Searing hot action. Stunning stunts. Simon Pegg. Tommy Cruise. Epic production. Non-stop action, not to mention so much drama and so many cliffhangers and twists. Mission Impossible movies never fail to thrill, no exception. Enjoy. This review will self-destruct in 5 seconds.
@Crutchbender Sean Harris was an inspired choice as a baddie in both films. He hasn’t made many films ( I guess his most memorable for me was playing the dealer in Harry Brown )Mobutu he is a very very underrated class act
@shabbapaul Yup. When he's bad he's good. Sean Harris should do more movies.
I already forgot about this movie. Tom Cruise is a wacko. I cannot suspend belief with him anymore after his stupid scientology pr.
That and the fact that he's just simply weird!
Even the most ridiculous of situations make you gasp from the spectacle of the action rather than strain credulity at the levels to which you must suspend your disbelief for it to make sense.
More style than substance. But what style!
my best films Mission Impossible
Well the movie most definitely doesn't have 90min as stated here. It's 147min. Other than that good work on the movie, but they all look so old now, the most Simon Peg. Don't know how many more episodes they can do with the same crew. I see it as 1 or at the very very max 2.
The Mission Impossible films are all good. I have enjoyed every one of them. [SPOILER]However, this one was not quite as good as the others, in my opinion. The storyline for example, has been worn to death. It's the same here, with a small twist. Nuclear weapons that are about to explode, and have to be stopped. It was well done, and we got the usual amount of chaotic action, and threats, and plenty of stunts. And they were well done, and I understand that Cruise does all of his own. That's impressive. It was a great cast, and I'm happy to see the continuation of a series that relies on science and technology, as well as brains and guts. TTom Cruise alsways stars in exciting movies. This is no exception. 8/10
Tom cruise is the ultimate action hero, he is 56 and runs like a missile, all the action and stunts are so brilliant. hope we get to see so many more movies from him, his MI series is the best. I much prefer it to all the comic hero stuff that floods the movies these days, nothing like action heros who seem real.
Years ago when the first Mission Impossible film came out it was impressive. People were used to shoot em ups with only minimum stealth and trickery. While the first movie is nothing compared to the last few MIs, it was impressive in its day. Now, in a field filled with Matrix style fights and Fast and the Furious chases, every Mission Impossible needs to be at the top of its game.
Putting one of these movies together takes an Ethan Hunt level of planning, from the writing, stunts, technical know how and acting. I've always considered Tom Cruise better than most when it came to movies. He gets a lot of flack for being weird, but when he's in a movie the guy is on point. I feel like there is some Ethan Hunt in Tom Cruise (and vice versa).
While I didn't find Fallout as action packed as Rogue Nation or MI III, it's damn good and putting Simon Pegg and Michelle Monaghan in the action only made it better
I liked the big switcheroo. Always an MI favorite.
As good as this movie is, I couldn't stop thinking the Blue Man Group was doing the score.
"It's not enough that the audience sees the crash- we must put them in it!"- Tom Cruise
Thanks Tom, I have PTSD now.
"Is the audience still alive? CRASH IT AGAIN! WITH THEM INSIDE!!!"- Tom, again Read moreLess
@BrunoAxemaker I laughed reading that last line but then I saw Tom's name at the end, I thought it was a joke, and then I though about it and, yeah, that's something TC would say. You used the capital and bold lettering pretty well as I can hear the sentence in his voice with that same crazy look in his eye.
wow that one was too intense very good movie
Really enjoyed.. waiting for next.
Excelent, good action, great actors 9/10
this is one of the best action movies i watched this year.
Awesome action film and unpredictable story line..enjoyed..nice film...
Cruise always delivers with his M.I. movies and he always has a great supporting cast, however what is supposed to be a big reveal isn't a surprise at all. Still it had a pretty decent story and the action scenes were top notch. 3.5 out of 5.
This was very good, if not predictable. I'm no spy novel writer but I saw three-quarters of the stuff coming. I think I liked the last MI a wee bit more. All in all a great addition to the franchise. Well done. 7.5 / 10
@Bread&Circuses I should have jusy copied and pasted your comment, nice summary.
Too complicated, hard to follow. I got confused. Still don't know what it was about. That said, it looked good and the action was cool. Fight scenes, car chases, shoot outs, cliff edge drama, it has all this stuff and more. Even so and as I say it's just not a good a story in my view. I may have to watch a couple more times to see if I can figure it out.
Action packed Tom Cruise movie, basic plot he goes on a mission, everyone thinks he's gone rogue, and he fights to prove his innocence....I enjoyed it, well done....
I genuinely liked it, it exceeded my expectations. A very well written script and scenario. Loved it ♥ definitely deserves the 8/10 rating
I watched this feeling sorry for those whom spent money and those of who intend to. The poor camera angles made the action more than it was, therefore much was taken away from a promising subplot. ....I know I know its mission impossible 2/5
I would say this is the best Action film of 2018 with 97% rotten Tomatoes . Tom Cruise has done it again his skills and stunt. The performance are great also a humour are very funny from Simon pegg. The director had done a good job keeping the movie entertained us from beginning till the end & the most fantastic part of the movie is that the story are very well written with twisted plot but then very surpising us. I rated 5/5 .
As other movies, I'm waiting for it to come out in downloadable HD with no funny CC on it.
For me it's worth the wait. It's not like there's nothing else to watch till then.
But that's just me, to each their own.
What a realy jammed packed action movie! Loved it!
It's Tom Cruise; and Mission Impossible. I'm not really sure what kind of review to give it. Great stunt work, good action, classic Mission Impossible styling in all aspects. I would recommend, however, adding this to more of a marathon than standalone. Or at least watch the previous Mission Impossible to get a better idea of the story. Do NOT start here. Experienced Mission Impossible viewers only. :P
If you haven't seen previous MI movies, why are you starting here?
If you have seen previous MI movies; then you already know what to expect as far as quality and story.
This movie was equal to or better then the last one. I enjoyed it a lot. Quite long at 2hr 27min but worth the watch. If you like action drama movies this is the one for you. Damn everytime I watch a long movie like this I want to go to bed... WOW.. Eyes watering.. But most will like this a lot...
Not good enough. Very cheesy, poor writing, mediocre acting. I figured out the mole very quickly. That ruined the movie.
It's almost as bad as the second one. The rest are pretty damn good though.
This one gets 5 out of 10.
It's way overrated on IMDb. They must have paid.
I don't understand why there are so many people on this site that don't like this movie. It was bloody brilliant. To each their own, I guess.
@SlashStrike If you've seen all the others, the only one that's worse is the second.
How can you prefer something like MI:3 over Fallout? (I liked 3 btw). I also don't see how this movie is cheesy.
IMDb is unreliable, but that isnt the only rating website that has glowing reviews for this amazing movie.
Also, the Mole wasnt supposed to be a surprise, its even in the trailer.
@SlashStrike 3 is far better than Fallout. It was in the trailer because they messed up and made it obvious.
@YorkshireBitter No, there was an interview with the director of this movie. He said that Tom wanted to show 'him' as a bad guy in the trailers. He didnt want people to think that Ethan and the mole would become friends or allies or something. This decision also let them use the Helicopter sequence in the trailers, that was an amazing decision for marketing.
Also, why do you like 3 overr Fallout? (I'm not trying to be rude, just want to know why you liked it more)
@SlashStrike I don't know why you hate III. It was dark and Philip Seymour Hoffman was a great bad guy.
Cold and calculating!
@SlashStrike Better acting, better plot and better action.
I prefer All the MI movies to Fallout except II.
Can you at least agree that II is the worst?
@YorkshireBitter You're definitely right about II being horrible.
I also don't hate III at all. I loved III. I appreciated the fast paced nature of the film and Philip Seymour WAS AMAZING.
I liked how Julia was in danger in the 3rd movie and [SPOILER]thankfully it was also a plot point here.
I prefer the action here (Parachute scene, Bathroom Fight, The entire Chase in Paris, The Helicopter fight) and I suck at rating acting so I won't say anything about that. I didn't like how much of a mcguffin the Rabbit's foot was (We don't even find out what it is!), but 3 had a nice plot. I prefer Fallout because I thought the mole was awesome and I really like Solomon Lane.
But you have to admit, this movie has a superior soundtrack.
You seem like a nice guy btw.
As always it is fast paced & exciting.
It's best for since 1, the Ilsa Faust character was one bad ass.
with tom cruise, the movie is always good, it's the best of all, it was better than the 5 and that woman rebecca ferguson as I love you, in all the movies that you look radiant :D
Yes,Tom Cruise is the whole thing in this movie; but I am glad I did not pay for it;I caught this one line:[SPOILER]the villan says:to Tom,"Why won't you just DIE?"as they are in helicopters, and Tom just learns to fly one,and then they kick each other over the cliff?
I thought it sounded familar;in a Star Trek movie,Shatner and evil Klingon, are fighting over a cliff, and one,Shatner,I think, says,"Why won't you just DIE?/"If not a star trek movie, another movie had the line,as hero and villan fought to death.I'm sure it was a Trekkie movie with the line!TThat '"stolen line"alone told me,all the writing went into choreographing stunts.
I hate the writing. Its terrible and after seeing that line cut from another movie, including the cliff fighting,I don't think I want to see another of these.I hate frantic,over-booked furious action after action, like it was a wind-up toy out of control.I also did not like the "good spy kills himself off for country"although James Bond did,but Bond had FUN TOO.
HUNT NEVER HAS FUN.THE VIEWER IS EXHAUSTED, trying to keep up with the frenetic pace!
I admired all the views of Paris, that was the real stars; stunts and views of Paris.Cruz is wasted on these over-tricked-stunts-over-and-over, as he is also a very good actor.(Altho the one decent piece of writing was"caring about one person as much as a nation-full". Which might also have gotten stolen from another good movie.--I doubt it was original.Nothing here is about more than stunts, action, more action, hair-trigger escapes, bad villans, fighting, punching, more punching.
The ACTORS DO A GREAT JOB .That Scottish (or Brit)comedian here,Simon Pegg,is wasted,he could do a whole funny movie of his own--and he has. I am glad I didn't see this on a huge screen, with even BIGGER SOUND.--ONE reason I stopped going to theatres--VERY VERY LOUD SOUND. I saw that "Mouilan Rouge"movie with Nicole Kidman,in the theatre, and I was deaf for a week.(There's a really bad director for you.ugh.)
This movie was ok, but it was too much.It practically makes fun of itself.but I would go out on a date with cruz, he could even bring his CULT WITH HIM.HA HA. Read moreLess
@clarachan1355 That Line is a pretty common one. I've heard it everywhere. So, disliking this movie because of that doesn't make sense.
Finally getting around to this movie and I must say it's pretty bad ass. I'm not much of a Tom Cruise fan but I have to give credit where credit is due. He's a beast for sure and I love how he does the majority, if not all, of his stunts to make everything as realistic as possible. Great action sequences, great acting. Not much originality on the story part, but there's only so much you can do with these kinds of movies that hasn't been done many times over. Still, great movie. 8/10 🌟
I guess bigger is better.
The film does not offer anything really new. There has been already so many car-or bike chasescenes in these Mission Impossible-films (not to mention Bond-films) and the yet another nuclearbomb in the wrong hands-plot is old as Moses but everything is done so f*cking perfectly and the film looks gorgeous so it’s an absolute joy to watch all 2;5 hours.
This could be the very first Mission Impossible-film that I’ll go to watch again when it’s still at the theaters.
i think the first 3 was the best
@irishjoe1982 I hope you aren't including 2.
it was a good film but not the best
I have seen most of Tom Cruise's movies but these Mission Impossibles are getting Impossible to watch I mean how many can you make of these to understand they are all flops ..well maybe the first 2 was okay but the rest just suck, he needs to stop with this crap especially after those Jack Reacher movies that i loved! TOM STOP MAKING THESE DAMN IT!!
@❤️cєlєstє🌖mσσn❤️ 2 was a the worst one and a bad movie in general.
@❤️cєlєstє🌖mσσn❤️ YES. don't you think he has enough Hollywood cred, to do acting in some better-written films? He is a good actor,he could spend more time doing that.
Run Cruise Run!!! If you want to see some action and Cruise run for the prolonged viewing of this movie, then please, go at it (Cruise runs literally everywhere in EVERY movie he does, it's a long-standing joke, he IS the Running Man rofl). Otherwise, don't bother. It's basically a rehashing of the movie series this is from. Nothing new to see here folks, Just Cruise running some more hahaha.... But I'm a softy for these so idk, 3ish/5?
I absolutely agree with the last two comments: boring, unconvincing, horrible movie; quite a joke and a waste of time. Cruise is such a bad actor... but as everything in life, and proven for most of the comments here, there are folks that will enjoy it. There is people for everything. 0 out of 5 stars
@matesaca You probably haven't seen Cruz in "Rain-Man"where he did a great acting job. He's also known to be FUNNY in a comedy making fun of vietnam-war movies, where he was disquised as the horrible, nasty, bald studio-head who pushed everyone around. I think he's wasting his talent in these actioners, cause he CAN ACT.
@matesaca What's funny is the mute the sound and musical tension and really just look at the facial gestures and the actual 'acting' involved in these type movies. My father is convinced its because they rely so heavily on the computer graphics the actors have stopped 'acting' and he might be right. The more special effects the worse the movies seem to become!
@Icemankfc I absolutely agree with you. Thanks
@Icemankfc yes. i agree, and turner classic movies says."we didn't have special effects so we had to tell great stories."--which is true.
@matesaca A being after me own heart--do you know, that as this was playing & I otherwise busied myself--when I did inadvertently glimpse the screen--the acting, story-line and settings all were so cringe worthy, every single time I had to avert the gaze out of frustrated disgust, This one's right up there with Black Panther (such an implausible plot & sett-up, my tolerance threshold couldn't exceed 10 minutes). Of course, BP was one of the highest grossing movies of the year. The turpitude of the masses today :(
@Tamperer71 Totally agree!! I had to turn the BP movie off because I kept falling asleep during it. I kept reading about it and thought 'maybe I missed something' but it only got worse and worse. Knowing world history then comparing it to that movie it is just an insult to all of us. Honestly, I feel it's a total waste of time for an educated or intelligent person. It was all media hype that made the box office sales, not the movie. It really seems the more a movie is advertised the worse they are!!
@Icemankfc (You got it!!) :)
@Tamperer71 Glad to see you agree with me.... Why do you think Cruise, now does not do any other kind of movie but this franchise?
@matesaca He does other things. Have you seen Fury? Its bizarre but not a horrible take on WWII tanks and they actually used one of the last running models of that tank in the movie. Cruise's old S&W revolver was his grandfathers who was a war vet and it has a tiny bit of actual history in the movie.
@Icemankfc I wasn't aware of this one. I will watch it just to see him in a different role and confirm how bad I believe he is as an actor. Thanks so much.
@matesaca Precisely--formulaic is the key word and the sheeple are so not weened off of their indoctrination--that they gobble it up--never mind the Faustian Bargains these "actors" sell their actual souls and talents for the programming thereof that objectively spirals their subverted programming into mock-ups of their former, genuine selves. most 'Mericans know not else what to identify with and blindly, greedily--CONSUME--don't ask anyone for a synopsis--because who cares--and really, who's even paying attention. I'm guilty too--but working toward having it in the purview of my own control...HELP....
@Tamperer71 Interesting point of view. Cruise is an interesting character off the movies because his lifestyle and so called religion. Indoctrination, indoctrination...
This 54yr old man can do anything! LoL Not to mention he has saved the entire world more times than I can count. This movie is about as convincing as the cult he is the poster boy for.
@Icemankfc Wait, I thought he left that cult for his daughter?
@SlashStrike He will never leave. Fully indoctrinated and it has damaged every person he has ever been close with. It would require years of deprogramming and a level of responsibility and accountability that Cruise would never accept. Emotionally or intellectually. Emotionally Cruise is a spoiled child on many levels and every person not in the cult will remain a suppressive person or SP, daughter or not. Scientologist place little worth in offspring in the first place and are discouraged to even have children-sadly I know some people who have lost family members to that group and it's done nothing except harm the human race. www.intouchweekly.com/posts/did-...
another bleeding trope--pretty good as background while surfing the net on your phone, cooking & cleaning!!!! 1 star is generous; do these actors not see their reprisals making caricatures of the original characters...oh hollywood--you suck!!!!
wasn't that bad, just more of same old same old, impossible stunts, unbelievable events. I would like to see a change in plots, Russia is always plot where they get the weapons, why not another country for once. they always mock the CIA. In all movie was decent.
Really good movie. Thoroughly enjoyed it!
really good liked it storyline pretty much the same as the previous ones but its good its a storyline thats carried on for the film before
if u liked this before ul like this worth a watch 4/5 from. me
This movie was good - Great to see Angela Bassett in it, I would have liked her role expanded etc. Credit due to Tom re stunts. Great action movie 7/10
Unlike most franchises out there... Mission Impossible is the rare case in which a franchise gets BETTER over time with each new installment. I mean Ghost Protocol, Rogue Nation and Fallout are all just so freaking great!
Movie was actually pretty good.
1 thing though...they f*cked up Superman's face in Justice League for THAT ridiculous mustache? LOL!!!
glad they brought the english woman back, she plays the perfect opposite for this short main man.She has all the skills he has and the smarts, better looking though. I would have kept the plutonium and let them off dude. But then we would not have an awesome sequel to watch.
Superb movie 9\10
Ethan was a party pooper to the NWO and saved the day again. Loved every minute of all the MI series and this one is no exception. Good and surprised to see his wife again! Action packed from start to finish. And what a finish it was. Sit back and hang on! I will be watching this one again! 5/5 MY POV💥
Fan-Friggin-Tastic!!! Break out the Suds-N-Buds-N-Munchy`s-N-Crunchy`s early for this!! Bring five pairs of shorts for frequent loss of bowels!![SPOILER]Especially for the chase scenes through Paris. Non-Stop action, intrigue, back stabbing, not knowing who is who, and what belongs to what. Brilliantly conceived story!! Acting is First rate with the team back together again!! Special effects go above and beyond the call of duty bringing this tale to life. The toys they play with, every little boy over the age of thirty would die to get his hands on.[SPOILER]YES!!! It was so nice to see Alec Baldwin get wasted!!! You`ll wish you gave the death thrust of the knife!! Cam quality is surprisingly good! Will not disappoint!! If it does, then you are dead, drunk, or both. If you don`t watch any movies for 2018, because of the syphilitic insanity Hollywood has offered, then break that to watch this!!! 5/5. Special Thanks to `Aces`!!!
@PAUL58 five pairs of shorts😂🤣🍕🍻
@1FRAC1 Finally, someone else who likes this.
Spoiler. Ethan Hunt has a sex change at the start of the film and kicks as s in a pink leather mini skirt for the rest of the film 😎😎😎😎😎
@FluffyBunnySlippers That'll never happen. There's no way they'd come up with an original idea for the Mi series.
@DaveLikely Maybe I should write the next script for the series. Spoiler : There would be 13 twin brothers involved as well as his Ethans ghost 👻 returning as a mute who can only communicate through mine 😎😎😎
@FluffyBunnySlippers I like it. Perhaps Ethan's ghost could have a friend, who's also a ghost, and also a mute. He could be afflicted with a degenerative nervous disorder that makes him unable to communicate through mime, but he can coomunicate through the medium of interpretive dance. Together they could mime and dance their way to saving the original Ethan, and all of the other twin Ethan's from some sort of unfeasibly powerful enemy that not only want's to rule the World by nefarious means, but he also hates dance and mime due to a tragic theatre visit at a young age that left him with a typically super-villain-esque deformity - I'm thinking a hunchback, a squint and some form of limp = oh and he had to have a cat - If there's one thing James Bond taught me, it's that super villains must have a cat.
@DaveLikely It could work as a musical. Also having the villain replacing his cat with items that rhyme with cat i.e hat, bat, mat etc throughout the movie could add that extra twist.
@FluffyBunnySlippers Brilliant! What an innovation. You've got the ideas, I'm a writer, could help with the script, now all we need is a major studio, a few hundred million in funding and an international marketing campaign and it's done. I might start a kickstarter.
@DaveLikely Awesome. I am a writer also. I have five books 📚 published and am putting together my sixth. Haven't got a few million, will £6.53 be enough to start? ☺☺☺☺
@FluffyBunnySlippers (Do you really make MONEY PUBLISHING?i know other book-publishers,even very professional, and no one makes much money except for "young adult-vampire series."Books have to be in a "popular genre"or else the hordes of readers don't fork out enough dough.--or else they have to be "elite,intellectual-great-American-novel " with lots of publicity.
Look who was making the most money;Dean Koons, and Stephen King--extreme horror!!And Koonz is a real sicko!!
@clarachan1355 I don't make a lot of money. I am not a publisher exactly, I self publish my own books. It can be worth while but if you loose faith in yourself then the desire and passion can be easily lost and without that creativity is so easily lost or forgotten.
@FluffyBunnySlippers Haha, more than enough. But you'll have to write the music, I can't do lyrics, but I play a mean guitar.
@DaveLikely I can do the lyrics but am terrible at playing any musical instruments
I hope they didn't turn Jim Phelps into a villain, kind of sh*tty way to treat the hero of the original series. I hope in one installment Hunt finds him in some secret prison and the other Phelps is revealed to have been an impostor.
