If your a Trekkie or someone who loved Star Trek: Next Generation specifically especially the movies but didn't like Nemesis then you'll love this series and curious what they come up with in Season2. however and curious people's comments that is those who have already seen the show if they care to comment . [SPOILER].. I say sit back and relax and enjoy this and you'll love the characters from other Star Trek series and the cameo/special appearances that come into this one.

Pretty impressive! There is a lot of the old school vibe from the older series in this and there is a lot of new bits in this series too. [SPOILER]

A couple parts were cheap/corny and felt like they did them for obligatory reasons but most of this was a lot more epic than the older series. Some of the episodes felt like watching movies rather than episodes. The drama is a bit more intense too with more dialogue and a lot of people don't seem to like that. I don't blame them but if you think back through all the series of Star Trek all the way back to the original series in the 60's, there has always been drama like this, it just didn't feel this intense. Give modern theatrics credit for that. Just my opinion and if you can look past that you can see that this is really well done and falls in line with the WHOLE series of Star Trek in its entirety. I skipped a few later series for good reason but this one I am glad I took a chance on and watched patiently.

I love Star Trek and I am not someone that needs the franchise to never change. So, I have enjoyed the first season of Picard. I grew up with the The Original Series and I remember how controversial The Next Generation was. Who was this bald old man of a captain who was so grumpy? What was with the beige 80s hotel lobby of a bridge? What's with the Spock rip-off android with no emotions? I didn't care, I still loved -- even when it really was bad. And then, TNG went on to be some of the most amazing television I ever saw.

Picard is a different kind of show -- not just because time moves on -- but because you can't tell the same stories over and over. Picard is more about the journey than it is about the destination. I found it like 'The Mandalorian' in that regard. It's a show about little moments, deep relationships, emotional pain, nostalgia and regrets.

Where Picard let me down was simply in the things I wanted more of. I wanted more of Laris, the Romulan caregiver played by Orla Brady. I wanted more of [SPOILER] ...

Production and acting were decent. Writing was generally terrible.
This is fine for some mindless entertainment, but pales in comparison to most standard Star Trek series.

I can't say how much I enjoyed this new Star Trek series. The affects, the music, the plotline and the cast did an amazing job. The back stories and character development for the new crew was intertwined with the main story very well and wasn't overly drawn out, but gave you a sense of knowing the people and progression. Superbly done!!

Legolas is completely out of place in this one.

Damn it's good!
I was so scared this would be just some money grubbing pandering show like Discovery but it's awesome. Every episode just flies by leaving me on the edge of my seat.
The overall arc is intriguing and well designed, never making you feel like they're just buying time to the next cliffhanger, and the characters are interesting and leave a lot of room for development while coming fully formed with a backstory and issues and all the character traits of full fledged protagonists.
Best of all, they manage to make Picard feel like Picard but they gave him 20 years of backstory you're just happy to delve into, which made him a different man. The same Picard but different. Great writing.

Damn amazing! The producers did an outstanding job not allowing of the Social Justice BS into this show like in Star Trek Discovery which is far worse than anyone could have imagined.

Patrick Stewart with the same vigor and command, as if he'd never stopped the role. The other actors were like they belonged there. Extremely fluid throughout thus far. No hard forced dialog scenes that make you shake your head and no unnecessary drama like in the WB shows that just make it more like a soap opera.

@Elkfarmer The problem with Discovery is not that they are not white men. The problem with Discovery is that the writing sucks, the stories are boring and the characters are one dimensional clichés.

@toasterfraker Who said anything about what race someone is. Wtf does that even matter. Why would you say something like that?

It was so nostalgic a scene when the old Captain Picard said, "Engage".
Vikings died and dozens of other examples can be given wherein removal of original cast destroyed the series. Lets hope we can relive the memory with Mr. Picard.

Wow!! Totally blew me away. This series sweeps the alternative timeline/universe spinoffs away and picks up the Generations story following Nemesis. With all the colossal (IMHO) failures of reinventing Star Wars. Star Trek, the abysmal/pathetic ending of GoT this is a breath of fresh air. Episode one is well written, acted and filmed. The special effects are excellent and compliment rather than replace the story.

Watch this episode and experience the hope of finding a series worth watching!

I am very excited about this show. I'm a Trekkie and have watched every episode that has been made regarding or related to Star Trek, starting with the original & including the movies. This will be a treat catching up to characters from across the Star Trek Universe. I love what I've seen so far and I am most definitely looking forward to more!

There have been many reviews of this show in the trades and online and sadly, most of it has not been positive. I would urge fans to put aside the reviews, watch it and see it for yourself. It's only the first episode and it's too early to say. Give it a chance and let's see where it goes.

@bigsteve Unfortunately a lot of reviews are given by the social justice types and companies are all about jumping on the ban wagon. There was a movie on Rotten Tomato that got 0 or close to it and it wasnt opened to public review until a long time later and it received nearly 100 rating.

@Elkfarmer If you mean the band wagon, I'm not really sure what you're on about because the show is getting excellent reviews both on Metacritic and Rotten Tomatoes so here's some unfortunate news for you: it seems the Social Justice Types and you agree on something. This is a damn good show.

@toasterfraker those are public review systems. Votes by the public. Look at critics reviews. They were not good at all when I looked at some. I know this is a good show as stated in another thread. You're a complete idiot for even assuming such things. Troll someone else

@Elkfarmer It's always best to check it out and decide but I must admit, after three episodes, I think we've reached 'peak Star Trek'. Too Bad Tarantino is not doing a Star Trek film. I think he would have brought a much needed fresh perspective.

@bigsteve You KNOW the show would be packed with war lol. And he doesn't bow down to BS from China either. HE won't change crap when asked like 90% of all producer/directors do. Like the Marvel movie series.

@Elkfarmer Tarantino would re-create a Trek blockbuster! Everyone would want to see it... maybe with the new management it will happen I tuned out of Picard after the 3rd episode. 'Painful' best describes the experience

Being a fan of all the series besides Enterprise, I had high hopes for this series. I can tell by the first episode I won't be let down. It drew me right in. Can't wait for the next episode!!!

I liked it a lot so far. I'm optimistic for this series.
Patrick Stewart is 79, looks and moves very well.
I was wary of the sjw element so very prevalent Star Trek Discovery.
It existed in this Picard pilot, but it's subtle, not in your face.
I hope that doesn't change. Enjoy.

@Bread&Circuses I shared the same optimism but it's waning... Let's see - several centuries in the future, senior officers in the federation including aliens are dropping the F-Bomb! Lol and Picard hires aliens as servants and to work on his vineyard? (I hope he's paying them minimum wage!) We can all hope that Picard makes the Federation great again! We are now entering peak Star Trek... enjoy the ride!

@Bread&Circuses Same thing I hated about Discovery the sjw BS that I had thought may have destroyed the franchise. At least for me
