This is the story of "E" Easy Company, 506th Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division from their initial training starting in 1942 to the end of World War II. They parachuted behind enemy lines in the early hours of D-Day in support of the landings at Utah beach, participated in the liberation of Carentan and again parachuted into action during Operation Market Garden. They also liberated a concentration camp and were the first to enter Hitler's mountain retreat in Berchtesgarten. A fascinating tale of comradeship that is, in the end, a tale of ordinary men who did extraordinary things. |

Outstanding series. I watched this with my father every week on HBO! Made us both tear up on more than one occasion. MUST WATCH!!

@DallasMike I agree 100%! Hope you saw the sequel to this called the Pacific? It is just as good!......I am hoping that they make one about the air force sooner or later!
@Movieprincess I have seen Pacific yes, excellent, being ex army airborne, i gravitate to the 101st. With that said, ask and you shall receive, HBO is currently working on a series called the Mighty Eighth, based off the 8th Army Air Force during WWII. So far, 500 million spent and due to release via HBO in 2019 :) Rick Jacobson is a director and producer, known for Spartacus, which is a superb mini series in its own right, def check that out Movie Princess.
