I was not expecting this to be good but it was very impressive and looks promising. I am a huge fan of all things vampire, witch and so on. I love shows like True Blood, The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, Salem, Hemlock grove, Taboo, Penny Dreadful, The Magicians, and many more which if I listed here would go on forever. With that said, I am glad to see a new series like this out especially for this time of year with Halloween approaching ;) and the eerie of the Autumn season. The cast is great, well written and overall based on the first episode I give the a 5/5 star rating! Straight to my favourites and playlist. I recommend it to anyone who is a fan of such genre or above shows I listed. Thank you to all members of two-movies for providing the links to watch this and everything else on this site! Cheers smiley

Ahhh I am so excited this is on here and with all the episodes. I watched the first teaser episode on the Shudder app and the rest doesn't start until the 16th. I really got into the first episode, seems like it is going to be a great series. It has a ton of great and recognizable actors in it. I love having some kind of horror or paranormal series to watch at all times but it doesn't always happen like that.

So far 100% Teeny approved smiley

@Teeny💋 Agreed. This is one of the best series I have seen lately. Excellent actors, beautiful views and creative plot. And finally the chemistry between Goode and Palmer is just off the charts. I am surprised you had not seen this before, Teeny. It was on Friday nights so every Friday I got so excited I was going to watch a new episode. BTW, it will have a second season

I usually HATE vampire/mystic/romance series, but your famous 100%Teeny approved convinced me.
If you can make me like a series of that genre, eternal fame and a golden badge of some kind will be the promised award!!
so lets give it a try....

What a Amazing Cast and Teresa Palmer as The Powerful Witch Diana Bishop with Matthew Goode as The Sexy Vampire Matthew Clairmont. smiley smiley smiley

I’m Rating This Show 6 Stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If you want to know more about the stories checkout Deborah Harkness’s All Souls Trilogy

After watching all 8 episodes of season one, I have to say that this series has evolved very nicely into something very dark and sinister. Thanks to the talent of Teresa Palmer, the female lead is not a weak, whiny, vengeful [SPOILER] , she is strong, likable, relatable and is able to carry many scenes that would have been lost without her. I am not saying the rest of the cast is not talented, they are, to varying degrees. I was concerned to begin with that [SPOILER] , that would have been boring for me. However, episode after episode, layer upon layer, the story built and was explored by cast and viewer alike. I cannot believe the first season is over and I am greatly looking forward to the second.

It's excellent to see so many enjoying an undeniably well directed, meticulously acted, high end production. The pacing is even, and moderate, which may be an issue for some, but for me, it took 5 episodes before I started to see what I needed to decide. [SPOILER] I'm very happy to say that episode 5 turned that corner for me and [SPOILER] Thanks everyone for the continual feedback. It kept me checking back.

@ I loved the lead bishop girl and had seen her in other movies before, so I was a little patient in the beginning for that alone. I'll admit it was slower and less eventful than I expected it to be, but I love this genre and had hoped it would get really, really good and to me, it has.

@◦•●◉✿♡Momof3αηgєℓѕ♡✿◉●•◦ The slow, and building premise wasn't any issue for me, I rather like that . The romance being the centerpiece of the story was (and is) for me. It felt forced to me, but it's gotten darker so I like it better. That's only my opinion. :)

+2

@ It did feel forced. I think, for me, it was more because of him and not so much on her end. He has an odd personality so I kind of attributed it to that after a while, but yeah, it there was no real chemistry on screen like I would have thought there would be. Even though in ep. 5 things are alot better, it still doesn't feel real or like a match.

@ yay.. just realised the next episode is up. Just reading over the reviews and I totally agree with you as usual. This is becoming a great show. I love the pacing and the beautiful scenery and acting. My only problem before ( but now the story surpasses any issue i had by miles) was the romance part and on episode 3 at the end of the show the cheesy fleetwood mac cover ( love the real fleetwood mac) while they kissed, blah blah pass me a bucket, nearly made me wanna switch off but I can forgive them for that as I now LOVE LOVE THIS SHOW.

@laylaandpaz I agree with you, as well, about the song. I remember feeling like something inside of me was receding from the scene. Yes, it was forced and incongruent with the show on a whole.

This show is a perfect example of why I give (most) shows at least 3 episodes before I decide.

I would've missed this little gem otherwise. I love Teresa Palmer, she classes everything up. :)

Just binge watched season two and I have to admit that I am disappointed. There was way more drama and way fewer special effects in all ten episodes. They could have done so much more with this season but failed to even reach a climax. The ending was dismal. After waiting two years between seasons one and season two you'd think that they would have come up with something stupendous, but nope. Still, I will be looking for season three because I want to know how they end it. I am just hoping that it will be filled with fx/cgi to make up for a disappointing season 2.

@00Dvora00 I don't know if it was just me, but the background music, at least in the first episode, was awfully loud and distracting, and mostly unnecessary. It rather ruined it for me to continue watching. With today's amazing technology, it would seem the quality of this show would have been much better, and is therefore, disappointing.

I HATE ROMANCES. No, seriously, I hate romances! But, on the strength of Eunoia's recommendation, I watched the 1st episode. That was a mistake. I found myself drawn to a well-written story, good cast, excellent locations and sets, and an interesting premise. I watched more. By the time the first kiss occurred, it was too late, I was interested. Thank God the vamps don't sparkle. I'm quite ashamed of myself for having watched all eight episodes. The cliffhanger has me waiting... I have to go now, and think of a good lie for if my daughters find out I'm hooked on this one. If my sons find out, I'm just gonna kill myself - after the next episode.🤔

I'm enjoying it so far, but it could also be that a lot of my faves aren't on right now. I'm 7 episodes in and I can say in my opinion that it's basically Twilight with a taller, more handsome, less edge-lord Edward and with a Kirsten Stewart double that actually has real facial expression range and witch powers. I guess it's dumb to compare shows but so what, I did it anyway. I like this way more than twilight. Cam and audio are good for the series by the way.

I am a big fantasy fan, all things witches, vampires, werewolves, etc. so absolutely love this show!

I especially like it when a show points me in the direction of a series of books I wasn't aware of, in this case the All Souls Trilogy.

The first season had me go out and buy the books! And having read them, the series is a great representation. There are obvious changes to make for better tv viewing, but all in all it's a great blend of history, myths, fiction and romance.

Matthew Goode makes for a great Matthew Clairmont and I love Teresa Palmer as Diana Bishop.

Can't wait to see Season 2!

Seasons 1 and 2 done and dusted. Normally I don't do reviews until a show has run it's course as it's not really fare to judge it from the perspective of only part of the story having been told. The show has a very high production values, thats for sure. With a well rounded cast palying the charachters within the series. I've not read the books, nor do I think I will for this series. The story is a typical romeo and juliet base. The script is not the best so far and has not done the best of jobs in expanding the world after 2 seasons of the nature of the universe that it is set in. There are glarring pot issues with the time travel aspects, especially with the absent charachter of Michael, the one that is actually from the elizibetian times and how the Michael from the futre will have effected the formers world. Diana's charchter need to be fleshed out a bit with regard to the development of her magical ability as it is all a bit vague. But all in all it's a watchable series if you don't mind the melloncolly feel and slow pace. ...

Just binge watched the first season. Wasn't sure what to expect going in, but I really liked it. I like how the characters are fleshed out. Decent amount of background to go with the storyline. I do wish there was more info on the demon species. Hopefully season 2 will give them a bit more.

Recently started watching the show. For me its quite average. I dont know much about the books, but it does have a good script and magic scenes but its certainly doesnt follow the likes of vampire diaries/ teen wolf. If Im being honest I only saw it because of Matthew Goode. Unfortnately a one time watch.

@Joann24 If you like this kind of thing you just have to watch The Magicians. Brilliant script from start to finish. Not a kiddy program like Teen Wolf and Vampire Diaries. The Magicians is inteligent and funny. With Margo droppin g some brutal insults. If you are not adverse to swearing then you could well love this show.

@geckoboy Hi yes I have only seen the first episode.. I felt it was too graphic in nature. I enjoy my share of fantasty movies/ shows like dragon heart and eragon where violence is too a minimum. This coming from someone who is actually a fan of horror films so maybe I need a redo with the witcher. Loved supernatural for a while then it became a borefest.

Iv never ever seen game of thrones to this day.. what was the hype about? Im so delayed...and Netflix's curse thats debatable.. I started the second season of discovery of witches... mmmm!!! Was okay- sorry I went way off topic

@Joann24 The witcher does have some action in it for sure, but it's all about the story ark that is being developed. There is not that much in the way of fighting in it, as I recall.
GOT is more of a political drama than anything else, but is a very good series. The ending got slated by the MSM and many fans, but un truth it was spot on,when coming from the perspective of the how the charachter becomes. Never watched Supernatural, I'm not into Tweenie shows. Saying that I guess The 100 can be seen as being directed at the Tweenie demographic. However it's dark enough not to prevent older and mature people from watching it. Yeah I'd give the witcher another go. As I have mentioned it's about the developing story ark that makes it a good watch. Enjoy Joann24

@geckoboy read your review about discovery... season2- dont wanna be a hater but your opinion was on par and 100% agreeable. It was such a snail mode. I dealt with boredom. SHHH!... :) Im admitting here that Im a big supporter of teen shows.... theres a few that have caught my attention- probably shouldnt since my age doesnt fall within that group category. But I find them entertaining and I dont tend to over analyze shows which is why Im not picky with what I watch. But I do enjoy reading reviews such as yours.. its very insightful. Im a 5min person if a show doesnt excite me within that time frame. Its not for me or change the channel kinda feeling.
PS. I DIDNT like the 100... enjoy your day

@Joann24 Thanks for your homest reply. There are multiple layers of messages in TV and film. If you study archetypes, psychology and the occult as I have for amy years. One gets to see many more things wovern into the programes. The 100 will need about 5-6 episodes to really get gowing. If you have only given it 1 or 2 then it will not seem good. The first 5-6 episodes establish the main charachters and the roles they play. I would suggest giving it a chance to pull you in. It starts to get better and better the further you get into the series.

@geckoboy Wow... you seem to be so knowledgeable.. im a bit jealous. The only thing I studied was design. Now it makes so much sense. I would see why someone of ur experience is extremely excellent at dissecting a film and the characters within. Like u sed theres alot of layers and deeper meaning, which up till now I never really thought about. For me its a choice of either good vs bad. And thats why I tend to get bored easily with some of these shows, buts its nice to knw that a show or movie is more than just pretty face. :)
