Star Trek: Discovery - user reviews (77)
Simply stated Discovery has morphed into a SJW, woke, LGBTQ s__t storm of dog poo. Interesting story lines, Star Trek franchise, and super CGI can do nothing to save this nightmare. Folks, this one is real easy - simply boycott this festering, rat s__t rolled in Bat s__t excuse for SiFi. Why? Well for starters, Season three is devoid of white, male protagonists - Captain Pike was the last. Replacing passibly strong male leads, we have plot themes building character arcs around the gay doctor and his engineer lover (in bed scenes included), hermaphrodite guy/girl character requesting to be called by the pronoun 'he/they' (yes, literally a character said this in Star Trek), the unattractive , /spoiler fat Ginger Ensign promoted to 'Number One' over the only decent protagonist character left on the show, Sonequa Martin-Green /spoiler and lastly a script devoid beginning in Season 3 of anything resembling a Staart Trek Universe. Instead the viewer is left wondering what the f happened to STD! This turd fest sucks so bad that I am certain Gene Roddenbury is rolling in his grave. ...

Don't know what it is but this show just brings out a lot of emotion in people....StarTrek is just progressive always has been and always will be. When Kirk kissed Ohura it almost got series cancelled. Has any one ever Noticed the guy in the skirt season 1 NEXTGEN??? Its StarTrek any way hope everyone is having a great day!!!!
@JAFO1 My friend, you are incorrect to state that ST is progressive in nature. Rather, ST has pushed edge and explored social themes. Progressive, woke, SJW themes polluting almost everything coming out of Hollywood have nothing to do with social issues. They are simply an alternate universe of morals being shoved down the throats of otherwise, normal humans. Progressives by definition dont belong to this Universe.
@WokeNoWay 😂😂😂😂😂 Progress and progressives by definition are the reason why humanity has learned to walk on two legs and you can gripe over this on your magic box. It comes with the turf that human brains have also evolved. Or one should assume...
@coffeeninja progressive idealogy is the result of unchecked mental decline which began with the PC movement. Fools like you simply have no ability to use logic and reasoning to develop sound positions in economy, politics, science and practically any discipline requiring a higher level of intelligence.
@WokeNoWay My dear young friend, I dare not even presume to speculate about your political predilections. I do hope that once you reach my age you will have gained some higher reason. Until then try not to step on your hands and stay away from materials that ultimately may prove too challenging for that poor mind of yours.
@coffeeninja Typical progressive, i must abide by your views, no matter how absurd they may be. Progressive mentality doesn't allow free thought, or objective opinions. You require lock-step acceptance with your views. There is no alternative, only the progressive viewpoint. Well sorry to clue you in my friend, but that isn't how the real world works. Your view of "evolution" doesn't involve an 'evolved' progressive society, rather progressive ideas are a de-evolution so to say. Progressive thought represents what happens to people who are incapable of ocherent, logical thought gaining a forum for their destructive and simplistic thought. Yes, it is true that many people adhere to your deeply troubled philosophy, but time will correct everything. Historians will chaulk-up progressivism as the ramblings of the uneducated masses, the inner city slum dwellers, the liberal fools dreaming of a socialist or communist Utopia or just plain damn stupidity. ...

Hahaha. I love this show. Its not the same as Original Star Trek. Neither was TNG or DS9 or Voyage or Enterprise. They were all seperate and different. I wasn't keen on TNG, DS9 was very poor (IMO). Voyager was OK and Enterprise had its moments. Picard was OK as well. Not seen "Below Desks". Was enjoying this new take on an old theme when I noticed something... all the main characters (well, most) were women of colour. I hadn't noticed... it was so well done I just didn't realise. Great to see some diversity and positive role models. Its a shame there's still a lot of solving problems by fighting, but 'spose thats the nature of the beast. great show.
I personally loved this series. I literally can't wait to watch each new episode. Some people are upset that it is a little different than your normal Star Trek series, but I personally don't mind it.
Also, it is kinda close to Andromeda, but not entirely.
Overall, I think is def worth watching.
I am not massive star trek fan, I watched and loved the original series when growing up.
The original series had a simplicity about it and you didn't really need to give it much thought enjoying each episode.
I have tried watching some of the newer series but just never got into them apart from Voyager which felt more true to the original series (to me anyway)
So with a shortage of things to watch I decided to give this a go starting from series 1.
I kind of have to agree with some of the other reviews on here that this is not Star trek (in the sense of the original series) And for me it doesn't quite fit in with the timescale.
Ten years before kirk and spock ?
If you can see past trying to fit it in this timescale then its actually not bad but it doesn't have the simplicity of the original series or the flow of Voyager.
I have nearly completed series 1 and I will probably carry on watching the following series.
Overall, not bad but not great...
Well I am so disappointed in S03E01 .... its just a rewritten version of Andromeda (2000-2005). Lets hope that Star Trek: Strange New Worlds stays true to the Star Trek legacy. If so, I can drop this one from my 'to watch' list.
I would like to see this show available with subtitles. It's hard to watch this show. When so many characters are using alien languages. That are not subbed. So you cant understand what it is they are saying. So I haven't a clue of what is being said or happening.
This is not Star Trek. It’s been retconned out of all recognition. Considering the entire premise of the [SPOILER] and even the characters were stolen from a source which did have original ideas the creators/writers obviously have no compunction in copying from previous incarnations. The wokeness throughout is cringemaking and vomit inducing. No surprise then that this STD is the worst iteration of all.
@BluetonedBoy Agreed, this must be the first Star Trek show all the 8,9 and 10 star reviewers have seen 🤦♂️
At the start, as a die-hard trekkie, just hated every detail of this series.
unlike other star trek series, it was focused too much on violence as its main drive. but now, after giving it up at first attempt and again giving it a go ahead with finishing 2nd season, i gotta admit i'm loving it.
i admint that every start, i was very skeptical. hated machael character, hated sarek, hated pike... at start of the first season, and at the start of the second season... stories seemed tooo difficult and banal at best with my skepticism taking over me.
But trust me, if you remember what the star trek is about, its interaction with characters, its relationships, bonding, peace, science...and can get past the part where it feels like... too far away from star trek's ideals, you will see that it successfully captures it, embraces it.
Also, at the early stage of the season two, where it links with THE original series with captain Pike, I was just amaze how much effort was put into this. ...

OK haters, we get it, you hate it - fine. Then . . . stop watching it. That's it. Period.
If it makes you feel superior to go on and on about how stupid the watchers are I feel sorry for you. Just Stop Watching It.
I didn't like where Flash was going, all the soap opera - OK I quit watching.
Same with Arrow, Scorpion, Supergirl and more.
People who like it are not idiots they just have a different taste than me.
I grew up watching TOS when it first aired. Do I love STD? No, but my wife, son and I watch it then discuss the contradictions and mistakes afterwards. But seeing Christopher Pike (great job Anson Mount!) and the mention of Talos IV was fun! We are enjoying it, flaws and all. You don't so let it go. It's not the end of the world. Go watch Star Trek Continues. Oh, that will probably bug you too. *Sigh*
The introduction of Anson Mount(Capt Pike) has made this worth watching and has made this more like Star trek of past!!! Good move!! I like it!
The reason STD is getting so much criticism is because it uses the Star Trek name but is absolutely NOT Star Trek...At All.
This video goes into the facts:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojtX_Oz4...
In the last scene where Spook showed up newly minted I think it ruined things for me. I have a hard time reconciling how the last two seasons were so much more technically advanced than any of the Star Trek shows before this, and then they seemed to digress in that last scene with the uniforms and the computer equipment on the bridge to before the original Star Trek. It all seemed to go backwards.
And I so agree with others when they say that this show should never have the title "Star Trek". This series neither follows the directives or the format of any of the previous Star Trek shows. In fact, it is so far outside the original storyline that it really isn't a Star Trek show at all. I am just sorry that they used the Star Trek legacy to create a platform to launch this series from.
Here is the main problem.
There is no problem whatsoever IF they would merely erase the misleading term "Star Trek" from the name of the show. It stands on its own anyway.
The problem is that Star Trek has BOTH memory alpha which is canon plus memory beta (I think) that is speculative fiction not authorized by decades of devoted fans writing hundreds of novels and trying desperately to stick to known canon...meticulously...yet being creative and PLAUSIBLE within the limits of authorized canon. They so love Star Trek that to make a miniscule (like getting a geneology fact wrong) canon error that is not plausible...made them ashamed. ASHAMED.
Then the showrunners PROMISED to stick to canon...and LIED.
A classic amateurish writer who is a Star Trek fan, often will experiment but will fail by foolishly writing what is termed a "Mary Sue". That is when a female cadet or ensign (as many amateur writers are female) would reimagine themselves into a Star Trek scenario and then heroically and simplistically "save the day" by wearing every "hat" possible ie doing literally every job area. That is absurd.

The second season is better than the first. I like the show, I do, but there seems to be some actors that I really think were miscast.
In fact, most of the cast seems off. Or is it the show that is doing a poor job of getting us to relate to them? I loved Sonequa in the zombie series but man, she overacts in ST:D. The two guys' relationship? Super fake and cringey, like Michae's and Saru's weird, out of the blue sister/brother bond that came out of nowhere, literally. Ugh. C'mon. You guys can do better! You have so much $$ -- we need better...because I rather have this Star Trek than none at all.
It's just ... off this show and I sincerely wish it wasn't. :T. I watch every episode though because it seems to be getting better.
Can we please introduce a "not interested" function so this garbage doesn't show up for me anymore?
@Gaunti Have you not realized nobody is forcing you to watch it? Let me guess your political leanings...
I really liked the first season, however I am in absolute love with the second season
amazballs cast, great story lines!
even tho this is a completely different star trek from the rest it still reminds me of TNG in the fact that they are taking the franchise to the next level
If you want to know in detail why this is (or better has to be for reasons of making money) NOT Star Trek, watch 'Why the Star Trek Prime Timeline is NOT Canon Explained' on youtube. Its all about licensing. Oh and btw STD sucks.
I'm a few episodes in and enjoying this novel take on the franchise. Visually, this show is fantastic.
The long scenes of Klingon dialog with no subtitles are frustrating. I don't know if that's the way it's supposed to be or something to do with streaming it.
Reading through the comments, this show certainly seems to bring out the trolls, but I guess that's bound to happen with any reboot of such an iconic series.
Another good episode, again not as much action as the first 2. Nominated for 2 Primetime Emmys. Another 3 wins & 17 nominations. Looks like season 2 is going to be another record setting season. And it looks like they are ramping things up for episode 5!!!!
What a literal piece of garbage. Can't believe this sh*t is broadcast to the public but in this day an age of privileged idiots with 0 hardships in their lives other than picking what to eat that day running rampant with all the social justice warrior/gender fluid bullsh*t without anyone kicking their teeth in for downgrading society to that just above being clinically retarded. If Gene Roddenberry were alive today I'm pretty sure he would go go postal.
Nothing more than degradation of society at its finest.
@Elkfarmer sooooo basically your not paying attention?
how bout a galatic war for a hard ship, how bout a warrior race hell bent on galactic domination?? any of these things scare you? can you see the connection with society today?? maybe take the night vision goggles off next time.
and i would hope that, when we are that far in the future we stop giving a sh*t who f**ks who or what race you hell even what species you are, you should ACTUALLY watch it, you might like it ^-^
please don't call me a SJW I'm not i just really like this WELL MADE show
Called Star Wreck: A guide to Woke Space. The original took liberties with science, and postulated a fictional future. The writers for this atrocity in the absence of real SciFi, people will accept this like overcooked fish to a starving child. Characters scatter brained redhead pulls off amazing feats of science and personal achievement, African female with male name is the smartest human in the galaxy, starts war, becomes criminal, ends war, becomes hero; No inter species love here, just more homo's accepted willingly by woke galactic society. And this in one episode of second season; no need to do any binge watch here...
Glad to see this show back. It took a bit for me to get into it. Season 1 was kind of all over the place and I will admit I found it a little difficult to get into it as it didn't really grab my attention (or my imagination) right away, but it did start to coalesce and seem to hit its stride at the end.
I'm not sure about captain Bohanan- um, I mean, Pike. Loved Anson Mount in Hell on Wheels, and enjoyed the southern accent popping through now and then (hope they let him keep it- loves me some southern drawl), but I think my brain needs a moment to disassociate him from the western genre.
I was excited to see the "old" uniforms- [SPOILER] and was saddened to see them go. Oh well, c'est la vie. And for me, and perhaps for other TOS fans, I will confess, seeing the "old" Enterprise had me a little verklempt.
Looks like SJWs and liberals have hit a NEW FUCKING LOW! Cum dump quadroon burnam f**king her brother? How disgusting.
@artarious WOW, talk about lows. Why don't you let your racist flag fly all the way to the top of the pole and just use the N-word? Although "props" for not just trotting out but for actually knowing that old slur.
And Cum dump, really? Granted I am not a huge fan of this 'vision' of star trek and haven't see all the eps but I don't remember her attending gang-bangs or pulling trains.
And as for the sjw stuff, honey, have you actually watched Star Trek? Ever?
I know I shouldn't feed them, but really, when they have to try this hard it just screams last ditch desperation. And I, being a big softy, don't like to see anything starve.
Also kind of surprised that this comment hasn't been taken down by mods...
@AriadneN She took loads and loads from the klink that literally ate her captain and crew. Why? she felt that the only way to connect to that 'broken' guy was to f**k him because she has NO OTHER REDEEMING QUALITY other than that. She knew it and that's why she jumped him.
She will do that AGAIN because that is how burnam thinks.
Oh, and lets not forget the scene where she is now f**king her brother, did you miss that?
Also, from the VERY FIRST EPISODE she keeps complaining that she is looked down on by the vulcans for her race and by humans because she was raised vulcan. The writers brought up race, so I bring up quadroon.
As for TOS....they were very progressive and they did it spectacularly....namely without forcing their opinions on others. Unlike this show where you get beat over the head with it every....f**king...episode. They are trying to push a narrative that they KNOW is false and a failure so they cram as much of it as they can in each episode to try and 'normalize' their depravities. ...

@artarious Wow. You get this bent over a make believe tv show? Maybe you should ask your doctor if Xanax is right for you. ;)
good episode wish they showed spoke by i like it yez em glade itz back on ten out of ten
@Julio72 9:30 now. They must have had at least 45 seconds to get this up by now. I'm impatient too, but I think it takes a few minutes to get it uploaded to all the link sites.
Excellent Sci-fi. Made for people who believe there is no one correct way. I hope we get some Lorca from universe A someday, hard to imagine that Lorca B could ever come back.
I hope they expand on ,whatever the main SJW character's name is, stellar ability to be a bestiality cum dump. That's all she really ended up being. Either a vulcan dump or a klink one. Never a human one though....guess that should tell us all something hmmm?
Whoa, I really enjoyed that last episode (The Brightest Star)! That's a short that is truly based in Gene Roddenberry's image!
"Why is it wrong to ask questions?" He asks. Why is wrong to have... doubt? Why is it wrong to ... think critically? What does it say about your current belief systems when the simple act of curiosity and seeking information curses you?
The answer? There is nothing wrong with that. Rise above the indoctrination -- Be the Brightest Star-- seek information!
Love it.
Rarely see a show so slathered in SJWBS. I heard they rewrote stories once Trump was elected.
Hopefully season two will focus more on a young Spock than anti Trump sjw crap.
@Bread&Circuses Not even watching this disgusting show. After that first season of bullsh*t. I watched it only due to a friend's name and ideas were used in the show (Paul Stamets) I have spoken with him about the show and he even regrets putting his name and ideas behind this atrocity
Does anyone have the shorts? The first one was released on the 4th but I haven't been able to find any since. Thanks in advance uploaders. :)
Hated star trek growing up. I'm a star wars fan, but this show is decent. worth a watch and looking forward to season 2
long live uhura sexy lady from start too finish she tha reson why i think older blk women so lovely i love sexy bodies 56 to 70 wow love the bodies gtltf
long live uhura sexy lady from start too finish she tha reson why i think older blk women so lovely i love sexy bodies 56 to 70 wow love the bodies gtltf
AAAARRGGGGGGGHHHH! I HATE to say this, but I hate this. I have from the first episode. It's impersonal. The characters aren't likable. The stories don't interest me. Go back to the original starship mission. To seek out new worlds, to go where no one has ever gone before. Surely there must be some Universe left undiscovered...unplotted, unexplored. Surely there are lots of planets and species out there that are just entering a stone age, or iron age, or ages that we aren't even aware of. The universe is expanding at a faster rate all of the time. Let's regain our curiosity, and go out there and find them. Lets not get bogged down by the politics of a few federation worlds. Explore! 5/10
@bondojoe Rarely see a show so slathered in SJWBS. I heard they rewrote stories once Trump was elected.
Hopefully season two will focus more on a young Spock than anti Trump sjw crap.
@bondojoe Agreed--couldn't get past the first episode last year and NEVER will. Apparently The Federations new agenda is Gender Fluidness and Spock's real name was Josie. How they besmirch the philosophy of the franchise is just bile-curdling--vomitus unto the entire endeavor!! !! !!
Oh, and I despise the new Klingons with their klunky language and subtitles, The Federation as a War Machine, and do be sure to down-vote the TWO-movies STARS rating in the caption box above the IMDB rating--I was able to reduce it by 2/10 of a star--MINIMIZE!!!!!! AND LET'S GET THIS GARBAGE CANCELED.
@Tamperer71 Rarely see a show so slathered in SJWBS. I heard they rewrote stories once Trump was elected.
Hopefully season two will focus more on a young Spock than anti Trump sjw crap.
@Tamperer71 Well said... this shouldn't be a social platform for Liberals, but a recreation of a story by Gene Rodenberry!!
Too bad mary sue wasn't eaten like the captain. Would have made a better story.
OH FUN FACT! Nonvulcans can mindmeld lightyears away................LOL
Cannon = GONE
I have been jonesin' for some new ST: Discovery. How about you?
The latest shakeup? Berg & Harberts are no longer exec producers cuz they dissed staff & intimidated writers, not to mention blew their Season 2 budget (according to The Hollywood Reporter). The good news is Alex Kurtzman's completely taking over production starting with Episode 6 (15 episodes maybe but 13 episodes for sure) and there should be no effect on the premiere date of middle 2019. The bad news, 2019
This is the worst Star Trek production ever. -Whoa !!!.The characters are the most disgusting characters possibile. The day when this abomination will be cancelled will be the best day of my life.
Excellent series so far, probably not one for the Trekkie purists out there. I'm really enjoying it though
I have to say that I love this series. Finally a Star Trek series for mature adults. No it's not a "feel good" show. It takes place during a time of war, and shows how some may rise while others will fall. Personally I am not a die-hard, altruistic, purist fan of the show. I do not dress up like them, or think that I am a character in the show, so the fact that the make up artists changed the appearance of the Klingons does not bother me at all. I think that they look cool myself.
Overall, I think the look and feel of the show is the best that has been put out by a Start Trek series so far. I hope that it manages to last, and continues to get even better. It's the first show in a long time that makes me look forward to the next episode.
@crazycorgi I'm sorry but not one single "Mature Adult" I have spoken to likes this show and the BS lies embedded within. This is a disgusting reproduction of something that was once great. Exploring space and the possibilities/encounters without species. Not portraying nothing the sjw/ gender fluid agenda. No "Mature adult" would put up with this
-It's a good sci-fi series, but i really don't understand why they changed the Klingons, because the new ones are looking weird and their change divided the whole Star Trek fandom in haters and fanatics . Nobody knows for sure ,but this is the first standalone/reboot/remake Star Trek series,it's pretty dark and the characters are not very positive ,but it has no humor ,like FIRST CONTACT or DEEP SPACE NINE has ,although it's a standalone series it's also a prequel ,because the events are happening in 'The Cage' , timeline .This is the first series where the captain is not the main character (unfortunately, because he is the most interesting character).
@MarianCiobanu The Klingons are 24 different planets each is a different race of Klingons, so variations on how each look will happen

This the 3rd season is just getting worse and worse. There is no balance between male and frmale roles in this series. There is also the LBGTQ angenda being shoved down the throats of the viewers. MY gay sister hates this show for that very reason, stating that 'it is spoiling the story lines of the series'. It's overtly feminist in nature as well. Star Trek is about story telling whilst refelecting about social issues and it always has been. This is way to much. On the positive side there is an interesting back story. That of The Federation v The Emerald Chain. This alagory of a Resourced Based System (Star Fleet) verses a Capitalistic system (The Emerald Chain) is reminisant of the Federation and the Ferengi. The CGI is next level, althoug it's taking it a bit far. For example the innner workings of the Ship, which would have the ship being about 20 times larger. The series does need to also grow up a little as it is far to childish.
