The Continental Mark II made its world debut in October 1955. First unveiled at the 1955 Paris Auto Show, the Mark II debuted in the United States at Ford Motor Company headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan.

A styling masterpiece, Ford Motor's largely hand-built 1956-57 Continental Mark II is one of the most outstanding cars ever built in America.The limited-production Mark II two-door coupe was built under the direction of 26-year-old William Clay Ford, who was Henry Ford II's younger brother. The younger Ford was put in charge of a new "Continental Division," which came up with the Mark II.

... The Mark II was largely a successor to the glamorous Lincoln Continental of the 1940s, which led some to mistakenly call the 1956-57 Mark II a "Lincoln Continental." Ford Motor never called it a Lincoln.

Powering the 115-mph Mark II was a large 368-cubic-inch V-8 that generated 285 horsepower in 1956 and 300 in 1957. It was a 1956 Lincoln engine, but was disassembled, minutely inspected and reassembled after being individually hand-balanced. It was connected to a specially tested "Turbo-Drive" three-speed Lincoln automatic transmission.

✰TMC DUMONT is equipped with a 300 hp Rolls-Royce Continental V6 engine from a 1960s aircraft and fully leaked 36 inch wheels. I have no idea if it can actually turn and riders should be cautious as that back wheel is frighteningly close! It’s impractical, it’s ambitious, and I think it’s awesome to see a crazy concept brought to life and actually ridden.

★The rally began on August 5th starting in London, passing through Domaine De Chantilly in France where a horse did a dance, Sforza Castle in Milan, Italy and heading to Bologna to fly on Gumball air (A Malaysian Airlines airplane fully rented for Gumballers by the organizers of Gumball 3000 which stopped in Kazakhstan to refuel) to head to Osaka, Japan, some of the cars are also being flown over to Japan. In Japan they will land in Osaka and will go to Kyoto, Nanao and will end in Tokyo were the Gumball finale party will take place.
