Storyline SUCKS, but the action was GOOD! I gave it a 7 just for the action alone.

This Godzilla was in no way a satisfactory reboot. Every monster fight was interrupted by silly human mellodrama. The connection Godzilla has to the specific humans in this film makes no sense. Godzilla would have a much stronger connection to the singing beauties [SPOILER] Godzilla movies in the original Toho series never focused so much on the people, let alone one random family. I wanted a monster mash. What I got was predictable, and almost entirely out of line with Toho mythology. I would, however, recommend that all Godzilla fans watch it. There's no way around not seeing it if you love Godzilla, but prepare yourself to be continually let down when none of the monster fights have any satisfactory full out battle engagement (like the originals did). This attempt at a reboot is questionable for me. The story is over saturated with predictable human mellodrama. ...

@ Hope your wrong! Been a fan since I saw the 1st with Raymond Burr back in 1963 in B/W. I think I`ve seen everyone. Some are now, to me pretty comedic!

@PAUL58 Dude, Raymond Burr was never in the original Honda movie. His scenes were shot and tacked on afterwards to give american viewers a non-asian face in order to not feel alienated too much by an all-japanese cast. I watched the US version a few years ago out of interest, way inferior to the director's intended cut.

@PAUL58 Exactly, that's how Toho intended it. This isn't anything close to the classics, so reboot isn't what I think of it.

Nevertheless, it's only my opinion. I hope you enjoy it.

I spent money on the cinema to see this, which I would not recommend.

i saw this in theaters....honestly really good then if you get some crappy cam version. they have remade/rebooted Godzilla many times since original japanese ones. i will say i like the current reboot best. it does begin at a part of the first movie in this current series but not really needed to see this 2nd movie. its a classic middle movie in that theres slow parts on the build up but the big fights are totally worth it. i really enjoyed this movie and dont listen to those so called critics. [SPOILER] never mess with papa zilla!

@Makichan84 Please, don't call him Zilla!😂 Zilla is the weird lizard that plays the lead in Roland Emmerich's 1998 car crash of a 'reboot'....

@coffeeninja eh i say zilla for another reason and could care less for any other references to it. i like it as a cute little nick name. lol honestly zilla is and has been used for many things so i dont see a problem. so ill call him papa zilla in his own right XD

Great movie for a Godzilla flick. The CGI work was great, the character development wasn't terrible, and the acting was good enough to hold it all together. As others have said, a lot of action, a few twists, plenty of buildup, and personally I loved the hollow Earth theory reference. The casting was pretty solid too, it had someone from Game of Thrones as well as Stranger Things in it.

I saw this in the theater. Very loud... the monster screams were too loud to even make them out... sounded like distortion. I hope the Blue-ray is better. The final battle and its special effects were a disappointment. Somewhat interesting, but overall a disappointment compared to what I could imagine with my little mind. smiley

I like this movie. Finally more about the "monsters" than the people. Well almost, I would have like to seen more of the monsters to me if they would have added more of them it would have made a better story line. Hopefully next time around they will.

If they would have killed off the mom and the daughter this would have been awesome, so now I have to give the movie a really fun watch rating.

I was hoping they'd have some kinda Royal Rumble with all the monsters fighting each other, Plus I kept waiting for Godzilla to say some badass line like Yippy Kai Yay MFs, 😆😅
but either way it was a fun Movie well worth a watch or two. 🍿😎🍿
