the accent on lah. But, as is with the word djinn, if you really say it right, you start your tongue in the D position before you say gee. Make sense? 😄
Lessee - I think RB had a rule recently about this but that hard disk was wiped many times since then
@---BOX--- Now I would watch that series - A Distillery of Witches and a Bodega of Vampires
@delamitri Sunday mass in Ireland was a great opportunity to sneek peeks at the opposite sex without being noticed, especially going up and coming back from communion. A bit like the country girls catwalk for puddy cats.
@---BOX--- Hahaha and here the grownups were so proud at how devoted to the church all you boys were.
@delamitri Maybe not your style? More sporty/leisure wear? Well for a special event like a trip to anIndian restaurant?
@---BOX--- I think I've had those if they're fluffy (for lack of a better word) inside. They were very good. Maybe airy is a better word? Hmmm
@delamitri Well they are made with and without filling - typical filling could be a light custard cream or jam (your jelly) or a mixture of butter and honey. All of which is basically done to turn you into a great big Mamma Mia from the old country. And don't be thinking it, because one is never enough. And did I mention the sprinkling of sugar to attack those pristine teeth. We are talking some serious carbs but irristible, if you are sitting in a piazza or palazzo with your espresso on a Sunday afternoon. "che bene"
@---BOX--- Light custard cream would be my choice. If I were going to ear 1, I'd eat 10. 🐖 And brush after.
@delamitri The pig would be me if I ate 10 and brushing my teeth after because of all the sugar.
@---BOX--- 19 hours have passed and someone will have to take the baton or leave it hanging until infinity and beyond.
Any takers?
