The Matrix Resurrections (2021). Disappointing, this sequel should not have been made.
The original Matrix movies from the 90's were new ground-breaking sci-fi and still look good today, Matrix 1 is a classic already.
But to take the name and a few bits of the story, use modern CGI effects and add some wokeness... it does not work. This is not worthy of the title.
Not recommended unless you've nothing else to watch, 4/10.

Alright, the Matrix series is good, but I have to wonder if this movie was made just to keep the series alive. The plot was almost like watching the first Matrix again but with a little flair. The cgi was like they just pulled clips from the other Matrix movies and slapped them in for effect.
Now, i'm not saying dont watch this, it was a good escape. Just don't expect some crazy new storyline. 3.5 stars from me.

Not as woke as I expected, that is not a saving grace though. The writing was so weak, it made me lol at least 5 times. It feels like the entire disney star wars trilogy crammed into one movie. Neo got done dirty. At least Keanu is a little less like pinocchio than usual.

Absolutely the worst movie I have ever seen when compared to what came before it. I watched all the originals for the first time in a row in order to watch this. And in doing so you can clearly see this movie should never have been made and is an embarrassment to the franchise.

Man, this was really as lame as I thought it would be.
You can´t just put young actors in old roles- or old grown farts in action movies.
And the resurrection story, when the machine told why they kept them around, was -bad.
And all the blue glasses...
Right after this I watched the first 1999 movie- Loved it. Again.
To me this is a resurrected turd, the Matrix seemed at peace in the conclusion- They should have left it with that. Do something else.
This is just a reboot maxi plus.

The Matrix Resurrections wants to play with your intelligence. Like, "Neo became what"?? "Neo is how old"? WTF...that doesn't look like Morpheus"!! And after seeing Jada Pickett past 60 years old makes you feel sorry for Will Smith....

I had to throw a review in to go against all the negativity. I felt this was well worth the wait.
The changes in actors even make sense with it being 60 years in the future. The younger version of Morpheus being a program that Neo wrote and not actually the real Morpheus. The movie even makes fun of itself with the line about Warner Bros forcing a sequel. The machines rebuilding Neo and Trinity to try and access the source code. The two of them being two halves of the code. Needing to be together to reach their potential. Neo being tricked into accepting the reality of the matrix again by the lie that it was all in his head, and matrix games and movies to solidify that idea and make it all seem like some delusional fantasy. The same old story of machines keeping people controlled by an illusion of reality that they couldn't escape from, and most wouldn't want to.
The action, acting and effects were great. It was a fun ride. This wasn't going to be a mind-blowing revelatory experience. The first one did that. This just continues the story and updates it a bit, with lots of action and some cool effects.
... FFS, just enjoy yourselves and stop overanalyzing everything.

This movie was really disappointing. The trilogy was really deep and intelligent, but this movie had a really shallow storyline and the script seemed rushed. For a 2.5 hour long movie it actually felt short, and for almost the entire movie they were just reminiscing about the past movies. I started getting annoyed with the movie towards the end and couldn't wait for it to be finished. I felt like it was a cash grab. I give this movie a 7 out of 10.

Wait for a good source. The current one ends before the movie's over. Maybe it's just a few minutes. Could be more, though.

I think i will wait till it comes out on Blu Ray so i can enjoy it.

It was worth the wait. I wonder what will they do for the next one. I wish the version I had the last 10 mins. It was good all the way around.

I was hoping for a 3rd level of reality, like in Lem's Congress. But here, after reminiscence of the old series, there is basically nothing. Trinity can fly and there are swarms with green eyes. And just the same ideas as in the first 3. Almost as bad as the last 3 star wars.

Maybe it’s because I associate Keanau with John Wick now and the Matrix series to a much younger Mr Reeves ?
It’s all a bit of a hotch potch with so many confusing realities, timelines and sub plots that I lost interest and passively watched everyone milk a once ground breaking franchise.
Like the wrong turn and Predator reboot, it felt very formulaic, contrived and unnecessary.
A young keanau fighting the system was great. One older than me just never got off the ground.
Sorry Keanau 4/10 stick with John Wick

Is it me or the Covid infected the movie productions that much? Why don't I rate better the movies this year? Anyway, I agree with people rating this less than 5. Even if I explain the reasons why it won't make any difference through all these bad rates. Makes me wonder sometimes the rating in IMDB and the many "K"s in statistics when it's big productions like this, I usually find myself very close to the rates, last 2 years not. I also agree that adding a lot of Botox on known performers won't bring back old thrives, it becomes annoying cliche. Give chance to new faces, new writers and set the known older faces performing something appropriate for their age. 4/10

I know we got some mix reviews it's was OK in bits the storyline was OK but can't beat the original matrix was well worth the watch if your a matrix fan so a six out ten for me just hope there another one

Wasn't expecting it to be this bad. I had my reservations when it was first announced they were gonna make this but boy did this movie just tank to the bottom fast!

Makes the first 2 sequels look like masterpieces!

Overall, the film was good, but they completely destroyed the plot. Probably one of those movies that they should've left at 3 and done. I believe this was essentially just a cash grab movie. Using the name Matrix to get the big box office profit. Everything about the movie was a step down from the original trilogy. Everyone is old... Neo can't even fly anymore lol

If I was drunk or high this movie would have been better. Just kidding. No it wouldn't have. A desperate attempt to make money while putting up a sorry excuse for a movie. Don't waste your time. Very disappointed in acting, directing and overall cast. Baldheaded smith is a joke. 2-10

I got halfway through this and that was all I could take very disappointed there's nothing new only reminiscing and old remembrances of the other ones

It was what I expected, plus a lot more. Bummer Fishburn wasn't in it himself. I heard he wasn't even asked. Hope that's not true.

I don't care what excuse they pulled out to not invite him to his iconic role and then replaced him. I don't care that this series is famous for doing that to other characters in the second two-part movie, already. What bothers me is that this doesn't feel like they resurrected anything, they just dug up the grave of a failed series, shot it in the head, then buried it again. It should have stayed in the grave if you can't give back the original movies' awesomeness. This is not a famous series. This was/is based on an epic movie, the first movie. The second two-part movie was what killed the story, and this just buried the story even deeper.

This is almost as nutty as Lana Wachowski's hair, maybe nuttier, maybe.

Rediculous plot tie in's to originial trilogy, alot of woke nonsense, is usefull if you need to watch something to put you to sleep

The older ones were revolutionary,still to this day we see references in our day to day lives even some lines became popular jargon, THIS horrible movie can’t even grab the feels from the old ones ,just sad and disappointing

fell asleep massively through this terrible copied and paste junk. the last of the trilogy was terrible and this was them trying to make up for it but it failed miserably. I'm never going to get those hours of my life back...

I thought it was a great movie. Where Lassie rescued Timmy from drowning and then raised enough money to pay off the farm. What? Wrong movie? Matrix 2021? Never mind 4-10 only because I like Keanu

This is neither a terrible movie or the movie it should have been. Its just meh, as in why even make it??? The premise could have been a thousand times better and the plot/ storyline a million more times exciting. As it is it plods and meanders and skims over things which need to be explained. Poor nods to the past and I really cannot stress enough that this is not going to be collected in all its 4K and all singing sound loveliness. Consigned to the heap of a web rip at 1080, as it truly doesn't deserve to take up space on my hard rive alongside the original trilogy. It would have been a lot better to explore some of the things mentioned in the movie and let the younger cast take over and lead the way. Maybe a new lot of movies involving the younger cast. All in all if you want to stay barely stay awake of an evening then watch this, but if you really want to stay wide awake rewatch the original trilogy. Such as shame...........

Very disappointed. Like the rest of the commenters, I feel that This director really drop the ball on what the original directors built I don’t care if it’s the sister old the original directors. But, then again in this type of society it’s not surprising to see it the way it is today. Meta Morpheus looks weak and non existent, Neo looks weak and powerless without trinity? Heck, even Nairobi is scared and bitter. They made the villains corny old and weaker as men.

These new characters are average and goofy looking. I can understand why some people think it has a political agenda to it as well. But I think it’s because of the directing and producers of this mess of a flick.

It’s kinda good to see some of the returning characters back but the way they made them in this movie is Ridiculous. Absolutely nothing amazes me with the standard cgi effects. Which is a shame because the previous matrix movies revolutionize the industry and set the standards it has today.

I understand bringing back some of the old scenes of the original was apart of the plot, but I think they played into it too much, which took away from the movie. ... They should of never made this movie, or had the original directors make before their time ended. What a horrible flick to an iconic movie series.

you make half a movie about action and .. you dont deliver (a bit like dune). id probably cut 40minutes and make it more philosophical .. take out 50% of the secondary cast also )

New time, new faces, new story line. Better than Matrix 2 and 3. Not as good as the original. As far as a 20-years-past continuation to a story goes, The Matrix Resurrections was better than anticipated, in my opinion. If you go into it with no expectation and you won't be disappointed. Lots of action, interesting plot, seems like some signalling to what is going on in the world today. Time to wake up people, choose red.

I feel generous today and gave it a 6. Honestly though, not the matrix I was looking for but maybe that's just me. I hope they try again.

I was expecting a sequel that matched the brilliance of the original. I was disappointed, to say the least. The fight scenes were more fillers than anything. The supplied very little in terms of knowledge and were more typically formulaic.

Character development lacked consistency. Acting wasn't nearly up to expectations. The story line itself left way too much to the imagination, and little to how everything ended up as it did, after the last movie.

Five stars for average. Sad. Maybe the next John Wick will his exoneration.

Hi all, Need to watch this again. Loads going on despite the neg reviews from the MS PAID FOR critics. Pick up lines: 'The Matrix Video Game is a metaphore for capitalism'. Yep thats about right for the first 3 movies. Yet althought the 3rd carries this theme. It imho has always been about the deep ocult knowledge of balance between female and male archetypes. To enable one's achieving transedance beyond the physical to the spiritual, for want of a better word! A deepish dive book about this is Johnathan Blacks 'The Secret History of the World'. The author in the first few pages recounts a conversation with a Mason, asking if he joins can he share the knowledge. The answer is NO. Interesting htat Hollywood can do so for those to see!

Oh, I thought it was good enough. Surprise there was another of these, but it you're going to have one, this was fine.
I enjoyed the Easter egg / flashback bits. I watched this with a gal that had only seen the first one. I told her that was good enough. She was confused by it.

Why? If I see this movie on products or a matrix cereal box I'm gonna dump right in the store.
