Right from the start you know this is going to be good. Box office smash in `54, and still holds its beauty as a thriller 62 years later. The stars alone should sell you on this. Catch a very young Fess Parker of, Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone fame from the 60`s, and you know who from, Gunsmoke. Fine acting. For that period of time, with all the competition from the other sci-fi`s, of the 50`s, this stood alone for special effects. 5/5. smiley smiley smiley smiley smiley smiley

@PAUL58 On a sad note. Edmund Gwenn who starred as the `Professor` in this, Academy Award winner and two time Golden Globe winner, was cremated in 1959. Problem is no one to this day has ever bothered to claim his ashes. smiley smiley smiley smiley

@PAUL58 Gwenn died from pneumonia after suffering a stroke, in Woodland Hills, California, twenty days before his 82nd birthday. He was cremated and his ashes stored in the vault at the Chapel of the Pines Crematory in Los Angeles.

@1FRAC1 There is a series on `Youtube` called `Hollywood Graveyards`. The guy, Art Dark, real name, goes around visiting many famous graves of `Hollywood`. This may interest you. As I found out the sad story of Edmund Gwenn. HAVE A HAPPY!! smiley smiley smiley smiley

@PAUL58 Excellent! Fine acting all around! A real treat to see all the '60s stars before they appeared in the roles that made them famous. Fess Parker was a hoot! James Arness with blonde hair!
Only color footage was the blood red title splash but still captivates. Why they never colorized this one?

Report comment

@Paladin* You can`t!!! If they did it would take away the character it was meant to be like. Also, I`ve seen others colorized. They Fucked it up. Would you like to see, "The Day The Earth Stood Still 1951", colorized?

Report comment

@PAUL58 "The Day The Earth Stood Still 1951" one of my all time favorites right next to "Forbidden Planet" which was in color. As long as they keep a digital copy of of the original, yes I would like to see a digitally colorized version of both B&W originals.
