Creepy movie. There were definitely a lot of old familiar tropes used. It easily could be picked apart for this reason but it avoided falling into complete cheese. The situation our protagonist was in seemed convincingly hopeless which is the main reason the movie was creepy.

I watched 30 minutes of it last night and finished it up super early this morning. I was dead sober throughout both viewings. I'm too tired to say much more than this but I wanted to give this movie some positive points because the other review is so scathing.

I enjoyed this movie, I found it creepy and the story was good and not quit something I have seen. I like being creeped out so this was a good fix. I was hoping for a bit different outcome but that's ok too. [SPOILER] Worth the watch for me anyways.

This movie is really annoying, with the characters, the alarm going off for 5 minutes straight, phone ringing nonstop, and the random jump scares. I just ended up turning it off.

@DjSuperman Were those sounds in the movie or was it a bootleg copy and coming from the theatre that the bootleg was recorded?

@DjSuperman Thanks for that, actually.. I can't stand abrasive noises for too long... I end up muting my own TV until people are talking.. that can't be a good way to watch TV lol

Nice, creepy horror flick. It's kinda long so, get ready for a watch. I watched this movie at night, so that made it a little more weird for me. I did like the acting and the plot was very good too. Now when I see someone smiling, I give a double take, just to make sure, lol.

Eventhough this gave me IT FOLLOWS vibes, it turned out to be a good watch. If your looking for jump scares, chills and spooks, this is definitely for you. That's it.

Great movie! It was chilling and had good twists.I just expected more.It dragged for a bit.It wasn't enough smiling, spookiness for me.Even though the story was good,it strayed off to much.Well worth watching.

SMILE (2022)
Director and Writer: Parker Finn
Cast: Sosie Bacon, Kyle Gallner, Robin Weingert, Jessie T. Usher

1.5 out of 10.
For his feature directorial debut, Finn expanded his short film, Laura Hasn't Slept, and came up with a second-rate knock-off of Ringu and It Follows. The story follows Dr. Rose Cotter (Bacon, the offspring of Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon), a clinical psychiatrist who is terrorized by a malevolent entity in connection connected with a series of suicides. Finn peppered the film with loads of jump scares to compensate for the lack of originality in his storytelling. The script was predictable in many ways.[SPOILER] While I held small hope for something fresh, it offered a pedestrian and cheat ending which is common to films of its ilk. I look forward to the time when a horror film allow good to triumph over evil. ...

@allaboutmovies I can't find Laura Hasn't Slept anywhere online. It's like they pulled it from the internet.

@Jenn72 Thanks. The short is much better than the movie.

The only person who pulled off the creepy smile was the first lady. The others were laughable, especially the therapist. The revelation on how to get rid of the entity was interesting but the lead made no attempts to fulfill it. Returning to the house could've been a "face your fear" moment but butchered with the ending result. The poor jump scare was the only scary part. Movie is long. Fiance could've been better casted.

Okay I'm going to try to watch this, even though that giant mole on the side of her face is very distracting.

The smile concepts sounds a lot like that one move where everyone has this creepy smile. It's a bunch of young people in their 20s. I think it was one of those "dare" movies?

Wow how sad. No not the ending, but rather I was well on the way to giving this movie an 8/10 maybe 7/10 at least, until the ending.

Seriously this movie was like ripping victory from the jaws of defeat. How could you make such a great film for 149.30 minutes, only to blow it in the final 15 seconds? How?

The entire time I was thinking about how there hasn't been a thriller/horror movie from the US that had both a compelling story and good scares in a long time, and then you completely destroy it at the end.
