Loved it. Bravo to both the Emma's playing opposite each other. I know some are going to nitpick this but I've only seen one 101 Dalmatians movie and that's the one with Glen Close. So I'll just go with this back story. I loved that this was so detailed on how Cruella Deville came to be, turns out the apple didn't fall far from the crazy tree. Emma Stone was great as Estella/Cruella they def picked the right actress. I'm a fashion person and this was spot on with the fashion. Great supporting actors Mark Strong, Joel Fry, and Paul Walter Hauser (was very shocked to see him in this) make the movie even better. If I had one critique it would be I wish they would've made Cruella just a pinch more evil [SPOILER]because her mother was a full blown psycho who tried to burn her alive.. But I loved it. I will def watch again this weekend with my nieces 8/10
@galavion Thanks to @Mark89 and the rest of the contributors I expected to watch a cam of this today. This is a great copy thanks guys
@galavion A big thanks from me too, I also expected cam, you guys are fab. I too loved the movie, the glam and the glitz, Emma Thompson looked gorgeous, good fun.
@galavion Because it got online release on Disney Plus the same day as the theatrical premiere date
@galavion that`s exactly what i thought! My nieces 14+17 will loooove this!
Another BORING depiction of fashion world that is just all about zippyty zap zap magic magic magic production of grunge couture.
As a design student & professional myself, the most interesting part of designing is the process of the mind & conceptual design.
A lot of historical piece about fashion designer are very intriguing. They usually capture how a famous designer come up with the every curve amd how certain era's material & tech affects how the the piece is materialized.
Its not all MAGIC.
Even the brief scene of Emma Stone's characer in LaLaLand, writing then building her own stage & props for her one-man play seemed more accurate depiction of the mess & exhaustion of actual designing
This is nothing more than that BORE pandering Ocean's women sequel.
Just characters magically wears fancy clothes.
Not to mention the totally predictable storyline from the beginning of the movie.
I feel like being treated like a dumbass with the plot.
... Even regular Dora the explorer episodes have more surprising story.

@kent.girl LOL Were you high when you watched this?
@Ghenghy I have expressed my thought precisely, with words. Not just "LOL".
@kent.girl I don't know what else to do but laugh at someone that thinks Cruella is a bad documentary about the fashion industry in the 70's. Yeah, thats pretty damned funny.
@Ghenghy Because the movie is about something else other than fashion???
Yea when I see Mad Men I expect instagram ad making. I wish theres more flying cars in Breaking Bad
Have to give huge props to the fashion/makeup designers. It was a different costume within each scene, I had to pause to appreciate the fun-exaggerated expressions of the 70s. The outfits coincide with the personality change of Estella as you see her transition to Cruella. The story is easy to follow with a clear background so there was really no need to rewatch the original. The garbage dress was the best and Emma killed it. Only thing I was hoping for was more Dalmatians and less CG, but it didn't bother me too much.
WoW.This movie was crazy good!Soo much fun for a wider audience. The actors were fantastic. All the fashion and hair styling added a mystique. The whole story was of cruel amazement. You just gotta love the doggies, especially buddy and wink. You don't want to miss this one**
One of the Best movies I've seen in awhile, don't miss it.
If you want a great film and an amazing soundtrack of hit after hit then this movie is the one for you! From the very start this movie kept me engaged and I didn't find my mind wandering which has been the case with some recent releases. The acting is first rate and Emma Stone shines in the title role. Emma Thompson and Mark Strong are excellent too, as are Cruella's sidekicks. Lots of subtle nods to the future, or in this case the original Disney film. Excellent sets and period pieces. This film works across all ages. Hoping they make a sequel or prequel and have the same cast. Did I mention the soundtrack? It truly is a joy to listen to and sets the scenes so well. Well done Disney for getting this right and not screwing it up. Emma Stone certainly has an excellent vehicle here to show off her acting chops!
NEVEREVER would i have believed Disney made this! (being cool without Pixar was always a problem...)WHAT? A Disney movie that ends with "Sympathy to the devil" by the Rolling Stones??? A murderous mom??
First and most important: The soundtrack is from HEAVEN! We all know when the best music mankind ever made was produced--> exactly, in the 60s and 70s. Thats a scientific fact!
And the creme de la creme of this time is here to play up: (selection)
"Boys Keep Swinging," by David Bowie (1979), "One Way or Another," by Blondie (1978), "Hush," by Deep Purple (1968), "Five to One," by The Doors (1968)and the list goes on and on...
This movie is a style bomb: a visual excess, sexy, angry, evil, female! AND FUNNY as hell!
Cruella`s thief friends are created carefully and just loveable. Emma Stone & Emma Thompson just lift this fight up to a new level of evil Lady aggression!
Also the movie does so many quotations on other movies and icons that are embedded very smart. A rush that is also appropriate for the younger ones, i am sure my nieces will love it!
Forget the critics response (which was somewhere between middle to good).
This is a milestone of kinetic & stylish elements, and a milestone for Disney live action features!
A must watch!

My granddaughter want to see this piece of crop I watched it nothing special
Outstanding, wonderfully imaginative, and apt backstory for an iconic character. As prequels go this one was spot on. Perfect casting, provocative dialogue, colorful scenery, and imaginative costumes. The music, more or less true to the era, was well chosen for the mood it invoked. One of the best productions of its genre in ages. A little PG because of the murder, but it wasn't too graphic, and the language wasn't unnecessarily vulgar. Could it be translated into a live action Dalmatian movie? I'm sure the lead actress could be "aged" into the role. Oh well, guess that's a wait & see, huh? Ten of ten 👏's from me.
i have never seen a movie like this in a long time , splendid , marvelous ,
half way through the movie and its fantastic. Very strong script , great acting . Both the roles are handled fabulously. it could have been more wicked.
a must watch 8.5 it is
6.75 out of 10.
Do we need an origin story about one of Disney's most iconic cartoon villains? Not really, but since it was there, might as well dig into it. Disney obviously wanted to show the dark nature of the title character mirroring that of Joker's, but Cruella's wicked streak does not surface in the film. The story traces Cruella (Stone) as an orphaned girl named Estella who grows up with two pickpockets, Jasper and Horace (Fry and Hauser). The grifting duo introduces Estella to a life of crime and also helps her realize her dream of working in a posh department store owned by Baroness von Hellman (Thompson) in the hopes of jumpstarting a career in high fashion. In the process, Estella discovers a few skeletons in the various closets that set her transformation to her alter ego. The predictable script, which does not hold up to scrutiny, is essentially a patchwork of The Devil Wears Prada, Phantom Thread The First Wives Club, Ocean's 8, Birds of Prey, Mission Impossible, Snow White, and of course, Dodie Smith's book and the 1961 animated feature. ... However, the snappy editing, the frantic pacing, the eyepopping elaborate art/production design, the virtually non-stop soundtrack, and the truly creative costumes by Jenny Beavan, mask the fact that the story and its variations have been told before. The film has hardly any moment of silence, thanks to the unrelenting playback of familiar '70s tunes. Some of the special effects are heavily CGI'd while the casting fulfills the diversity checklist. Stone is adequate but miscast in the lead role. She plays Estella/Cruella like Easy A with an unconvincing fluctuating English accent. Thompson deliciously hams it up as Cruella's nemesis and object of revenge. Strong, as the Baroness' valet, is also fine and does not age at all. It is interesting to see some references on the main source novel and the original cartoon like Cruella's driving style, the dalmatian's penchant for soccer TV and a ditty sung in the first animated film. Overall, the movie is entertaining despite its various flaws and overlength. If you expect to see Cruella's heightened villainous potential, best manage your expectations. Read moreLess
To me this is a poorly executed children's movie that is too dark for children. In the 1st half hour everything is completely predictable and boring. Disney has lost the ability to make good productions and this one shows with very little new ideas beyond fashion. Disney is still pushing SJW justice on the theme I am a woman hear me roar.
A beautiful production indeed. And Glen Close as executive producer; well this film has it all. But I personally liked Emma Thompson's character more than of Cruella's.
Anybody who likes this shallow meaningless film doesn't know anything about movies. Fact. That said, if you must watch it do so at x 2 speed setting. It'll go twice as fast and only be half as bad. Basically it's demon worship, which is bad enough, but worse still it's more of the women are good men are bad stuff. Yawn.
It wasn't a bad film but I have to say that since Walt's death Disney just hasn't been the same. The films are getting darker and moodier. There is less and less of a family feel to their movies. Disney was always highly commercialized but now the characters seem so detached from the audience. Did I like this movie? Yes! But it was a one-time-watch for me. I am not an Emma Stone fan, and I really have to like the cast to really like the movie.
@00Dvora00 Totally agree about Walt’s death.
When the corporate mainstream tries to be punk-the movie.
This is an okay movie. It's kind of like a heist movie like Ocean's 11 with some comedy thrown in, set in a 1970's London fashion world. It's not as good as Maleficent though. I give the movie an 8 out of 10.
I'm surprised this turned out to be a good movie, personally i think it didn't need to have any connections to the dalmatians and Cruella, it would be a good stand alone movie with another title, very enjoyable.
I was hesitating watching this but was pleasantly surprised +++ Acting ist great, costumes are to die for and the soundtrack is also fabulous. Loved the dogs too 😃
|Artis Gratia Artis| Indeed. I really had enough of Alliens and Marvel, now I get my innocent Disney Feel Good movies sequel the Punisher...And if the kids watching this survive the teenhood after countless sessions with specialists will become the modern heroes - the Avengers. Because old and past is wrong and it wasn't forging the proper heroes. Cancel Culture show. 0/10
Much better than expected from a Disney movie. Not quite a dark dramedy; suitable for children and enjoyable for adults as well. The cast and setting are fantastic. Emma Stone did a superb job.
I liked this origin story
Nothing I would change of this movie , spot on ! Acting superb , graphic excellent and story very captivating.
So many bit and bits that make you remember the cartoon, the driving especially.
Went into theater to watch this with a friend. It was a good movie even though it didnt follow the original disney cartoon story line.
