I like this OK, but I'n not crazy about it, like some people are. It's not in the same class as House was, but that's ok...not many things are. This just seems kind of dumbed down to me... and no, that was NOT a shot at the Character, Shaun Murphy. It was a shot at the writers, and maybe some of the people that watch it that are less than knowledgable. It's an interesting premise. A doctor with no emotions. But most doctors that i've met in my life are that way, without the curse of a disease. That actually seems to be the main complaint about doctors. Their bedside manner. I'l take a cold impersonal Genius..anyday! 7/10
Decent start, will be interesting on where it goes. There appears to be quite a few irritants from the start.
I've just started watching this and I do quite like it, Freddie is a great emotional actor, I like the autistic take on the storyline, only thing that puts me off is his voice, it reminds me of the character 'Mathesar' from the film 'Galaxy Quest' (A brilliant film to watch if you haven't seen it) other than that, 4/5, grt show.
Wow ! What a great episode for a great show.
I should be embarrassed how much I like this show as it's so sickly sweet, loving, caring and all that crap, but I do enjoy it very much.
Now I must go watching something with explosions, gun fights and car chases.
This is basically just the new House. Same person created it, and there's really not much difference between the two shows. It's not necessarily bad, just not exactly original. Relies a little too much on sentimental wishy washy stuff. I like some of the actors. The idea isn't bad, it's just executed poorly & isn't anything new. I had higher expectations for it.
I think with better writing, it could have been pretty good, but it suffers from some of the same problems that House did. Don't get me wrong, I love Dr House as a character, & I'm a huge Hugh Laurie fan, but the show suffered from poor writing & used a tired formula for every episode. The extra wishy washy stuff outside of the cases was just unfortunate as well. It was a little too disingenuous.
Just my opinion, and I know it's not a popular one.
TL;DR: If you like House, you will probably enjoy this, too.
A lot of these people making comments should have been around in the Doctor/Medical era of Tv when there was some kind of Hospital/medical shows on every network at the same time all thru Prime time. Same thing with the Cop/Detective show era. But the most annoying is the Prime Time competition shows.
I looked into this only because I saw "Freddie Highmore" on this from "Bates Motel". As someone already said below, not crazy about the show, but its okey. Still watching when new episodes come out.
Not a bad watch. It's interesting enough to binge watch.. I've seen worse for sure. Not all series are winners but most are stinkers imo. So..taking that into consideration, it's a C+.
I have loved this show since it started. It reminded me of a Canadian tv show, I think more than 10 years ago, where a scientist in a government lab had Aspbergers. I would love it if someone could find it for me. I just did a search and came up with nothing.
It has a great ensemble cast and Freddie Highmore plays the part flawlessly. Sometimes there seems to be lapses in good dialogue and I think they aren't using Lea (Paige Spara) as well as they could and they dress her matronly...they will not win awards for clothing.
They are not putting an investment in developing the character of Dr. Jordan Allen (Bria Henderson) though they have tried to invest in Dr. Asher Wolke (Noah Galvin).
There is a grave mistake the show, for me, made early on. After hiatus from Covid restrictions, they pretended almost like it didn't exist. No masks for visitors, none in street scenes. I know of no shows that did that and no matter your opinion on masks, at the time, it was still a very big and mandated thing. Especially in HOSPITALS.
