My kids love Dahl's books, all kids love them. Don't touch them!
What would Dahl say about erasing fat people, twits and anyone ugly?

In preparation: The mollycoddled reinterpretation of Herman Melville's classic, telling how Captain Ahab saves the gentle whale from a terrible fate and they both become friends for life. smiley

@CitizenD That's actually more reasonable than what is being done here.

Dahl was a truly gifted writer who gave children who were abused a real voice.

Symbolism is huge in the language of a child.

Puffin needs a wake up call in terms of millions of complaints and boycotts.

You mean don't touch the re-writing, NOT the originals.

Roald Dahl has nothing to do with this. It's the publisher who is doing this in the name of [supposed] sensitivity.

How that has anything to do with sensitivity is seriously beyond reason. It's all about money. smiley

@DontSpeak You mean don't touch the re-writing, NOT the originals.
Hyppy you raise some interesting grammatical points. Yes we use 'don't touch' in two almost opposite senses in English; as 'don't change anything, it is perfect' and also as 'dangerous, avoid it'. The meaning is in the context.
Like cleave [SPOILER] with opposite meanings.

@Buttless I know what i meant. smiley

He's a beloved author.

Piss off with your errant and incorrect interpretation.

Roald (not Rald) Dahl was brilliant and helped children.

Do you not realise he's deceased and this is the publisher exercising rights??

Diggressing into something else is your own buffonary.

Perhaps we need Suisen to extol your minion image and then you'll be placated? smiley

You are so obvious and complete digress from any representation of this horror.

Piss off.

If you read Nietzsche > Übermensch you may think that only handsome and smart men should survive this world. Nietzsche is great but it needs a level of academic load already gained so that he gets understood and not scandalize as philosopher. When a reader survives his own ignorance any reading is helpful and priceless. Even the most stupid and extreme. The real smart person is the one who learns even from the less possible source.

It's wise that you'd like kids to read and lightly or more filter the content as for this to become people that acknowledge and filter information. Hard to be done, if not in genes, reading even from a wasted and trashed newspaper helps IMHO.

It's how manipulators use academic sources on people without academic load and not the sources alone to blame. Same goes with Religion, IMHO. Is Catholicism all of Christianity? Is the bad face of Catholicism about every spiritual implementation of Religion? etc. Same goes of course for Islam, Buddhism, cryptocurrencies, the left and the rights bla bla leading again to the basic battle of free and alternative thinking vs Dogmatism and propaganda, etc.

Y'all should have figured out by now that the media is gonna keep rubbing what you call "woke" (or ANY other controversial topic) in your faces for as long as you keep whining about it.

Controversy = attention = advertising revenue.
