Well color me blown away. I have been putting off watching this movie thinking it was going to be the typical big budget hollywood movie remake turd (like Dukes of Hazzard and A Team .. to name a few) but boy was i surprisenly shocked! I can not believe how well written it was, so complex, and just when you think you know who and why, the plot twists and goes a different way! The movie writters need to get more jobs writting more movies! The cast did a great job getting into character and the effects and pretty flawless! This was a good one time watch for me that definately kept my attention!
Ok... I actually really liked this movie more than I thought. I enjoyed the actors and it had a great mix of horror and comedy. Just a one time watch for me though.
It was ok. One time watch for sure. I definitely got a giggle at the very last scene.
This was a splendid movie!
Definitely worth a watch
Worth a watch, but pretty predictable, and apart from the nice effects, not much substance. The ending was a bit of a let down, but if you're bored, worth watching once.
This movie was OK. 4/10 in my opinion. Interesting new take on the old classic TV show. Mr. Roarke was NOT well cast here. No charisma, no screen presence, just flat and boring. For those who care for such things, this should not be a PG13 movie, but R. There is vulgar language, adult themes, and some nudity.
Great movie , it was expecting a creepy story with a creepy ending but i think i was wrong , it turns out quite good . I love it ...
I was pleasantly surprised by this quasi-origin story. I really liked the twists and turns - probably not dark enough to be actual horror but certainly good drama. At the bare minimum it provides a nice retelling of an old favorite TV show. But I'm certainly not expecting a TV series (or at least I hope not).
Try to make this short. For the first hour this movie had, but everything it could have been it wasn't and the last half took a left turn that kinda made me roll my eyes and lose interest. It wasn't bad, but I didn't finish, think there was like 20 minutes left, but yea, try it, 6/10.
Welcome to Fantasy Island! The twist and turns Fantasy Island brings will keep you on the edge of your sit! If you have seen the classic show get ready to enjoy some amazing nostalgia that will not let you down. For viewers new to Fantasy Island get ready for a very enjoyable entertaining movie. Remember when you make a wish you don’t always get exactly what you asked for, or do you? This movie will keep you entertained till the end!
6.5 A very busy movie. Imagination supreme. I did enjoy it but found it a wee bit hard to keep up with what was going on all the time. The ending is a must as it all comes together. A great deal of the unexpected and on the whole a very clever movie with camera settings perfect and the special effects very good. Worth a watch for sure.
There are some movies I pre-consider many times when I am searching desperately to find something good to watch. This was one of them, I checked its description page many times but was always discouraged when I saw the low rating. This time I watched it and I am happy I did. I think it is a bit underrated. I like the concept, the idea and if it were me I would really elaborate the characters further so that the mechanics of it would be comprehended clearly. Anyway, it was a fun watch for me.
I thought the movie was done very well. The story lines kept you entertained loved the twist they throw at ya. I believe it would be better as a series. I look forward to see if they do more with it.
Acting was so fake! The plot itself was missing details and was boring over all.
I never watched the tv show so I cant speak to it in that point of view. My knowledge is limited to "Da Plane! Da Plane!"
Going into this I heard it got mostly bad reviews while in theaters so I wasnt expecting much. Which is why I probably enjoyed it so much. I liked how the story was weaved and revealed. I enjoyed the very end too.
My biggest complaint was [SPOILER]the double twist where its revealed the fantasy was the girl's. I much preferred it when it was possibly the mother of the dead guy.
Wow! This film was good, is like full of fantasies with in a fantasy which is in a main fantasy culminating with another new fantasy, and I'm not complaining since the film was fun to watch, at least for a one-time watch of course, but this film was entertaining by the way how all the storyline evolved all the way to the end and it was funny that now there's an Asian Tattoo, well I recommend this film since it kept my attention all the way to the end and acting was good too.
loved it loved the actors great movie
The start of the movie promised a great deal of mystery. But to my dismay the movie turn out to be a remake of many other such movies.Too many complexities. The island itself seems to have some pretty nifty magical powers. But again not much there. I was dissapointed.
The original television series was from 1977 - 1984 so I knew it wouldn't be exactly the same since this is a newer generation of viewers but I was hoping that it would, at least, follow the same premise. I give the cast a pass but I would not have chosen most of the actors. I was disappointed after watching this not because it was a new twist on an old show but because it was more like the series 'Lost' than the series Fantasy Island. I thought that this movie lacked enough cgi/fx to impress, and also, that the storyline/plot felt like it was written by writers who ran out of steam half way through the movie. That ending was dismal. Is it watchable ... yes, but for those of us who were fond of the original series this is a bitter disappointment.
A horror adaptation of the popular '70s TV show about a magical island resort.
I enjoyed the hell out of this movie. It was very well made, has a great cast, awesome CGI and a spectacular set. The scenery was stunning and the built set looked just as good and quite realistic. It was obvious that they paid close attention to detail when creating it. This edgier version of the story was much better, nice twist on the ending btw. Didn't guess that one. I've always liked Michael Pena. I thought he did great as Roarke, but my favorite actor/character was Lucy Hale. The whole cast did amazingly though. I definitely recommend this one. It's a keeper for sure.
@◦•●◉✿♡Momof3αηgєℓѕ♡✿◉●•◦ you have good eye for movies and I have not been disappointed by your picks.. Cheers well done.
This was good for what it was, an action, adventure, fantasy....NOT horror. I loved the tv series as a child and watched it every single week. So naturally I was excited when I heard they were making a movie from it. I was under impression though it was going to be a horror movie. Had I not thought that I probably would have enjoyed it more. It's a decent watch but it isn't one I would probably watch again. I did like the ending with the whole[SPOILER]tattoo ending
I hate the guy they picked for Mr. Rorke. Hollywood imorality fester this movie, got only 15 mins in.....sigh....
well i loved it , i wanted more gore and more horror but this movie turned out to be a thriller genre. anyways it good for a one time watch .
" sh*t she went out with him one time !!! " 😂😂
looked interesting enough, not too good though, several different stories that don't suck you in very much. dragged on, it could have benefited to cut at least 15 minutes. I wouldn't recommend it 4/10
decent, worth (A) watch.
Fantasy Island, what can I say....I watched it purely feeling nostalgic.
Having grown up with the original series playing in the background as my mum watched it while I played with dinky cars on the carpet.
Anyway back to the film... As others have said, it's not a horror. Lots of twists and turns some work some don't. But overall a watchable film as long as you don't expect to much from it.
I watched it this afternoon with a storm blowing outside rain hammering down, and it filled the afternoon quite nicely. In truth I don't expect any lasting memories from this version. But the last scene did make me smile as it gives reference to the original in a funny way...
Watchable but nothing fantastic would be my summary.
Yeah, it was a good and above average film. Not sure why we've put it under Horror and/or Comedy, because it's not really either of those... More like Drama/Thriller. I think they could have used all the elements... an island, a plane... I mean, the broke the remoteness of the original by bringing in the torture victim on a boat. And there is no feel-good atmosphere like you got on the original and The Love Boat... this is chalk full of European cynicism.
Good film, just wish I had no predispositions having grown up with the original. At least throw in a midget and a pony! Wait, that's from Drawn Together. lol
WoW,This more modern version was Fantastic!I remember watching fantasy island with my grandparents when i was young. It took you away to a magical place. This version is a little more twisted. They still kept some of the original"Phrases".You will have to watch to see!
Welcome to Fantasy Island! The main house and Roarke's office transported me back years. This is a scary, more serious version. This time with better acting! I loved it. So many twists and turns, I have to watch it again just to catch every last one.
There was nostalgia, action and some truly emotional moments. Now I even have a possible background for one of TVs most legendary shows.
I easily recognized Maggie Q.(Insurgent, Divergent), Michael Pena (End of Watch, Crash),Jimmy O.Yang (Silicon Valley), Kim Coates (Sons of Anarchy).
Halfway through I was imagining all of the follow up movies. This had a great mix for an entertaining watch and a repeatable watch. Only in a few places did it drag, but pulls together so well. 8.5/10
WOW!This is not only the by far worst movie so far this year, it is certainly amongst the top worst three since 2000! I only made it through it because i parallely did some housework.
The original series already was really really bad, but this is...unbelieveable.
A super weird combination of strange phantasies and flat-as -a- mirror characters culminating in the worst "twist" in movie history.
Lets say you have the choice between watching this and eating a müsli made from grandma`s toenails...chew!
0 points. it shows 1 point above, just because the system wont take a zero
