Nice I was really looking forward to this. They have the same "Orphan" actress as in the first. I have a feeling it's going to be really good and I'm not usually optimistic on prequels or sequels. I'm guessing more answerers will be given as to who and where came from and why she is so bent on destroying good people

I knew Julia Stiles would make this good and kind of funny. She likes to incorporate some Inner city slang in her movies from working with other Black actors.

Referring to the "girl" as a grown ass woman. Made me bust out laughing.

@MPA2000 My memory of it is a bit sketchy too, but i checked the trailer of both and she has the same name, [SPOILER] hence my message. I do need to watch both to see if they run or what? Cheers smiley

@icuwtch2 I would say to watch both. That way you would connect more to the leading actress.

@MPA2000 I watched Orphan again, it's a very good movie. I don't know why I didn't just realize, it's in the title.

This was such a pleasant surprise. It started alright, but it kept getting better and better and better and better... you get the point :), especially after the twist halfway thru. It got such a satire vibes which i love after that and also so many references to movies in a respectful and fun way. We had towards the end The Good Son scene, from a lifetime thrillers- kitchen fight, at the end- Psycho, close look stare at the camera and even a rat from Willard, dollhouse from Hereditary or Amityville... Kudos to everyone involved in the making and writing of this. I had so much fun watching with my the best friend. Its so rare these days a movie to hit me so hard in so many ways. I got too much pleasure out of this movie. haha

I really liked it. It wasn't at all what I expected but in a good way. There were many twists that I didn't see coming and most movies made today are very predictable. The actors all did a good job. I wonder if they will be another one made. I don't except there will be. It was great for a one time watch. 4/5

Hideous hideous overly desaturated visual.
Cant see anything on screen its so ugly and so cheap looking.

Story is a bit fun. Like a parody movie.

The Bad Seed is a better movie in the genre of creepy kids horror

You know a movie is fun when you find you're rooting for the villain :-D
This movie has a different tone than the original film, but it's crazy fun in its own way, too.

OK for a one time watch. It just looked cheap and grainy for some reason. Julia Stiles saved it for me. I liked her character, if not for her I would have turned it off. [SPOILER]

Extraordinary movie! The original movie "Orphan" was produced by Leo Di Caprio and released by Warner Bros in 2009. "Orphan: first kill" is a prequel released by Paramount this time, with an incredible Isabelle Fuhrmann and Julia Stiles in the leading roles (Fuhrmann was already in the first movie)
The first half already is bloody violent and well structured, but the second half is full of twists you wont be able to see. The fight between "mother" and "daughter" is one of a kind in those many evil children movies. When you watch Fuhrmann playing Leena you will profoundly think about having children.
That`s a promise.

If you liked "Malignent", this is for you.

Loved the original and was really looking forward to this, but it didn't take long for the disappointment to set in. The reason used for why Fuhrman looked so old for the age she is supposed to be in this prequel that was made over a decade before was ridiculous given that no mention of it was made in the original. She must have filmed every scene with another actor in it on her knees.

It went straight to streaming = red flag. Absolutely loved the first movie. This was disappointing.
First, the rumors of deep faking her baby face to make her look young is false. There was no CGI and her age is noticeable. They also said they would use camera angles to make her appear younger. Instead, they used a child double for side and back shots. All in all, nothing was as complicated as what it sounded to be. The movie looked cheap and I thought maybe it was just the beginning since it took place in 2007, but it ran the length of the movie.

Part one was brilliant. The atmosphere chilling and Esther flows back into her role. The killing was questionable but he's a simp so that can be overlooked. The twist in the middle was great for a minute..no explanation of what previously happened. Esther wasn't as manipulative as I had hoped. She was weak and I felt pity. Wasn't much of a horror movie, but a competition on who's more sick in the head.
